Get this logic. Perot who was loudly and proudly pro-choice in 1992 and 1996 is declared a true conservative, while Romney who changed his public position from pro-choice to pro-life before he ran in 2008 is not. Perot ran to the left of Bush I. Perot aped the positions of true RINOs like Rudman and Weicker. He got enough of the idiot vote to hand the election to Clinton.

Five reasons why you can find a silver lining in the heaviest cloud, so go right ahead and do nothing about the heaviest cloud.

Not as much as drawing more votes to your boy.

"if everyone who holds their nose and votes Romney would vote 3rd party, Obama AND Romney could be defeated.... Especially if all the nose holders joined the brave patriots and donated and CAMPAIGNED 3rd party."

In 1994, several members told a reporter for the LA Weekly that they would all be departing. They were going to walk out to the Santa Monica pier and catch a ride into space.

Why does this remind me of the Third Partiers? Well, read on.

This group thought that hidden in the trail of the comet Hal-Bopp was a mother ship. It was coming to pick up those who hoped for the impossible: transportation aboard the mother ship--a "Beam me up, Scotty!"

But that did not take place, and in October of ‘96, they went to southern California and rented a large seven-bedroom house in the wealthy community of Rancho Santa Fe, north of San Diego, at 18241 Colina Norte. They called the place, "the Monestary" and became known for their Web design business, "The Higher Source."

On Friday night, March 21, 1997, the members went to a chain restaurant called Marie Callender's, where they ordered 39 identical meals of salad and pot pies, and finished off with cheesecake. This was to be their final earthly meal, because the next day, the comet Hal-Bopp would be in its closest proximity to Earth. We all know what happened next for the group called the Heaven's Gate. Their impossible dream ended in suicide. And hoping for a Third Party presidential victory is equally an impossible dream which will end up in suicide for this nation. Guaranteed.

To make a Third Party victory possible requires years of preparation, organization, money solicitation and effort beyond just taking a walk down the Santa Monica Pier or drinking some Kool Aid. It takes work beyond your wildest imagination and patriots on the level of our Founders. For those who have musings for a Third Party, the moral of the story is, it is indeed an impossible dream.

Scary isn’t it..that more and more people rather get freebies then actually have to WORK for it..more people are on food stamps then anytime in our history. This is what Obama and his cronies want, more people relying on Government assistance so they will be slaves to the Govt

Romney actually contributed funds to Democrats to run for office.

That's just not right.

Is reassuring Obama’s re-election the best scenario for the USA?

Voting is a civic duty is it not? How does throwing a tantrum and taking your ball and going home because you didn’t get your way beneficial to the country? I thought that part of being an adult or a good citizen was sometimes having to make decisions out of less than perfect options.

Yes, I have heard all of the arguments. NO MORE!! blah, blah blah. Or the better one, someone like Newt or Romney will make things worse and then it will get blamed on the GOP.

Those are all strawman arguments. One, I do not think that Romney could be worse than Zero. I definitely don’t support him. But if given the choice between him and Zero, I choose Romney. At least with him there is a snowball’s chance of getting something done to fix this mess, even more so with a GOP House and Senate. With Zero, there is no chance, no matter who controls the House and Senate. Not to mention the fact the we WILL lose the SCOTUS for a generation or two. And we know that Romney is a US citizen and does not hate this country.

Obviously, we all need to support our candidate in the primaries. But in the general election, we MUST be rid of Obama. If not, we can all pat ourselves on the back and gloat about how “principled” we are as the country we love circles the drain.

Besides, I do not know why sitting out the election if the “right” candidate (whatever that is) is not nominated considered the only position of principle. My position is also one of principle, defeat Obama. When I vote against Obama, I will be doing so with just as much principle as the person who withholds their vote because they didn’t get their way.

This is nothing personal towards you, it is just so frustrating to see this sentiment so prevalent on this site. Do you think the average voter thinks this way? They will vote one way or the other. If true blue Conservatives won’t support the GOP candidate, why should they? In the end, politics is the art of the possible.

You have to hand it to liberals and Fabian Socialists for one thing. They understand incrementalism. They seem to be smart enough to understand that in the real world you usually don’t get everything that you want in one fell swoop. Why can’t Conservatives understand this?

Out of the ten people who signed up with the RNC to run as official candidates under the Republican label the only ones who'd had a lifetime of participating in the Republican party were Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Herman Caine.

I supported all three of them. I did not support the other 7 who were all arguably RINOs or not even Republicans.

So, which one of my boys is it you don't like?

You always do this you know ~ accuse anybody you are debating of being a commie or a democrat or something ~ YOU ARE WRONG AGAIN.

Now, does JR know you are openly campaigning for Romney again?

.

You err, Sir, in your obervation about "Candidate Romney" bringing "nothing of interest" to this 2012 election cycle ...

I for one, want to know "everything" about the Celestial Planet Kolob ...

And if I ever get with speaking distance of Archbishop Willard, that is "precisely" what I will querry him about ...

Unless, of course, George Stephanopulous beats me to it ... during a Romney presidential debate with Obama ...

In that scenario, perhaps President Bush-41 or Rush Limbaugh could jump in and help Mittens out of that SEVERELY "tough spot" ...

Oh, please feel free to tattle on me and any other folks who say the wisest thing in November is to give Romney the nod (if he makes it to the candidacy and your dream isn’t fulfilled). Please do. Beg them to ban me for saying that Mitt Romney is not as horrible as Barack Obama.

You and a bunch of echo chambers will have FR all to yourselves along with Jim Rob. I’ll be gone and about half the others too, I’ll be sad about what happened to it. And you’ll find me on Townhall.

The way it's done is you form a coalition partner with the Democrats or Republicans, and then grow your coalition until you take over the party machinery.

The commies did that with the Democrats and now run that party.

The math behind winning in a single member district (50%+1) is what inhibits the development of meaningful third parties in the United States. This is why all of our political, cultural and economic coalitions are put together prior to running candidates. Some folks call this a 'two party' system, but it's really just a naturally occurring bi-modal saddle of political interest.

You can put together a ruling coalition in a lot less time than 10 years ~ LBJ picked off the remaining African-American voters from the Republican column in 1964. Richard NIxon picked off the Southern white voters from the Democrat column in 1968 and 1972. Then, Ronald Reagan pulled in about half the Catholic coalition in his 1980 run, and made that deal permanent in 1984 ~

Bill Clinton did a permutation of the game by letting Perot split the Conservative vote in 1992 and 1996. In 2000 the Republican party was able to reassert itself "Presidentially". Obama pulled in the yout' vote in 2008 but he's lost it.

At the moment the yout' vote is in play. As I pointed out months ago Romney, a retired, wealthy BOSS (well known for firing people) probably doesn't have much attraction to yout', but Gingrich, a former college professor, probably does ~ particularly the part where he was the only guy in the last century to actually balance a federal budget for long.

Romney's big draw is among the blue hairs with the industrial and municipal bond collections. Actually they've never voted Democrat, so there's no new coalition building going on in that quarter FUR SHUR.

I've noticed in years of pointing out the way elections are won in this country that the Mittbots are the must stubborn about sticking to the old "win the nomination first then dive for the middle" theory. No one ever won an election in the history of America by doing that.

What's with the deal where you are always accusing Conservatives of being commies?

You do that everywhere. Then if not that, that we are soft on Al Sharpton, or whatever. Those are the tales you send off to JIm Rob all the time.

Get a grip on yourself man ~ this is politics.

Stuffingenvelopes will find it tossed back to him in a query about those famous Greek Orthodox monasteries where women are never permitted.

You'll need a different moderator to get the Kolob question "Lobbed" ~

I"m not sure you could get Wallace to do it without breaking out laughing. It'd just mystify Obama. He's not quite clear on where he's at yet. Is it Egypt ? Is it Java? Morning or evening?

The fix is in ... blah, blah, blah. Yes the RNC suck and push RINOs like Romney because that is what they do. That’s a given. Agreed.

But in this case there was no “fix” since the RNC did not force Santorum and Gingrich to split the conservative vote. They could have formed a coalition but chose to not do so and thus we watched a slow motion trainwreck. The RNC did not have to do much this time around but watch conservatives flail about and shoot themselves in the foot.

The lesson here is that despite liberals, RINOs and the RNC conservatives must rise above all of it and unite.
