Threat against Sen. Marco Rubio under investigation, his office says
Miami Herald ^ | 04/25/2012

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is the target of a threat deemed credible enough to merit police protection in Washington, D.C., and at his home in West Miami, his office said late Tuesday.

The freshman senator rocketed to national political stardom in recent weeks as he jumped to the top of the shortlist of potential running mates for presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. From CNN to The Daily Show, Rubio has become a staple of cable-news chatter about whether Romney will offer him the spot — and whether he would take it.

But the fame has made him not just a magnet for support and criticism, but now the target of a threat.

Rubio’s office said no additional information about the threat would be released for now. The U.S. Capitol Police and the West Miami Police Department are providing security and investigating.

Neither agency could be reached for an official comment.

A police cruiser was parked in front of Rubio’s West Miami home Tuesday night. The senator was not home; he is scheduled to deliver a foreign policy speech Wednesday at the Brookings Institution in Washington.

If Rubio became Romney’s running mate, he would receive around-the-clock protection from the U.S. Secret Service.

It wasn't me. However, I did lv a voicemail and didn't hear back. But that wasn't a threat it was a complaint about the federal bungling bureaucracy that is full of chair warmers who are trained to say, "There is nothing I can do."

Well, then "you're fired."

Just wish his staff would return my call. They are helpful sometimes and other times, seem pre-occupied. Maybe his entire staff was scared to go to work yesterday. Just sayin'. A weird lady where I live is suddenly almost stalking me but nothing I can do unless she stands thus and so. Now if I say anything about her, it's would be a crime cuz in Florida, free speech is already a memory. The Constitution in Florida has been steamrolled.

The lowest of the low have the upper hand and prance around. They are stupid simply because when they say something that they think is free speech, they're next. Florida leads the nation in rights being removed and the police depts here have had the memo for quite some time.

If a person gives an opinion against a politician, Obama new law that's a FELONY.

umm.. you need to do your homework, unless you’re trolling

assuming you’re not a drooling troll or a dem lurker... (but I repeat myself)

to be eligible... you must be 35 years old, have lived in the US for 14 years, and be a natural born citizen.

to be a natural born citizen, whichs means you are a citizen naturally as there are no alternatives, means... you must be born on US soil AND be born of TWO citizen parents. if BOTH parents are not citizens at the time of your birth, then you are a citizen but not a NATURAL BORN citizen

there is a difference... which is why the founders specifically changed the wording from citizen to natural born citizen. there is no confusion over the definition and the term wasn’t invented by the founders. indeed, the term had been in use for centuries at the time of the founding

the supreme court even defined it in happersett v minor in 1874.

the 14th amendment involves citizenship, not a natural born citizen.

so you see... there is OBVIOUSLY no way Rubio, whose parents weren’t US citizens until he was 4, could be a natural born citizen.

if you’re now wondering how the current resident whose father was a Kenyan citizen could be natural born... then welcome to being a ‘birther’

I love the simple phrasing of this clear explanation.

Why can't the three branches of the US Gov't get this?

Yes, GOP has never won without Ohio in recent history.

You do realize that if FL. goes blue, the GOP cannot win?

If the dems ever lock FL. along with Calif. and New York, then they own the country.

I understand your take on English language. As a naturalized citizen myself, who learned English not at home but in a convent school, I am perhaps the most fierce English only as official language person. I say that because bi-lingual & tri-lingual countries have ongoing turmoil & conflicts & fights based on language issues. Our neighbor Canada is good example.

However as my tag line says, winning is paramount. Defeating Barack Hussein Obama takes precedence over everything else in my book. If that means grovelling with Hispanic voters, that is a small price to pay.

pose that simple definition to the division of elections in your state... and ask them how 0bama can be on the ballot

having been president does NOT make you eligible for the office or the ballot

getting away with a crime once does not mean you get to commit that crime into perpetuity

I don’t think Obama can win Florida in 2012. The seniors do not like Obama anymore, and they vote.

You would be correct if Obama presidency was officially declared to be a crime. Since the reality is opposite, a precedence has been set. So it is not correct to say a crime has been committed. I don’t like it and you don’t like it, but we do not have the authority to make it an official crime. Only the courts and congress have that power.

Therefore it can be repeated, unlike crimes as defined by law.

What are your credentials?

deliberately undermining the Constitution of the United States by members of the federal government would not only break their oath of office but would be working to undermine the country... otherwise known as treason

treason is a crime in all countries.

i called Rubio’s miami office to see if they believed the senator was eligible to run as vp by being eligible to assume office.

they believe he is eligible AND a natural born citizen, even tho they admit his parents were cuban when he was born.

like dems, they are pushing the incorrect assumption that being a citizen born in the US makes you a natural born citizen.

this is concerning as these people are working in a US senator’s office and don’t have a basic understanding of citizenship in the country

i’ll try the washdc office next and see how that flies. i expect more of the same.

If it is treason, which court you plan on using to prove it?
Or are you acting as the judge, jury & executioner?

I believe the laws as passed by the congress and duly signed by the president are the final word. Even though I agree with you on what constitutes a NBC, my prognostication is powerless and irrelevant.

So I will accept the reality on the ground as the final word on whether Rubio is eligible or not. Just for the record, I am NOT supporting Rubio for VP in 2012. Regardless of his NBC status, he does not have enough experience in government, business or military to be ready to be president if it becomes necessary.

as expected... rubio’s washdc said the same thing.

the staffer believes he is a natural born citizen because he’s a citizen. if you ask what’s the difference, they falter then get back on topic. they can’t explain the difference, as to them a citizen and a natural born citizen are the same... which they are most certainly are not.

What’s the “cut to the chase” question here? How about?:

“What do you think the Framer’s intended when they used the phrase ‘natural born Citizen?’”

This issue needs to hammer every politician who holds a townhall meeting between now and Nov.
