Let's put this to bed. We have bigger fish to fry.

Everyone please send whatever you are able to, whether it is $10, $100 or $1,000+. The DUmmies, Morons, Kos Kiddies and that crew are laughing up their sleeves. Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.

Set the record straight...

I am not a Romney ite. But we have to defeat Obama in Nov. There is no turning back now...

Contributions are down for two reasons

A lot of us don’t have any extra money. 4 dollar gas. 5 dollar gas in some parts of the country.

and

A lot of people don’t want to root for Obama to win

You're welcome. :)

You said you would pray and seek guidance from the Lord before making a donation to FR. Well, may I humbly suggest that the odds of my seeing your post, let alone responding to it, were very long. I don't read these threads usually, and have not been posting on FR much anymore. So maybe my seeing your post and being moved to respond the way I did is the Lord's way of answering your prayer? I don't mean to be presumptuous, but I could not stand by in good conscience and say nothing while you perhaps spent even a small fraction of such a tiny sum on FR when I know the truth.

true Conservatism

What is "true" conservatism? Can you provide a definition? Not a list of policy positions, but a definition.

I have a number of times with a clear conscience

because for all it’s flaws . . .

I believe FR HAS and sometimes still does

do

THE BODY OF CHRIST A LOT OF GOOD.

IF

I can still feel that way honestly in my heart, mind and spirit, then I don’t mind giving a portion of my meager tithes to FR. I wouldn’t even mind fasting a Bigmac to do so.

The people hereon—minus a few mods—are wonderful conservatives. The relationships alone are a great encouragement and resource.

And the dialogue with many has been top flight. I don’t know if that can persist or return, or not. I’ve had my wings clipped to my shoulder joints for no good reason. That hurts and is sad. But it doesn’t change the fact that FR is still the best conservative site in terms of numbers, software, and information on the net. That deserves something.

Anyway—as I said, I’m still praying about it. Missionary work is still a high priority to me, too.

But then, in some respects, FR is a mission field, too. LOL.

Don’t tell him that Reagan named Richard Schweiker, a true Rockefeller Republican, as his VP in 1976 for ticket balance. Right before the convention no less. He then made him HHS Secretary in 1981. If he did that today, some here would want him purged. If Reagan were alive and healthy today, he would give one hell of a good speech for Mitt Romney in Tampa.

Therefore, the donors are the true owners.

I hope the owner keeps that in mind the next FR is sued. Be sure to send him your address.

I never got the impression that Free Republic in any way sanctioned any attacks on Perry supporters.

The attacks were personal, not philosphical or based on fact, and the moderators allowed it against almost anybody who supported Perry. Perry supporters repeatedly hit the abuse button but got no help from the mods. I won't pay good money to be called an idiot, stupid, ignorant, a redneck Texan, pond scum, told to go get a brain, etc, and that isn't the worst of the name calling that went on. It was really over the top and that is why so many of us left and took our checkbooks with us. We weren't an overly sensitive group of thin skinned people, we only wanted to be treated with some basic respect.

You don’t believe that free discussion takes place here?

Nope! Not at all. When I signed up this was a place were REAL honest debate took place and ideas were honed and refined. Sadly, that is no longer the case and hasn't been for quite some time now.

I’d like my $20.00 returned.

You used it. All donations cover the current operating expenses.

Windy is here. Yapped at him the other day.

You mean Captain Reagan who by the second half of the 1940s was already starting to be seen as a communist fighting conservative, testifying to Congress and naming names, working with the FBI, having to carry a gun for self defense from the left, Reagan?

The Reagan after 1948 was campaigning for Republicans like Eisenhower, who he campaigned for in 1952 and again in 1956, and then campaigned for Nixon against JFK in 1960, already having earned a reputation as an active speaker for conservatism for years?

The Reagan who formally registered Republican in 1962 and spoke at the Goldwater convention in 1964? The one that Mitt and his father stormed out of in formal protest against conservatism?

Reagan was famous for his conservatism before the Vietnam War, and the Great Society, Roe V Wade, the abortion wars, Jimmy Carter, decades of Cold War defeats, and the radical 1960s, before the Reagan Revolution and the Contract with America, and Clinton, and the Gore election of 2000, Mitt Romney would not even register Republican during the Reagan Presidency or vote for him. Romney, at almost age 60, had a stroke (or something) and suddenly, unexplainedly, became a totally different person around 2006, merely to run for national office.

Reagan and Romney have nothing in common.

I like how you pretend to not know much about Romney and then when you get an in depth response you pretend to know my posting history, and then claim that I would not have supported Reagan.

I went back into the military in my 30s, solely because of Reagan and of course voted for him both times, so you can take your little punk stuff off the table. By the way, I have always been an anti-Bircher, since I was a teen.

It is the liberals among us that make ridiculous claims like you made about me and my favorite president and the Birchers, that prefer Romney’s liberalism, and insult Reagan, that causes problems here at FR.

You know darn right well what conservatism is and don't bother playing games here with me about it. God given inalienable rights, as our Founding Founders understood, stated, fought for and died for, as embodied in the Declaration of Independence.

As for Free Republic, you also know without having to ask what we stand for. Thus,

Wed Dec 15 2010 19:09:46 GMT-0800 (PST) by Jim Robinson.

One more time:
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our BORDERS, our constitution and our national sovereignty.
Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.
We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and FREEDOM of ASSOCIATION, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is NOT a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our GOD-GIVEN rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of Life.
Our God-given Life, Liberty and freedoms are NOT negotiable!!
For God, Family, Country, Life and Liberty!!
If you cannot live with the above, fine, but keep your mouth shut about it while on FR. Don't fight against us on ANY of our deeply held beliefs!!
DON'T TREAD ON ME!!
Anti Life & Liberty trolls will be ZOT on sight!!

++++

The real question is what do you stand for, and what you are now willing to support, whilst our country is faced with the likely re-election of a Marxist Obama and the alternative being a Liar, pretender Mitt Romney.
So where do you stand?

I do strongly believe

that in a participatory REPUBLIC even . . .

much MORE so a

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIVE COMMUNITY

THE CONTRIBUTORS NEED AND DESERVE

TO BE TREATED MUCH MORE

LIKE PART OF THE FAMILY.

AND GREATLY LESS

like barely tolerated distant, smelly, drunken shirt-tail relatives. That hurts. Too often, that hurts A LOT, deeply and repeatedly. There's no justification for that. None.

And then when the near constant squeeze is put on the same barely tolerated 'smelly' shirt-tail relatives FOR THE FUNDS TO FUNCTION--THAT'S MORE THAN A LOT CHEEKY.

Yes, JR has done a huge service to all of us and to the country, the Republic, the planet by setting up FR, the software and the management these years.

HOWEVER, WE THE PEOPLE have written 99% of the content that attracted and attract people to FR.

WE THE PEOPLE have paid for Jim's sandbox and the sand.

Yet we get treated far too often like . . . squatters who'd better toe the line 100% perfectly or be instantly and arbitrarily rejected and that very sanctimoniously. That hurts. And that is thoroughly uncalled for.

And to expect folks to keep donating liberally after being treated that way repeatedly is not very good reality testing. It's actually more like self-defeating behavior.
