The Real Romney
American Clarion ^ | January 18, 2012 | Bob Ellis

Posted on 04/29/2012 4:25:34 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

The Daily Caller reports a huge 200-page research document has hit the internet, and it reveals Mitt Romney utterly and damningly for the flip-flopping opportunistic liberal that he is.

The paper was compiled during the 2008 presidential race and is believed to be from the McCain campaign (not the most conservative source itself). Among some of the interesting tidbits that blow a hole in his claims about being pro-life, pro-marriage, and generally conservative:

Abortion

• Romney says he changed his mind on abortion meeting with Harvard stem cell researcher - Romney claims the doctor said scientists "kill" embryos after 14 days, but doctor later said Romney "mischaracterized my position."
• Months after his "conversion," Romney stated his commitment to upholding Massachusetts’ abortion laws and appointed pro-choice judge to state district court.
• In October 2005, Romney signed bill expanding family planning services, including abortion counseling and morning-after pill.
• In December 2005, Romney "abruptly ordered his administration to reverse course . . . and require Catholic hospitals to provide emergency contraception medication to rape victims."
• Romney health insurance plan expanded access to abortion, required Planned Parenthood representative on state panel.
• Romney endorsed legalization of abortion pill RU-486 access during his 1994 Senate race and backed federal funding of abortion, saying "I think it’s important that people see me not as a pro-life candidate."
• In 1994 and 2002, Romney confirmed his support for Roe v. Wade decision and forcefully positioned himself as pro-choice in 1994 Senate race, saying "you will not see me wavering on that."
• Romney has refused to comment on bill pending in South Carolina legislature requiring that abortion doctors offer pregnant women option of viewing ultrasound.

Gay Rights

• Romney endorsed Rep. Barney Frank’s Employment Nondiscrimination Act in 1994.
• In 1994, Romney called "don’t ask, don’t tell" policy first step toward having gays and lesbians "able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military" and said he would provide "more effective leadership" on gay rights issues than Ted Kennedy.
• In 2003, Washington Times reported Romney "would support a Vermont-style civil union law in Massachusetts."
• As governor, Romney said health coverage benefits and hospital visitation rights should be provided to gay couples.
• Romney promised to make gay partnership benefits a "hallmark of my leadership as governor" and has said he would attend gay weddings if invited.
• Romney publicly opposed Boy Scouts’ ban on homosexuals in 1994 and 2002 campaigns.
• In 2002, Romney backed hate crimes legislation that included sexual orientation provisions.
• In 2007, Romney praised gay parent who confronted him over gay marriage issue, but in 2005 remarked to South Carolina audience that some gay couples "are actually having children" and called it "wrong."

Gun Control

• In 1994 Senate race, Romney backed Brady bill and assault weapons ban, saying "I don’t line up with the NRA" and "that’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA."
• Romney called Clinton crime bill "a big step forward."
• As governor, Romney quadrupled gun licensing fees and vowed not to "chip away" at tough gun laws
• In 2004, Romney signed permanent state-level ban on assault weapons that was mirrored after federal assault weapons ban. • In January 2006, Romney said he owned a gun - then two days later admitted he did not and the gun belonged to his son.
• Romney bragged about being member of the NRA but later revealed he didn’t join until August 2006, just before launching his presidential campaign.
• Romney recently said he’s "been a hunter pretty much all my life" but later admitted he hunted only twice in his life, later clarifying remarks by claiming he has hunted "small varmints . . . more than two times."
• In 2006 press conference, Romney claimed he had been hunting "many times" after returning from quail hunt in Georgia.

The paper also goes on to provide much greater details about these facts also. You should be sure to read the whole thing.

If Republicans allow themselves to be duped into believing Mitt "RomneyCare" Romney is a real Republican (much less a real conservative), they will be sorely disappointed if given a chance to find the truth once he’s in the White House.

If Republicans allow the "mainstream" media and RINO elites to scare them into settling for this poor excuse for a Republican, they are going to kick themselves later. With Americans having gotten a clear look at liberalism under Barack Obama and his Democrat Congress, there will never be a better time to elect a real Republican, a conservative who understands how America was designed to operate. With the damage done by liberals to our great nation, there has never been a time when we have more desperately needed a conservative who knows what makes this country tick . . . not one who will only reduce - but not stop - the level of liberal poison being injected into our society.

The truth is, Romney almost certainly will not get a chance to show his true face. Enough Republicans already understand that he’s nothing but a liberal with an "R" after his name, which means that even if people allow the "mainstream" media and the GOP establishment to fool them into supporting him in the primary, there will not be enough support from Republicans who know the truth to push him over the top in the general election. Principled Republicans will not vote for a fraud like Romney, and when "independents" are given a choice between a liberal with an "R" after his name and a liberal who proudly embraces the liberal Democrat Party, they’ll go for the genuine article every time.

Republicans, let’s throw this pretender onto the side of the road while there is still time, and choose a real Republican like Rick Santorum. Half-measures and "the lesser of two evils" will not be enough to save our ailing country; we must have decisive leadership that understands the need to return to the traditional American values that are PROVEN to work. Rick Santorum understands that; Mitt Romney just doesn’t get it.

My problem is I dont think the people using those terms understand what they mean or can define them. They just say: Marxist!, and the conversation is over.

Do you agree with everything that Mitt Romney has done?

NO! I don’t agree with EVERYTHING any candidate has done but I do DISAGREE with EVERYTHING o bama Soetoro has done

Have you ever posted anything negative about him?

Yes, don’t be lazy, past posts are all there, go look. You are going to find I spent almost no time bashing Perry, Santorum or any of the other GOP candidates. I felt my time was better spend exposing the BIGGEST threat, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA AKA BARRY HUSSEIN SOETORO because I will vote ABO!

Actually many do. While it may be hyperbole it often does get the point across.

Romneycare for instance, not truly Marxist, but I bet Karl would like it, Obama sure does, he copied it and I am willing to bet using the term Marxist when referring to Obama meets with your approval...

I think I’ve discovered an interesting twist on fund drives.

1. Go ahead and have a Night of the Long Knives...kick every RomneyZombie to the curb.

2. Charge...oh...$100 for a kicked ISP# to retread. Because a RINO just can’t live knowing conservatives exchange even the time of day eithout their trollfluence sitting right in the middle. Then $200 for a re-re, $300 for a re-re-re, etc.

Go ahead. It’s a sick need for them. Might as well profit from it, and it’s $100 that won’t see a Romney warchest.

They should do a study on how people formerly ptofessing conservatism decide to accept one spoonful of liberalism out of expediency, and then go from zero to Alinski faster than Obama chews the chitlins from a Schnauzer.

It’s political Crack.

By enemy, you mean the e-GOP right?

The same ones who are promoting the abortion loving, pro-0bamacare, anti-2nd Amendment, liberal judge appointing RINO from Mass., or is it Mich., or is it Utah?

The sames one who vilify any Conservative who dares to stand his/her ground against the “party”?

The same ones who claim that any Conservative with a conscience who doesn’t vote for Romney will be responsible for the destruction of America?

Just a friendly reminder, the home page declares, unequivocally that this is a CONSERVATIVE site, not a Republican one.

FRegards.

Drat! The underpants work everytime. Sarah may have a pointy bra that counteracts the effects of the magic undies, but its risky.

WAIT!!! Newt has sparkle panties from Tiffany that could reverse the Mormon Magic!!! No good, Calista won't give them up.

We must think of something!

Whoever is the Republican nominee, will receive my vote.

Those were the good ol' days when it worked that way. Sadly I must acknowledge the reality as it has evolved in the Republican party. And it makes me realize that this 2012 primary is just Part II of the 2008 primary, and this time, ace-in-the-hole Palin is out of game for Romney; if she joined him, she'd be negating her own credibility.

Listen, my vote, like your vote, is an oar in the water. That's all it is, and not to use it would be dereliction. Facing up to facts, I see that we've reached the point where voting Republican requires me to vote against my own self-interest morally and financially. Voting for the Republican is as absurd as voting for the Democrat -- the only reason I'm given to vote that way is sheer panic and desperation to avoid Obama. It's a fact of life that people do stupid things when they react out of panic.

So I've got this oar in the water and the duty to use it. I know how I'm voting if it comes to R v O. It will be a third alternative, a viable alternative, risky but the ONLY alternative.

I'm going to vote to make liberalism weaker: I'm going to vote AGAINST both of them, and use my oar to direct a rightly course. As far as I'm conserned, rejecting Romney is a little bit like sculling. It's as nuts to vote for Romney as it is to vote for Obama. Sorry, that's the hard-core truth.

So we'll see whether or not Obama really is as awesomely Oz-like as Rally-Round-Romney Chicken Littles think he is. He's a little man behind the curtain.

Please provide a link to that poll you are referencing.
If it is true then those 5% who are supporting that liberal called Romney aren’t thinking, which makes sense.

I forgot — I pinged DO because of his perfect way of putting it: Romney is a bridge too far. Forget him.

I think ol' pappy Padre is one of two things:

1. Sincerely shocked to see true conservative Republicans saying "the crap stops here -- Romney's out" and turning away because it's a bridge too far.

2. A paid or motivated agent of the GOP.

I got it! Let's just write any ones name at the top of the ticket because only some of us are patriots standing on our principles, not like those traitors in swing states that are just trying to keep that b*stard from another four years so we can live to fight another day and get off our butts and do it better next time! Obama have another four years! Yeah, that will work!

If you were a true Patriot in full-blown panic mode, you’d vote for Forrest Gump if it would get that Marxist Muslim out of the White House.

There. Fixed it for you.

Anybody working to get Obama re-elected is the enemy.

Equally true for anybody working to get Romney elected.

It's because the enemy is liberalism.
