Mary Matalin on Rush today - and is she off base? (Stunned)
4-23-2012 | Self

FREEPER COMMENTS REQUESTED: Is it just me, or is Mary Matalin way off base today with her entire theme for the show (guest hosting for Rush). Now I normally like her work tremendously, but her idea that we should search for "virtue" in government and for "virtuous people" to be in government seems extremely naive.

The only virtue in government is its limit. We will never get a government full of virtuous people. By definition, government is power and virtuous people are not drawn to that. Our Founders knew that. This is why they insisted on LIMITED government. Wake up Mary!

-—Didn’t Milton Friedman say something like, ‘we should work toward a system where bad people are forced to do the right thing.’-—

Good people would be required to implement it.

I like Williams and Belling too. I forgot about them.

Matlin is just terrible today. She is sooooo boring. She is just droning on with that terrible radio voice.

I think I used to like her when she and Dee Dee Myers did “Equal Time” in the 90s. Never could understand how she could be married to Carvel and haven’t paid any attention to her since those days.

She just said that if you are over 30 and enjoy a glass of wine, you shouldn’t have a Twitter account.

Years of living with Serpant head have taken their toll!

And now Paul Turncoat Ryan is coming on...yes, the author of “SUB-GATE”.

I’m going to give my dog a cold shower and hopefully wipe out the memory of listening to Mary for twenty minutes today.

Steyn apparently does long hits of nitrous oxide between air segments - he laughs and sputters for air uncontrollably through his monologues. It’s a shame because he is obviously a talented, intelligent writer but I think he’s afraid to get too heavy on the air.

Once upon a time they had a mad scramble to find a guest host and Mike McConnell, formerly of WLW Cincinnati and now of WGN Chicago, filled in. He is a solid, entertaining professional who also had a national once-a-week show thanks to his Clear Channel ties.

With due respect, you are just as clueless as Mary is today. Yes, I know the Founders wanted virtue - but their insurance policy against lack of virtue was LIMITED GOVERNMENT. Less government equals more virtue - and any body can figure that out. Meanwhile, how the hell are we supposed to figure out who is and who is not virtuous. Ed Gillespie, former head of the RNC, as a model for VIRTUE? GIMME A BREAK.

No change there then, unless you believe that lovers of Rush & Mrs. Rush’s mail order ice tea just happen to win the caller lottery on a daily basis.

Sounds like Glenn Beck’s spiel. I don’t have it on, but now I’m tempted, out of morbid curiosity.

When I heard she was hosting today, I knew it was a bad idea.

I’d rather listen to Mark Steyn with duct tape over his mouth than Matalin. I would laugh just imagining what he’d be saying.

Hedgecock has his own show now on Radio America (3-6 PST). He was always good. I turned off Matalin within 10 seconds. She’s a bore, a moderate at best, and married to a snake.

You're probably correct. I think I'm just over reacting. I guess like most, I feel like I'm missing something if Rush hasn't offered his analysis. This being said, you'd have to admit, his choice of guest hosts is beyond pathetic, and is quite insulting to his listening audience. Mark Davis (Remember he insulted the Tea Party while filling in for Rush), and Mary Matalin?!?! I'm fairly certain he does have control over who his guest hosts are. For all the yapping he does about his increased listening audience, these guest host decisions do not reflect positively on him. Look how many loyal listeners opted to tune out today.

I'll give him some slack for his voice and policy issues concerning his time off, but his guest host decisions are inexcusable!

I agree with her, I think. I’m not listening to the show.

I'm gonna come down hard on you because you commented without listening to the show and therefore you have totally missed MY point. Yes, we should have virtuous folks in power as opposed to not virtuous - NO DUH!. But who decides what is virtue? Obama thinks he is virtuous and so do his supporters. Same for Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Nancy Pelosi. So what is this with "virtue." The safeguard, the ultimate safeguard, is LIMITED government.

Matalin’s another Peggy Noonan besides married to Serpent Head, what can you expect? She’s part of the beltway elite. When Rush is absent, I don’t listen, FWIW.
