Let me tell you a little story.
A year ago this month, Jerome Corsi’s “Where’s the Birth Certificate?” blockbuster was the top-selling book in the nation – weeks before it was even released!
On top of that, Donald Trump was telling everyone who would listen that he couldn’t understand why Barack Obama refused to release his birth certificate.
It was in the midst of all this that I got a call from Corsi one morning. He told me his sources were telling him Obama was so desperate he was going to release a phony birth certificate to quell the controversy.
Within a week or 10 days, Obama did just that.

Really, though...we should all make sure we don’t go off the end.
He has not declared martial law, and we know it. Just saying things like that is enough to make other people roll their eyes and discount any opponent of Obama.
That is not to say he is destroying our freedom by eroding and tearing apart the Constitution in the way he has appointed czars, passed legislation and utilized Executive Orders.
But we are not under martial law yet. We will know it when we are.

One possible solution would be a constitutional amendment (1) barring any candidate who cannot prove that he meets the constitutional requirements for the federal office he is seeking from appearing on a state ballot, (2) voiding any electoral votes cast for such a candidate in any presidential or vice-presidential election, and (3) enabling Congress to enact appropriate legislation to make it a federal crime for an individual to gain access to the ballot as a candidate for federal office in any state when such individual cannot prove that he meets the constitutional requirements for the said office.
I know that we conservatives generally dislike any federal mandates on the states, but if the states cannot clean up their election procedures to conform with the Constitution, there has to be a way to reassert the fundamental principle that the federal Constitution is the supreme law of the land.

There really isn't a State problem at all.
The States do not Constitutionally (read legally) hold elections for candidates for President or Vice President. They hold elections for electors. The electors can vote for anyone I suppose, but it is, or was obviously in the minds of the Framers, up to Congress to discard votes for candidates not eligible to hold either office.

Read your Constitution. The Twentieth Amendment, section 3. It states:
""3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified."
A few notes.
1. There is no such position as a "President elect", legally, until such a time as Congress has accepted the results of the electoral college votes and a person is actually named as the "President elect". This means that the term "shall have qualified" refers to something other than the results of winning an election. There is only one place left in the Constitution having to do with "qualifications" for the office of President, that being the eligibility requirements from Article two.
"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."
2. Since it is the duty of Congress to name an interim President in the event of a President elect's "failure to qualify", they, Congress, must know whether or not to do so. This means that they, Congress, must be aware of whether or not a President elect meets the eligibility requirements from Article two. It is the burden of the President elect to "qualify" or "fail to qualify", thus NOT proving one is eligible under Article Two to Congress is the same thing as "failing to qualify."
3. How was Obama's eligibility proven to Congress without a valid long form birth certificate? He apparently does not possess such a thing or we would have seen it a million times by now.
4. The eligibility requirements start out with two simple words which forever preclude anyone who "fails to qualify" from serving as a legal president, "No person". Someone who sneaks in because Congress failed to uphold it's responsibility to enforce the Twentieth Amendment, section 3 doesn't legally exist. The Constitution cannot be fooled just because Congress didn't act when it was supposed to. A President elect either qualifies or he cannot ever be President, period.
Thus it is that we already have protection from someone who is ineligible to serve as President already written into the Constitution. Unfortunately, we also have a Congress that did not uphold it's oath to support the Constitution and a usurpation of the office of President is the result.
And here you are again. I’m convinced there is something to it, because it always seems to bring out the worst sort of vermin.

One, if the states DID something like this, the justice department would make it “null and void” ....AND....the republicans would do nothing about it.
Second, we don’t need a new law. We need an opposition party that believes in the constitution. Personally, I think it’s already gone too far.
Thanks, for posting those very relevant passages, but as you can guess, I am familiar with that section of the Constitution. You and I both are in agreement that there is a man in the White House who simply should never have got there in the first place. Where I think we disagree is what to do about it right now.
I don’t know how old you are, but I will guess you might be at least as old as me, and you can probably guess that I am speaking about realistic action, not what I would like to see happen, and what could legally happen.
It simply isn’t realistic to think that our elected officials who have been sitting on this all this time are going to do anything such as throw the bum out of office, short of a revolution. Perhaps that is what it will take.
It simply will not happen, and for us to obsess about it won’t do anything at all but keep us from getting something enacted to keep it from happening again.
I would suggest our efforts would be better spent at keeping that SOB off of the ballot in November.
