A piñata shaped like a white woman was strung up to a tree at the University of Memphis, then African-American students took turns beating it with a stick.
Where is Al Sharpton when you need him? Isnt this a shocking case of racism?
No, actually it isnt. Turns out the students involved were mere grade school kids, brought on campus for a special Luau party sponsored by the university. The piñata was supposed to represent a hula dancer.
We want to assure our community that no racial or gender animosity was intended, said a university spokesperson.
At worst, this seems like a bad case of multicultural confusion. (Hawaiian luau + Mexican-style piñata = what cultural tradition exactly?)
Luckily, in this case, the racial dynamics were not reversed, with white students and a black piñata strung up to a tree. Imagine the controversy that would have generated.
Nevertheless, the university was compelled to explain itself when the picture started generating backlash after it was posted online.
Its a sad thing when a few kids cant swing at a piñata without unleashing an avalanche of racial grievances. But thats the reality we live in.
The kids are’nt the one who organized the event or set the agenda for fun and games or who bought the pinata, it was most likely an adult and either an employee of UM or the school the children attend and I would bet a dollar to a donut they knew exactly what they were doing.(My wife just got back from the donut store and that would be ten dollars to a donut, as a kid I bought donuts 3 for a dime.)
“The piñata was supposed to represent a hula dancer.”
It wasn’t a white women being clubbed with a a stick. Its ok because it was only polynesian women being clubbed with a stick (..????)
Good one, I think. (I didn’t know pinatas were in the same joke.)
Remember the outrage of that cake in the form of a screaming black person a few days ago?
Just imagine—if the headline read White Students beat pinata shaped like a Black Woman? What would be the result in the media? Imagine the endless shows on MSM—The Talking heads—the marches—etc... I am starting to think where in the rage? Maybe the KKK needs to return to the public forum for balance.
Training.
Now that you mention it, didn’t Pepsi have a Superbowl ad featuring black woman assaulting a blond white woman with a Pepsi can?
I guess it’s OK to have a pinata of a dark skinned hula dancer and nobody would ever think racism or effigy???????

It's hard to find good hula dancers.
Isn’t this a “hate crime”?
I guess not if the victim is white....
She was White Pacific-Islander?! I always thoughts Hawaiins were a bit darker.
It occurs to me that we should avoid getting sucked into the vacuum of political correctness.
Shouldn’t we hold our enemy (by their declaration) to their own standards?
We should react EXACTLY the same way Sharpton/Jackson/etc... would react if it had been white kids and a black pinata.
A tip for the ignorant racist savages:
The real thing hits (or preferably shoots), back.
Okay, so now it is pretty well established that blacks hate Jews, whites, and Hispanics. So they are now trying to branch out their racism against Asians and Pacific Islanders.
Gee, I figure once they decide to racially hate Native Americans, who is left?
All I’m saying is that there are activists stirring up trouble, and we can choose whether to stay all mixed up in it, or recognize the trap for what it is, and get out and take a look at what’s going on.
And yes, the trap of self-deception closes its teeth upon the flesh of these activists—who go limping through their narcissistic fantasy of social justice—as tightly as it has gripped the bones of George Soros since his teenage years or before, and is that which killed Saul Alinsky before he ever knew his self inflicted error; the question is not can I figure out how to get this thing off my leg but will I ever see that while brain moves flesh only the heart’s ignition can set the turning of the cogwheels of the mind.
Race relations in Memphis have come a loooog way since we moved here in 1971. Blacks did not go to white churches and even the obits were not in the paper.
Diversity racists: Whitey, do as we say not as we do!
They get along fine while blacks are indoctrinated in “African American studies” which is like indoctrinating whites to understand why blacks are the enemy race because of all the murders and rapes committed against whites by their enemy, “the black race”? If they get along, it is purely surface. When the whistle blowers step up like in the Trayvon case, the carefully indoctrined black racist is unleashed.
Just the fact that they are beating a pinata meant to symbolize a human being of any race is in itself, disturbing.
Great way to raise those kids!
Talked w/ a black friend of mine about Obama last night. At best, she seems disappointed in him, and in Michelle, especially. She felt the issue of childhood obesity was very wimpy on the part of Michelle — who could have used her position to do so much more good than she has.
I didn’t argue with her over any of her points.
I have seen discrimination against whites at first hand, several times, and seen it against others much more frequently than I can forget. I lost two jobs to it, for sure, and there may have been as many as seven lost for me because of it.
And I’m mad as hell about it, even all these years later.
Yours is the kind of post that gets the right conversation going.
My mother taught me to go to a restaurant/cafe/etc with a guy and just watch him as he orders, talks to the waitress, and how much he tips her.
If he treated her with respect all the way through, then that was most likely how he was going to treat me, in the long run.
Very few men passed that test. I am often still apalled.
Somehow, that pic seems fitting for how I imagine how she REALLY is. GAK!
You used an awful lot of words to say “let’s do nothing.”
That doesn’t sound like “reason.”
To me, the reasonable thing would be to disarm your enemy. Incidently, I’m speaking from over two decades of military experience.
Also, their other favorite excuses are that it’s
1. a joke
2. we are too stupid to understand their satire
Animal Rights activists protested the tradational donkey?
I’m surprised they weren’t firing hand guns.
The bright side of this is that just a few years ago we NEVER would have heard about this.
your Mother was a very wise woman indeed...
Thanks! She was, indeed. But she was also funny and didn’t realize it. She was the First to coin the phrases, “It’s always darkest just before it goes totally black!” and “If it isn’t one dam* thing, it’s TWO dam* things!”
She has been gone over 30 years, but I really miss her! ;o]
Makes me feel better already.
LOL
“So what you’re saying is because you believe he’s bought the media’s spin on the whole trayvon fiasco Manning’s opinions about blacks provoking whites to riot are wrong?”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Not really, I was just so disappointed that he would buy the media line on this so easily that I tuned him out. Maybe I will read what he has to say later but it seemed as though he had betrayed everything I thought he stood for.
I agree that he has been mostly dead on in the past but finding him jumping on the bandwagon against Zimmerman was as though I had read Thomas Sowell’s column and found him in support of Obamacare. I remember talking to one young man once who told me about coming home to find his wife in bed WITH ANOTHER WOMAN. I imagine he probably felt about the same way I did at seeing Manning calling Zimmerman a murderer.
Oh, he would be there if the white kids hung a noose from a tree.
She felt the issue of childhood obesity was very wimpy on the part of Michelle who could have used her position to do so much more good than she has.
But I can see how your friend may have hoped Michelle would be loving and wise to see through what is happening. I think honorable people who went along with Obama and Michelle did not realize they were Nation of Islam type people nor do they understand what that means in terms of a dark, racist anti-American mentality. What a combination of social and political ideologies - communism and black racism! That is a promise to make everything worse.
I’m about to the point where I think white people should start a few race riots when things like this happen. I’m starting to feel like the kid who’s always getting beat up by bullies because he never fights back.
Hoo-RAH!
Did anyone tell the kids it looks like Obama’s mother?
If I had a daughter who went to University of Memphis, she’d look a lot like that pinata............
Unless the pinata had a very wide bottom, Id say the black males wouldnt hit it.
Two decades of military experience would teach you first how to identify your enemy.
Skin color was created by God.
Al Sharpton is not merely a liar—he’s a professional liar. Jesse Jackson is the same thing.
Al Sharpton doesn’t define the battle. If Sharpton and Jackson are trying to say the fight is between blacks and whites, you can bet your bottom dollar that the fight is really something vastly different.
i can see why
LOL
You got me. I was thinking “twinkle” and you were thinking “tinkle”.
Come to Texas, MF.
Actually, thats a good photo. Will help when CWII starts.
Those are similar kinds we use some times at our family parties. Don’t have to be Hispanic to enjoy pinatas.
Some great ones can be found in Mexican markets.
At good prices.
Our younger granddaughters would be somewhat upset at whacking ‘Dora’ or ‘Hello Kitty’ to death - - - actually, watching their older cousins eventually do the ‘dirty deed.’
You are so right. Go to any pinata store.... there aren’t many little white girls or boys. They’re mostly festive designs or animals. Or a clown.
When I was a kid, the pinata we whacked was a donkey, as I recall.
