Should it make us feel warm and fuzzy that in the 11 years since 9-11 our government has been progressively more aggressive about taking our rights, and by looking at all American citizens as potential perps, so as to keep us safe?

The terrorists hate us for our freedoms. Once the government takes all our freedoms, there will be no reason for the terrorists to hate us anymore. Simple.

I did not see the drone location in Montgomery co., Texas. The MC sheriffs office was just plain giddy when they received their DHS grant for the drone.

The boy’z were testing their toy’z and the damn thing crashed into the swat tank.....funny as all get out!!!!

Yeah, I read all of that when Montgomery County got their drone with Homeland Security money (or taxpayer money since you and I fund it), they were quite proud. I guess the fine folks of Montgomery county like having the police spend taxpayer money to spy on them. I can't complain too much, all over Texas, more and more cities and law enforcement agencies are ramping up their surveillance of the subjects, I mean us citizens.

The map shows 2 over Austin and 1 over San Marcos.

Someone is really curious about the happenings in Central Texas.

The only one over Austin is the Texas Department of Public Safety one. It's possible that it's based out of the National Guard HQ at Camp Mabry (both Army and Air National Guard), but being that it's DPS it could be deployed anywhere in the state. I'd like to think it was being deployed along the border. It is listed as "Expired" though.

As for the other two, one is Hayes County Emergency Management - kind of disappointing since I always like Hayes County and would think they would stay away from drones. It also listed as "Expired".

The other is Texas State University in San Marcos and is listed as "Active". I can actually see several reasons for them to have one or more drones, similar to Texas A&M having drones with their engineering department.

I believe Uncle Sugar is gearing up for something...not sure what, but hundreds of millions being spent to monitor U.S. citizens.

You should be more worried about the billions spent on cameras that are already in place all over the country. I've been paying attention and more and more cities here in Texas are putting them up and having them linked in to their police/emergency centers, and I'm hearing rumors of them wanting to link up to a state-wide network.

The way the State of Texas is run, it would not surprise me one bit if money was already being spent on such a project. Texas cities and the State of Texas have fallen in love with surveillance.

We suffer from drones in the family (on my wife’s side, of course) some of them are female and some are male. I really do mean the part about my wife’s side, my side of the family is never heard from, if I call them they ask where I have been and why haven’t they seen me but they never call us.
