Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.

The upcoming election is just as rigged as this primary debacle has been. Too many here choose to forget romney conspiring with Secretaries of State to keep Rick and Newt off of the ballot in states like Virginia... and preibus engineering certain swing states to allow dims to cross over and to vote for the socialist romney... or the game that they played with electors and lying about the vote outcome as in the Iowa caucus or the 45 million dollars that romney spent attacking Conservatives in ways that he would never use against obama... no... they see him as a savior against obama. One is pink and one is brown... one is a muslim and one is a member of a science fiction cult... but look on the inside and they both are dark shades of pink.

Right with you trisham. I’m certain all of us are voting in November and voting straight conservative up and down our ballots. TEA Party patriot (no experience required) wherever possible and as for the presidential choice, whatever each of ultimately decides, I’m certain it will be after prayerful consideration.

I think there are many many valid points made here. Things that really needed to be said.
I have tried in the last few months to wean myself away from here and I have tried hard. It is difficult. Other places just aren’t the same, but I am very hesitant to support FR like I used to do. Look I am a 58 year old female pharmacist, I go to church, donate to Salvation Army,
help animals, belong to garden club and hoping soon to be a DAR member. There is absolutely no reason for my to be called names when I express an opinion that is not hook line and sinker with what you believe. I thought this place was about intelligent discussion, but more often if you express an opinion that is something different you are called troll, cussed out just many horrible things.
And tell me why would anyone new want to join here when they are made fun of. Granted there are a lot of people that come here to put conservatives in a bad light. They will say racist things to make conservatives look bad. I have seen that more than once. But I should not be called names because I will vote for Romney. I sent money to Cain, we gave it our best shot there. But there is no way I will not take any opportunity to vote against this communist, islamist phoney in the White House. I just can’t do it.

Why should FR not also take their stand and for that matter "Strengthen Their Position?"

Because it is divisive and exclusionary, and I struggle to understand how that position helps the country, or Free Republic.

I understand Jim's views. I also understand that FR belongs to Jim, and it is up to him where he takes it.

I would find it helpful to have some insight into the plan though, because I just don't understand it. What outcome does FR want for the election, and what outcome for the website? Right now, it seems that if you want to stay as a Freeper you are required to allow yourself to be marginalized, because we refuse to support the election. From where I sit, this is the absolute wrong time to allow ourselves to be marginalized. The only way we get a seat at the table is to be on the team.
