Trayvon had deadly weapons, those skillets can cause a lot of damage to another person.

You mean the skittles in little Tray-Tray's street-boxing videos? ;-)

He was suspended for the assault on the bus driver.

First time I heard this.

No wonder they've kept it under wraps.

That’s what I dont get.. why is the idea of a fellow black male behaving violently so inconceivable to them?

It could be that he’s a liar?

I can understand not wanting to admit to strangers that your brother was a tad wild in respect for the dead, but lying to say he would never be violent in order to make the other guy look guilty, is another thing. He should not be on tee vee.

He was suspended for the assault on the bus driver.

Can you source that?

He was suspended for vandalism twice and once for having the 'empty' marijuana baggie and the marijuana pipe.

One of the vandalism suspensions involved the school officials looking in his backpack for the object(s) he used to write "WTF" on a locker or lockers, and they found the women's jewelry and the flathead screwdriver. Martin claimed the jewelry (thirteen or fourteen women's rings and earrings, and a watch) weren't his and belonged to a friend, but it's reported he wouldn't name the friend.

As far a I can tell from research, there's been no reported record of him being suspended for assaulting a bus driver, as far as I've been able to determine.

If you have a link to a source discussing that suspension, then please share it with us.

I'm not a Martin apologist. I just try and source things. Here, the story about the bus driver appears to have been generated solely from the single February 21 tweet.

First time I heard this.

First time I've heard it, too.

On February 21, somebody (according to the Twitter records posted, and allegedly Martin's cousin) sent him a tweet that said "Yu ain't tell me you swung on a bus driver."

To my knowledge, that's the only thing that's ever appeared about the bus driver and everything else is speculation and rumor. As far as I can source Martin's three suspensions, they were for the marijuana baggie and pipe, and two for vandalism (and one of those vandalism suspensions involved finding the jewelry and screwdriver while looking in his backpack for the tool used in the vandalism).

There may be substance to the charge that Martin assaulted a bus driver. There may be substance to the charge that he was suspended for it. I'd like to know. However, nobody seems to be able to point to anything except the tweet and "well, you know, I heard . . . "

It was one of his 3 suspensions. They worded it down to being in an unauthorized area, aka the front of the bus. IIRC.

What did you expect Martin to do after being “dissed” - just walk away without giving Zimmerman a beat down?

How absurd.

They worded it down to being in an unauthorized area, aka the front of the bus.

No. The 'unauthorized area' term came from a comment about the suspension that Martin was serving for the marijuana baggie/pipe at the time of the shooting. Google it. You'll find countless references to the following quote:

Still, Trayvon had nonviolent behavioral issues in school, and on the day he was killed, he had been suspended for 10 days from Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School in North Miami-Dade. “He was not suspended for something dealing with violence or anything like that. It wasn’t a crime he committed, but he was in an unauthorized area [on school property],” Martin said, declining to offer more details. Before that, Trayvon attended Miami Carol City High School near his mother’s home in Miami Gardens.

Obviously, this explanation was not correct and it appears to have come from one of Martin's parents, but it's where the phrase 'unauthorized area' came from with respect to Martin's suspensions. And it was printed everywhere. Even in the wagslist article Was Trayvon Martin a Drug Dealer?

So, again, no.

I've searched, and I keep coming down to this: The bus driver incident was mentioned in a February 21 tweet as something of a question to Martin. As far as I can tell, there's nothing else on whether Martin swung at a bus driver other than the tweet.

My guess is that people speculated on the tweet, then others read the speculation and thought they were reading facts. Then they embellished, and their embellishments were taken as facts.

I'm still looking for a source other than the February 21 tweet, but that tweet seems to be the extent of anything about the bus driver. I'm not saying he didn't do it; I'm just saying everything seems to be speculation based on that one tweet.

What it boils down to is we pretty well know what two of the suspensions were for: (a) the vandalism suspension, when a search for the vandalism tool also turned up the rings and earrings (and one watch) and flat-head screwdriver, and (b) the suspension for having an 'empty' marijuana baggie and a marijuana pipe.

it's reported that the other suspension was also for vandalism. Then again, the marijuana paraphernalia suspension was reported as 'being in an unauthorized area' by one of Martin's parents.

IMO, the only thing concrete that exists about a bus driver - and trust me, I've looked - is the February 21 tweet to Martin that says "Yu ain't tell me you swung on a bus driver."

Martin was killed on February 26. It's technically possible that the suspension included a bus driver incident and we simply haven't been told. The timing of the tweet is possible, but there's nothing other than the tweet that I can find. We know the story about him being suspended the day he was killed (see the quote in my post above) was a lie; Martin was killed on a Sunday, and there's no school on Sundays.

It's possible he ran then his girlfriend made fun of him. He had to show he was a man so he called his girl back and rolled up on Zim. He did not count on catching a slug.
