Folks, just heard, Hatch in a run off ! Liljenquist and Tea Partiers did it !!!
“The idea that one is automatically a political liberal because they are a Mormon is ridiculous. Dumb as it is, there are a few fanatics that insist this is true...”
I know that personally I don’t want a Mormon PRESIDENT; however, you’re missing the point. Romney is a lying liberal as evidenced by his WORKS in government.
It is not inconsistent to support a Mormon ousting another Mormon as a UTAH senator. Whomever, Utah nominates - it is an axiom that it will be a Mormon given that it is a Mormon STATE.
THAT IS NOT THE SAME AS NOMINATING A MORMON PRESIDENT.
This is simple logic. It is not difficult for any thinking person to see the difference between the two situations.
Orrin shoul take his lavish government pension, and royalties from his music and ride off into the sunset. Its time for a new generation to take his seat.
I don’t understand why these old men that have been there for a million years don’t want to retire. What’s up with that—huge egos? They are all part of the problems we now have in this country. Crossing the aisle too many times to advance the liberal agenda. Do you hear me John McCain? Go away.
Hi, Colofornian. Please don’t add me to this ping list. The only reason I posed the questions to Longbow1969 in post #37 is that up until his post #16 there was not a single mention of Mormons or Mormonism, and this topic had absolutely nothing to do with either. It was he, Longbow, who took the thread completely off-topic by introducing that discussion, and in a way that appeared inflammatory and specifically engineered to derail the entire thread into exactly the direction it has gone. The perfect example of the rhetorical anthill kicking to which I referred in #37.
As for me, I have absolutely no interest in discussions of Mormons or Mormonism. I was actually interested in the original Orrin Hatch vs. Dan Liljenquist topic, so I quit reading the thread when it became something entirely otherwise.
If topic hijacking was Longbow’s intent, he has certainly succeeded. He’d have a very difficult time convincing me that this wasn’t his intention. It was so predictable a child would have seen it coming.

We had a Mormon work for our company a few years ago. He was very young and newly married. He had the best work ethic, was a strong family man and very conservative. Mormons are good people that we want on our side. I don’t have a problem with it. I want someone that knows how to turn the economy around and run a business. I think Romney has those qualifications though I prefer Newt and will vote for Newt in the Texas primary.
Maybe he should have acted like a lady and kept his arrogant thoughts to himself.
He can join the biggest loser whiner-Arlen Spector. Term limits.
Spot on and good analogy. I talk to liberals all the time and they’re just not self-aware. They use subtle code words that have deep meaning to them, but are utter nonsense. You present facts and they start double talking.
Orrin, your chickens have come home to hatch, or something like that.
When the media gets onto the Mormanism angle, the repubs need to fight back with details of BO’s Muslim upbringing and the makeup of the Rev. Wright’s church(Muslims/”former” Muslims and that black theology they taught there. It could be very damaging to BO if someone would actually talk about it this time.
4 am reference bump! ;-)
They did spare us an Al Gore Presidency. What’s the background on Liljenquist? Some posters seem to indicate that he’s not legit. What’s the story?
Just for measuring the media onslaught, watch for the media to expose what the MomronISM high priesthood is, and relating that to the blasphemy of usurping the role of Christ as THE ONLY Melchizedek high priest. When that reaches Catholic minds and Baptist attention Milt will be lucky to get 15% of the Christian vote from the middle. Look for the Constitution Party candidate to get an unusually high vote percentage as indication of where the Christian vote went when the GOPe tried to shove the liberal slug Rominy down our collective throats.
This is idiocy, absolute idiocy.
Some clown wraps himself in the Tea Party mantle, and everyone is glad Hatch has to face him in a primary?
Idiocy
Hatch is a 100% ACU rating holder, along with Rubio, DeMint and a few others, and has a 99% Club For Growth rating. He has been carrying the Conservative water in DC since before many here were born.
Don;t worry about Hatch, he will win a primary in a landslide, thank God. Any so-called Conservative who is against Hatch is simply a self-agrandizing fool or off their Thorazine!
It’s about time we save our dollars and energy for defeating Obama in the Fall.
Hatch is a 100% ACU rating holder, along with Rubio, DeMint and a few others, and has a 99% Club For Growth rating.
There is going to be a lot of pressure on good conservatives like Coburn and Demint to endorse Hatch. If they can’t oppose him, I hope as many as possible can stay neutral. Hatch has been a good guy a majority of the time, but in dozens of cases HE HAS LINED UP WITH THE DEMOCRATS AGAINST US!!
-PJ
haaaaaaa !!!
Go Tea Party !!
Good bye Booby-Hatch!
Like too many alleged “Conservatives”, you never know where this guy would land on any issue.
He MIGHT get it right, but is just as likely to go completely wrong.
If there was anything consistent about him you could work with him, knowing when he would support you
But he’s so random he must flip a coin to decide his stand on an issue.
I’m LDS...and no one has accused me of being a liberal yet. But it is sad to see some of what is going on. Luckily, IMHO, it is a tinly minority of people doing it. There are good and bad in any group with over 14 million members.
From my 42 years as a member and my 56 years on this earth, I can say that amongst the faithful LDS members, the good far outweigh the bad.
As for me personally, I hope my own history of activism and actions will put the lie to any notion like that anytime anyone tries to imply it about my person, so I do not expect it any time soon.

I’m very happy with that, because that means, rather than flapping his gums on TV every chance he gets, he is doing the work and casting the right votes.
Folds on votes?
Get the bird poo out of your hearing aid.
How do you think he got a 100% ACU rating and a 99% for CFG?
Does ANYBODY here do any research, or do they just post whatever some ninny with a keyboard says?
If you have cable TV, there wont be much on to watch.

If there isnt much on to watch, you will answer your door whenever someone rings.
If you open your door, you will see mormons.

If you talk to mormons, they will trick you into praying about whether something is true.

If you rely on your feelings, you may become a mormon.

If you become a mormon, you will have to wear magic underwear!

If you wear magic underwear, people will immediately label you as a cultist.

DONT be a cultist!
Get DirectTV.
I think this belongs in the OTHER thread...

We gots WEASELs???
Hopefully not the SPORK kind!
Our BADGERS are bad enough!!
Speaking of songs:
Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!
Jesus annointed that Prophet and Seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.
Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Praise to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assasins,
Plead unto heav'n while the earth lauds his fame.
Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.
Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know 'Brother Joseph' again.
Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
If them frackin' GENTILES would stay away; we be MORE than 57% MORMON!
--MormonDude(but; they DO make a good mission field - so close to home and all.)
That is a requirement for inclusion into a Quorum of the LDS church, too.
LIBERALS?
MORMONs do EXACTLY the same thing!!
What is 'going on'?
Im LDS...and no one has accused me of being a liberal yet.
Very few of us would 'accuse' you of being a MORMON; either!
Good one.
As to what is going on...we are faced with the most cricuial election in my own life time, and perhpas in this nation's history, where we have an abject marxist willfully and openly destroying the Republic and it seems (barring a miracle from Newt in forcing a brokered convention, which I pray for despite Newt's own failings) where an individual who, as a Republican Governor in Mass took very liberal/progressive positions there in order to be elected and while governing, wherein he would not fight abortion, homsexuality and a Health Care system that in my opion is uncosntitutional.
In fact he kept his promises to the people of Mass when he ran that he would not do those things, though I personnaly feel he did deflect the situation, no matter hom small, by attempting to vetoe many of the worst provisions, which is clear from the record.
Now that same indivifual, Mitt Romney, is about to be nominated as the GOP Presidential candidate after he says he has repudiated those positions and is now running (and has been for the last 6-7 years), as a conservative, pro life, pro traditional marriage (which he himself has had for 30+ yers). It is a sad circumstance.
Although I would like to give Mitt the benefit of a doubt, because I gave Reagan the same when he changed, yet I would much prefer that he had a record of these new stances like Reagan did when he was governor of California. But we don't.
So we are faced with this decision, and despite being for Sarah, then Cain, then Santorum, and now Newt in the primaries, should he go on and get the nomination I have explained what my intent is...but I understand full well how others cannot do that after the history we have witnessed.
As to accusing me of being a "Mormon," as you know, there's no need. If that label is being attached to me because of my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as you know I openly profess that I am a member, that I myself have served in Bishoprics, and that Jesus Christ is my personal Saviour.
Message to RINOs and other wobbly Repubs....
Don’t get comfortable. And if you ARE comfortable...watch your six.
Tea Party folks are breathing down your neck, chumps.
Good news!! Thanks for posting, taildragger.
Any place that a MORMON has the nerve to start spouting any of their HERESY will turn in to a BASH.
Bold
ANTIs
Spotlighting
Heresy
The same can be said about a Lutheran, or a Baptist or even me: well; without the Mormon and LDS appellations.
What you post could be posted by ANY Christian. There is NOTHING to be found in your posts about the heretical teachings of MORMONism.
Sheeeeyit. Isn't 120 years enough? Give somebody else a chance.
Hopefully someone who won't exempt himself or herself from whatever laws he or she pushes on the rest of us.
:: he is doing a poor job at representing them. ::
Elected congress-critters and Senators haven’t “represented” anyone or anything other than their self-interest since JFK was POTUS.
Hatch voted to confirm anti-gun zealot Eric Holder as President Obamas Attorney General.
I’ve taken a down view of Mormonism since observing the tactics of Romney and his people. I have grown to dislike this person greatly and have begun looking at his religion as a cult on par with Scientology.
All that can change if a candidate emerges from a Mormon background that has a track record of conservatism.
Romney is a very poor representative for any group.
This lady may fit the bill. I know Steven Thayne who has been a State Rep and now is running for State Senate here in Idaho is equally conservative.
There are a lot at that level...and the US Congressional reps from Idaho and Utah and Wyoming and such are usually very conservatve.
Although an apointee of Eisenhower, Esra Taft Benson was another very conservative individual as Secretary of Agriculture. He later became President of the Church.
Anyhow here is a Black, Hatian, Mormon who is very conservative who won the GOP Congressional Primary for her district and will now run in November.
Good to hear. Thanks for the link. Indeed she does look good and serious.
2. Hatch supported the Food Safety Act, but ultimately did not vote for it so it won't show up in his rating.
3. Hatch caved to Democrats during Memogate, when Republican Senate aid (and Hatch advisor) Manuel Miranda was found to have been viewing Democrat files on an unsecured shared Intelligene Committee server. Never mind that the memo, written by Democrat Senator Jay Rockefeller, was about secret Democrat plans to corrupt the bipartisan Intelligence Committee process by stringing along Republicans until they are ready to:
"Prepare to launch an independent investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the majority. We can pull the trigger on an independent investigation at any time-- but we can only do so once."
Since there was no vote on this matter, it won't show up in his rating.
4. Hatch was weak during the Clinton impeachment and Senate trial, often publicly offering Clinton a way out.
5. Hatch supported the judicial nominations of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Steven Breyer. Hatch voted for the nomination of Timothy Geithner for Secretary of Treasury and Eric Holder for Justice. Hatch previously voted to confirm Holder for Clinton's Justice department.
PJ
“All these years” is right. This would be the 7th time Hatch has run for Senate. It’s way past time that he has a career change. Senators were never meant to run upteen times. It is the length of time these guys spend in the House and Senate that demoralizes them. They become just like the ones they defeat for office after such lengthly service. Term limits is what is needed.
Romney will come in and back Hatch during the general election.
Ushering thru good judges is huge.
Going back years, Hatch has also gone to bat for those of us all over the country with ‘alternative health beliefs’ that has to fight now and again for our choice of health care.
Not following closely the problem with Hatch here, but the above is what he’s done for many with like minds.
No idea what you are talking about, but CONGRATS! Sounds like a good win for our side!
I blame this crew for foisting Mitt Romney on us, because the one and only consolation in voting for such a moderate-progressive country clubber is sticking it to this bigoted group.
BTW, I've lived in majority Mormon communities in SE Idaho in a previous life and found them to be great neighbors and very conservative. One of their own, Congressman George Hansen of Idaho, went to prison in order to defang the IRS just a little. Think the IRS is bad now? You should have experiencd it 30 odd years ago before Congressman Hansen held hearings.
