Bibles are ‘homophobic’, Scots police told

Scottish police forces have been told not to accept a gift of free Bibles from the Gideons because the book “condemns homosexuality”.

The Bibles have been offered to Scottish police forces featuring each force’s badge.

But the Gay Police Association (GPA) is against the move, and has issued a statement demanding that the forces refuse to be involved. Untrue

In the past, the GPA has been in trouble with the authorities for making untruthful and misleading claims involving the Bible.

In 2006 the group was reprimanded for producing an ad featuring the Bible next to a pool of blood with the headline “in the name of the father”.

The ad blamed religion, focusing in particular on Christianity, for violent attacks against homosexuals.

But the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that the ad was untrue, indecent and unsubstantiated. Guide

Trade union UNISON has joined with the GPA in opposing the offer of free Bibles for Scottish police forces.

Gideons say they want to offer Scottish police the Bibles as a “valuable guide to life”.

The group said they “can be offered to all members of the individual force, both serving police officers and civilian staff”. ‘Concern’

But the GPA said in a statement: “Members of the GPA have contacted us expressing concern that their Force is officially endorsing a religious book containing text which condemns homosexuality.”

It added: “The GPA does not feel that a public service, such as the police, should be seen to be endorsing, by their active involvement, any particular religion over and above any other religion or non-religion.”

The GPA said if the Bibles were to be offered, “surely this can be done without the actual involvement of the police force concerned”. Reject

UNISON commented: “It is not the role of a Police Force either to provide official endorsement of any religion or foist religious views on its staff.”

The trade union added that it hoped police forces in Scotland would “reject” the offer.

True, but the UMC is the last of the mainline denominations to fall. The Lutherans, Presbyterians, and Episcopals have already been forced to split into “gay” and “non-gay” denominations, which has weakened them to the point of collapse. We have managed to stay whole, but after May 4, who knows what our future will hold.

Christians are fair game - to make room for muslims.

No surprises really here. That very same Bible they hate, predicted all these times. And perfectly, spot on, the Bible is correct in its prophesy of these times. It is only going to get worse. Much worse. Christians in this nation will soon be treated like Christians in muzzie countries. But, I am not worried. My faith remains in Jesus Christ regardless of what nonbelievers and haters want to say or believe.

DSD: “At one time, The Bible and religion in general was celebrated as positive forces.”

That’s because the Bible is a positive force for good. Whether one believes all of it or not, I think the Bible offers outstanding guidance, both for a successful culture and life. Most of the negative things people believe about the Bible aren’t generally even in it. If someone can point out the harm of loving God, treating other people how you would like to be treated, drinking and eating in moderation, remaining faithful to one’s spouse, not being envious or greedy for what your neighbor has, not engaging in high risk sexual behaviors, not murdering other people, not idolizing pleasure, wealth, or other things of this world, being humble, etc., I’d love to hear it, because that’s a laundry list for successful life.

BTW, I believe in Christ and His explanation for why He came and did what He did. So in that sense, the Bible is more than just good advice for me. It’s the means to learning about God which leads to salvation, but disregarding that, the Bible is, undoubtedly, a good guide.

RetiredArmy: “My faith remains in Jesus Christ regardless of what nonbelievers and haters want to say or believe.”

You and me both, my FRiend. The apostles and disciples thought it a great honor to suffer for Christ. After all, the world rejected our master. Why would it treat us any better?

What has happened to the land that gave us JOHN KNOX!

The Scots were once known as the People of the Book--i. e. the Bible.

Bryan24: “Those who refuse to obey God will burn in hell.”

That is true, but many consider it hate speech. I truly feel very sorry for those who are caught up in this great delusion that Christians are hateful, evil people. Sinners don’t like hearing about sin. They wrongly think everything will be OK if they only manage to silence us “haters.” They don’t even realize they are like people drowning, and we’re the ones who are trying to toss them a life line.

I’m at peace with the Lord. That, my FRiend, is so, so much better than striving against Him. Too many people sell their souls cheap. I was once just like them, understand what drives them, and pity them. The transient, hollow pleasures of sin are worth so very little. All one has to do is surrender to His will. It’s such a simple thing, but it’s so difficult for so many to do.

As far as homosexuality goes, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. What a sad, dysfunctional way to go through life! I pity them more than most.

I have never heard one pro-homo type say anything against Muslims on this issue. Never. It would not be politically correct to take out after the "religion of peace", but Christians are fair game.

In the Quran, there are verses condemning man-on-man sex, but there are other verses indicating men sodomizing young boys is OK.

For example, in heaven they are told that, besides the female virgins,"And there shall wait on them [the Muslim men] young boys of their own, as fair as virgin pearls." (SURA LII:24) and "They shall be attended by boys graced with eternal youth, who will seem like scattered pearls to the beholders." (SURA LXXVI:19)

One of the reasons I won't support Mitt Romney for President is the fact that he took it upon himself to inflict gay marriage on Massachusetts. Oh, his apologists have long claimed that the Massachusetts Supreme Court forced him to do so, but that's a lie. The Goodrich opinion did call for the legislature to change the marriage law, but the legislature chose not to change the law. It's accurate to say that then-Gov. Romney single-handedly implemented gay marriage in Massachusetts. No other Governor has done this, and I agree with fellow FReeper EternalVigilance that Mitt Romney was the most liberal state Governor in the history of our nation.

EternalVigilance, by the way, is America's Party 2012 presidential nominee. There's a lot to like about America's Party, including its plan for winning the 2012 election without getting caught up in a big money/big media campaign. America's Party envisions three million Christians, each waging their own front porch campaign, with each meeting goal of turning out twenty voters on election day. Those 60-million votes will win the presidential election, and could win a majority in the US House and a goodly number of seats in the US Senate this year. Come talk with EternalVigilance -- Tom Hoefling -- every Tuesday and Thursday night on the America's Summit call. Details at http://www.selfgovernment.us

I'm glad he has a real name. Were I to write in "Eternal Vigilance" it might not result in an actual vote for the party.

These leftists like to spout off that “Jesus never addressed the homosexual issue”, which is a lie in reality. Jesus kept the WHOLE LAW perfectly; that meant that he did not practice homosexuality nor condone it.

The law included the admonition of the Lord that homosexuality is abominable to Him. Christ kept that law, as well as all other laws.

One thing that made me gag was seeing this one ELCA church in a small town in rural Minnesota flying the abomination rainbow flag. So it’s not limited to the cities.

At this point in time I am torned between preaching to liberals that antibible homosexual charity is a scam run by fascists to punish them and whore them, or letting them get screwed by the fascists who make them believe that and encouraging them to indulge in homosexual feminist whoredom.

The attacks against the Bible won’t end with homosexuality, either here in America or overseas. These attacks are aimed directly at the heart of Christianity, intending its eventual demise.

And all these Homos who claim to be Christians have been telling us that the verses are "just misunderstood". (emphasis on the limp wrist).

Yes, in no uncertain terms, the Bible condemns homosexuality. It is a mortal sin. It is a behavior that should not be encouraged. Practicing homosexuals are going to end up in Hell. That is a promise from God.

Any Homos out there? REPENT!!!!

Unfortunately, the same thing that has happened to the lands that gave us John Calvin, Abraham Kuyper, and Jonathan Edwards. You don't want to know what incredible wickedness happens today in First Congregational Church of Northhampton and First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, the two Massachusetts churches where Edwards once preached (hint: lesbianism is only part of the evil happening in Northhampton). As for the heritage of Kuyper, to ask to go to the “Old Church” in Amsterdam is a euphemism for wanting a prostitute since it is in that city's red light district. I understand that Calvin's church in Geneva is theologically almost as bad, though my information is outdated and I don't want to speak with authority.

When God removes his candlestick from a church, great indeed is the darkness in the land (cf. Rev. 2:6).

Of course, that's no cause for pessimism from those who profess Christ. “The church has existed from the beginning of the world and will be to the end, for Christ is an eternal King who cannot be without subjects. This holy church is preserved by God against the fury of the whole world, although for a while it may look very small and as extinct in the eyes of man. Thus during the perilous reign of Ahab, the Lord kept for Himself seven thousand persons who had not bowed their knees to Baal” (Belgic Confession, Article 27).

Scotland before the Reformation was a barely civilized wilderness virtually at the edge of Europe. It was poor, its people and even princes were largely uneducated, and the nation had only minimal relevance. Nobody familiar with the subsequent history of Scotland would make such statements about the role of Scotsmen a century or two after the Reformation, and there are reasons that some of the key leaders of the industrial revolution and the development of modern capitalism hailed from Scotland.

As a Protestant, it appears to me that God raised up virtually irrelevant countries like Scotland to shame and embarrass the great powers of the day, especially the Hapsburgs of Spain and what much later became Austria, but also the rulers of France and the various wealthy Italian city-states. I find it interesting that today, Anglicans from Nigeria and Presbyterians from Brazil and Korea are sending missionaries to re-evangelize the nations which not that many generations ago were sending out missionaries.

Who, a hundred years ago, could ever have expected that Presbyterianism and Anglicanism would be collapsing in Scotland and England while the centers of orthodoxy in both confessional traditions would be in nations which the British then considered hopelessly backward?

Christ is an eternal King who cannot be without subjects, but He certainly makes no promises that he won't replace wicked grandchildren of once-faithful subjects by raising up new subjects who possess the faith others merely profess.
