The Nazi analogy is apropos. If you aren't reading everything you can get your hands on about underground resistance movements you should be.

The Soviet partisans make a particularly interesting study because they received very little outside aid and they functioned in loose networks over vast expanses. They were also very, very effective despite the prescence of vigorous and well-equipped anti-partisan forces.
