Let's put this to bed. We have bigger fish to fry.

Everyone please send whatever you are able to, whether it is $10, $100 or $1,000+. The DUmmies, Morons, Kos Kiddies and that crew are laughing up their sleeves. Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.

Thank you for posting that Quix. I guess I haven’t heard it for close to twenty years.

I used to think the FR community would be the people whom I could trust in a revolution. Now, I would be afraid of being shot in the back.

Jim Robinson has been way more congenial to folks calling him names and supporting his enemies than I ever would have been.

The goal is a more Conservative America - pro-life, pro-family, pro-God.

If it is too late to see that happen nationally (and it may not be yet) we can still help it happen individually.

The attacks were personal, not philosphical or based on fact, and the moderators allowed it against almost anybody who supported Perry.

Spare me. The Perry supporters dished it out as much as they took it. That was the case for all candidate factions. Heck, the anti-Perry posts were nothing compared to the infighting between the Newt and Santorum camps over the last three months.

It's part of the primary process on FR. Happens every contested GOP presidential primary. And usually folks can largely coalesce behind the winner. Except, of course, when winner in question really didn't win the primary as much as he destroyed any alternative to him, and thereby left nothing but scorched earth for the GOP. Which is the case now.

I remember when this was both a "debating society" and a place where grassroots action (e.g. protests) was organized, so I know that it's possible to do both. Second, what exactly are we "getting done"?

Hear here!!

Excellent questions both! I sincerely hope you receive a thoughtful answer but don't hold your breath!

Well, everyone else has added their two cents so I might as well....

*I miss the folks that used to be here when I joined*. I think the consequences of them leaving, either on their own or shown the door is the failure to raise money. In the meantime, dollar amounts have been raised, citing higher costs and new equipment. It's not going to happen as there are less and less posters to donate. (Personally, I almost never post but dang, this thread has been the most interesting thread to follow in a long time!)

Donation means voluntary but it doesn't feel very voluntary anymore. It feels more like Homeowners Association dues, except we have CC&R's that are not quite defined (other than don't talk about voting for Romney, if that's what you're doing). Heck, there are even published lists with posters names on it who "donate". Classic peer pressure but there just aren't enough posters willing to give money in these job-scarce times.

If questions are asked about the target money, much maligning ensues. As a result, there are usually more posters being shown the door, equaling fewer dollars raised. A very strange way to raise funds, to be sure, but not my worry. It's not "my house" as has been pointed out countless times. I just don't happen to think it's very smart business-wise. Oh well....it's not my business.

*Okay, I don't miss Howlin all that much :)

Oh give me a break. Have you read the 1,000+ posts on this thread? Vile and emeaning: you have got to be kidding me.

Likewise...
