I’ve taken a down view of Mormonism since observing the tactics of Romney and his people. I have grown to dislike this person greatly and have begun looking at his religion as a cult on par with Scientology.

All that can change if a candidate emerges from a Mormon background that has a track record of conservatism.

Romney is a very poor representative for any group.

This lady may fit the bill. I know Steven Thayne who has been a State Rep and now is running for State Senate here in Idaho is equally conservative.

There are a lot at that level...and the US Congressional reps from Idaho and Utah and Wyoming and such are usually very conservatve.

Although an apointee of Eisenhower, Esra Taft Benson was another very conservative individual as Secretary of Agriculture. He later became President of the Church.

Anyhow here is a Black, Hatian, Mormon who is very conservative who won the GOP Congressional Primary for her district and will now run in November.

1. Hatch sponsored the Dream Act, but ultimately did not vote for it so it won't show up in his rating.

2. Hatch supported the Food Safety Act, but ultimately did not vote for it so it won't show up in his rating.

3. Hatch caved to Democrats during Memogate, when Republican Senate aid (and Hatch advisor) Manuel Miranda was found to have been viewing Democrat files on an unsecured shared Intelligene Committee server. Never mind that the memo, written by Democrat Senator Jay Rockefeller, was about secret Democrat plans to corrupt the bipartisan Intelligence Committee process by stringing along Republicans until they are ready to:

"Prepare to launch an independent investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the majority. We can pull the trigger on an independent investigation at any time-- but we can only do so once."

Since there was no vote on this matter, it won't show up in his rating.

4. Hatch was weak during the Clinton impeachment and Senate trial, often publicly offering Clinton a way out.

5. Hatch supported the judicial nominations of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Steven Breyer. Hatch voted for the nomination of Timothy Geithner for Secretary of Treasury and Eric Holder for Justice. Hatch previously voted to confirm Holder for Clinton's Justice department.

“All these years” is right. This would be the 7th time Hatch has run for Senate. It’s way past time that he has a career change. Senators were never meant to run upteen times. It is the length of time these guys spend in the House and Senate that demoralizes them. They become just like the ones they defeat for office after such lengthly service. Term limits is what is needed.

Romney will come in and back Hatch during the general election.

Ushering thru good judges is huge.

Going back years, Hatch has also gone to bat for those of us all over the country with ‘alternative health beliefs’ that has to fight now and again for our choice of health care.

Not following closely the problem with Hatch here, but the above is what he’s done for many with like minds.

If all the screaming belching Mormon haters adopted similar voting habits as the objects of their hatred, the socialist left would be in serious trouble.

I blame this crew for foisting Mitt Romney on us, because the one and only consolation in voting for such a moderate-progressive country clubber is sticking it to this bigoted group.

BTW, I've lived in majority Mormon communities in SE Idaho in a previous life and found them to be great neighbors and very conservative. One of their own, Congressman George Hansen of Idaho, went to prison in order to defang the IRS just a little. Think the IRS is bad now? You should have experiencd it 30 odd years ago before Congressman Hansen held hearings.

Let's stop being blind ga-ga over the Tea Party.

The quiet little secret is that the Tea Party cost us control of the Senate in 2010.

If we had not had that buffoon not-a-witch woman in Delaware and Angle in Nevada, we would have won with more mainstream candidates. That is reality.

Don't get me wrong; I love much about the Tea Party. Unfortunately, that forgot three very basic rules of elections:

1: Nothing really matters except the General Election. Winners of that govern us, losers go home.

2: Always nominate the candidate the candidate closest to your beliefs who CAN win the General. We had two much stronger candidates in ‘10 Nevada and Delaware Senate races, but we went with ultra-conservative losers.

3: Untra-conservative losers, are just that; losers.

These ratings have been meaningless for at least thirty years, like so many things in liberal America, rigged. People like Lugar, Hatch, and many others know how to rig the ratings. But do IN and UT people know that?

They are all part of the problems we now have in this country.

Yes, but, the American liberal people believe those old guys can still bring them some federal programs.

That's a tough one.

I don't put Castle in the same category as Hatch, but a GOP Delaware win is like Scott Brown winning in Massachusetts, a freak confluence of events not likely to happen again. What good would a Castle win have been if he votes like the Maine sisters, or the former Lincoln Chafee in Rhode Island? If Utah replaces Hatch in the Senate, I don't think it will be with a Democrat.

I do think that Angle had a shot, but it was an uphill battle against the Reid/SEIU/MSM machine in Nevada.

But I don't think the GOP had a chance to retake the Senate. I was watching those races closely, and posting my probabilistic analysis of the Rasmussen polls each week. Everything would have to have broken their way to win the Senate. I haven't started looking at the 2012 polls yet, but this should be a better year for Republicans.

The GOP needs a strong down-ticket strategy for this to happen. If Romney turns off the conservative base, you can kiss the Senate good-bye, too, if conservatives don't turn out to vote.

It is presumptuous for a man his age to make such promises. He would be older than the pope is when he took office, and the Holy Father is now beginning to feel the physical effects of great age. Just look at the tables: his changes of living out his term are less than he thinks. And looks are no guarantee. Cary Grant looked fine when he made his last speaking tour, he had been a fine athlete, and suddenly a stroke took him out. As someone near his age, I would vote for the other guy as an act of common sense. Hatch is like a care with 250,000 miles on it.

Any Tea Party person who knows his stuff knows it will take awhile to work up the political ladder. Romney had a huge head start on the nomination. But the old men need to be put away; they are a danger to the country, as Henry Ford was to his company in his old age.

We believe, based on the scriptures, that one substance interpretation dilutes and changes the nature of our Father and His Son and makes them and their purposes harder to understand...but that is ou interpretation.

Sounds logical; but the foundation upon which MORMONism stands is that the 'scriptures' (the KJV of the Bible) was not sufficient (refer to Articles of Faith #8).

Are you talking here about any ADDITIONAL 'scripture' that the LDS church has canonized to base your conclusion? (Refer to D&C's, PGP, various utterings of MORMON past leaders)

If so; please refer to them.

History has proven to us that Joseph Smith was 'directed by GOD' to revise, edit and correct the KJV of the bible; giving us the JST.

Yet, the SLC group of MORMONs do NOT consider it to be 'scripture'.

When we get all of THIS straightened out; perhaps the playing field will be a bit more level.
