Primaries are squirrelly things with their pitiful turnouts. Activism, astroturfing, etc. has an outsize influence with them, that is less in a general election with higher turnout.

Nontheless, primaries are how candidates are picked today. Something more ideal would be, perhaps, for every registered voter to a party to get a mailed primary ballot to make it very easy to respond. And no cross party primaries.

It would be difficult for Mitt Romney to do anything now that 80% of Obama hating Americans would really care about.

Well actually you can’t blame this one on the RNC, Rove or some convenient whipping boy.

I most definitely will blame it on the RNC. Romney’s vast millions to obliterate his opponents in the primaries came from back door fundraising for seven years with the help and blessing of the RNC.
The fix was in for Mittens as the heir apparent...and those of us who were silly enough to think that the voters might have wanted a Conservative for a nominee had to be silenced and told to go back of the bus...by none other than the
GOP-E.

The problem you have is that you imagine this was a normal primary season ~ but it wasn't.

Romney and his crowd were found cheating all too many times for any of them to be trusted. PLUS we have record low turnouts. If the choices presented by the candidates are too narrow no one is showing up to vote FOR Romney. He's already lost the party base. We are doomed with him at the top of the list.

You are personally responsible for this and you will need to get him to drop out of the race.

FWIW, general polls (which aren’t affected by squirrelly turnout factors) show Romney beginning to pull ahead of Obama, or maybe that should be Obama beginning to fall behind Romney. Romney is appearing to begin to suffice as the “ham sandwich” that most Obama haters would choose. Not ideal — so don’t even think about pulling out that straw man — but functional. The overwhelming factor in November will be Obama hate.

Someone posted: “It will be a shame if a few hard core anti-Romney voters stay home and end up giving us 4 more years of Obama.”

To which you replied: “What makes you think Obama would stop at just 4 more years? If the Democrats don’t mind bending the “natural born citizen” constitutional requirement, why not ignore the 22nd amendment too?”

I see the obvious answer as “anyone who thinks that the president is doing what is necessary to overcome an obstructive and irrelevant congress uses Executive Orders to bypass congress; appoints czars to rule over cabinet secretaries; who gives his ideological syncophants who use regulatory agencies to promulgate regulations that are the same or more power-grabbing than the Pelosi - Reed Congress actually refused to pass would “ignore the 22nd amend too?” Other than those few people, everyone knows that BHO is as pure as the wind driven snow and is beyond corruption and is also alleged to be a ‘constitutional scholar.’ Although I’m wondering what country’s constitution he is so knowledgable of, because it does not seem to be the one passed in 1787 that is the basis of the representative republic formerly known as the United States of America.

He won’t, because the Wicked Witch from Illinois will be running in 2016. So lets trash our guy, who has a good chance to win now, so maybe we can get the perfect candidate in 2024. And remember, a lot of us will not be around any longer.

MItt could drop out of the race.

That'd be a first step towards being helpful.

The two sides are always fairly evenly matched. This race is different though ~ both Romney and Obama have a large number of potential voters who do not support either one of them and would feel disgust about casting a vote for either one.

The only question is how many of them will act on moral principles and/or self-interest and NOT vote for either one.

It is possible we could get a Constitutional majority in the House and the Senate and watch Romney go down to defeat.

Obviously the Constitution would give us the prerogative of removing the President and putting our own guy in ~ just like a parliament selecting a new Prime Minister, so that wouldn't be a Constitutional catastrophe.

But MItt can end all that speculation now by dropping out and leaving it to Republicans to select their own candidates. We really don't need his kind.

You clearly overvalue Romney. So far he’s brought nothing of interest to the race.

All Mitt has to do is not bring the gaping holes that Obama has brought. Mushy moderate positions on jobs, for example, look like heaven compared to Obama’s willful sabotage. That suffices to get America’s deciding vote even if mu never would.

It looks too close to call to me. Both major politial candidates are horrible when it comes to supporting sodomy and abortion. I'm not voting for either. I'm voting for Goode.

Here's Goode's position from Feb 24, 2004...

"Issue Position: Marriage
I believe that marriage should be a union between a man and a woman. I am opposed to gay marriages and so-called gay civil unions. I support the federal Marriage Protection Amendment."

You cannot escape the leveraging tendency. Put that in your conscience towards God and smoke it.
