Gingrich still fighting
Wilson Times - North Carolina ^ | April 15, 2012 | Janet Conner-Knox

Posted on 04/15/2012 8:51:14 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich came to Wilson on Saturday to ask Wilson Republican voters for their support and to let them know although he is the underdog he isn’t giving up his fight for the presidency.

“I want you to know that I am the last conservative standing in this race, and that I intend to be the last conservative campaigning in this race,” Gingrich said.

The Wilson County Republican Party held a kick off for the election Saturday afternoon at the Wilson County Fairgrounds.

Other candidates also stood before the crowd of about 400 people and talked about why they are the best person for the job in which they are running.

Many of the candidates present said Gingrich was good for helping to build the Republican Party in Wilson and in North Carolina.

Rick Santorum recently dropped out of the Republican race and Mitt Romney is considered the all-but-certain nominee. But Gingrich is still fighting. He tore through North Carolina on Saturday, also making stops in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh.

The primary election is May 8.

Gingrich talked about getting gas prices lowered, putting more money in the economy and not being beholden to the Middle East for oil.

GRADING THE PRESIDENT

Gingrich took the time to aim criticism at President Barack Obama and said he was troubled by the president’s understanding of America.

“National security really matters and that is why as your president, and as commander in chief, I would never apologize to a foreign radical while they were killing young Americans,” Gingrich said to applause and cheers.

Gingrich said he disagrees with Obama’s decision to apologize when Qurans were burned at a U.S. military base.

The burning of the Qurans sparked protests in Afghanistan and caused U.S. Muslims to question the actions of those involved.

“I thought it was profoundly wrong for Barack Obama to apologize to radical Islamic extremists while he was waging war on the Catholic Church and other right-to-life groups, and it made me troubled by this White House and its total lack of understanding of what America is all about,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich told the group the Qurans that were burned had already been defaced.

“As you will remember, the Qurans that were burned in that famous incident were actually Qurans that had already been defaced and mutilated by political prisoners who were using them to send out messages,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich said that the president should have called on Afghanistan religious leaders to condemn extremists who defaced the Qurans.

“Let me make a point, this administration has adopted as one of its slogans to that incident, ‘we will hold sacred that which others hold sacred,’” Gingrich said. “Now, I’m prepared to accept that. And I ask the president, does that mean we can put crosses back up? Does Obama pledge to honor that which is sacred to only radical Islamists? Or is he willing to apply it to Christians and Jews in the United States?”

Gingrich then said the president needs to withdraw all the anti-religious orders that are involved in Obamacare and respect the right of religious liberty in the U.S.

RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

Gingrich told the group he had just been the guest speaker at a National Rifle Association event and gave them a challenge.

“I said it wasn’t enough just to defend the Second Amendment,” Gingrich recalled. “There’s a worldwide effort under way to pass a small arms treaty that would ultimately be used to take away our right to bear arms. It’s not enough just to oppose that treaty. The Gingrich administration would propose what Chris Cox of the NRA called the Gingrich treaty.”

Gingrich said that the “Gingrich Treaty” would say that the right to bear arms is a human right that belongs to every person everywhere on the planet.

Gingrich said when the Declaration of Independence states “they,” and it talks about all men being created equal and endowed by their creator to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, “they” doesn’t mean just Americans, but all people on earth.

“It doesn’t mean we have to go out and enforce it,” Gingrich said. “But we have to at least advocate it.”

He said the Founding Fathers were in favor of the right to bear arms for a practical reason.

“They weren’t college professors of some tenured Ivy League university living in a fantasy land,” Gingrich said. “The English knew how to deal with rebellion. But they had never faced Americans who were armed and organized in a militia.”

Gingrich said the Founding Fathers believed having the right to bear arms was a natural right.

“None of the other rights are enforceable, if you are disarmed,” Gingrich said. “This is not about hunting. This is not about skeet shooting. This is a political right at the center of defending your liberty from tyranny.”

Gingrich said if you consider the predatory gangs in the heart of Africa, those gangs would behave different if every village they entered had the right to bear arms.

“I’m arguing that we should communicate to the world that American values are universal,” Gingrich said. “We are not subordinate to the United Nations. We are not going to bow to some foreign ideology. We are not going to have federal judges who believe the Constitution is obsolete. And we’re not going to have secretaries of defense who say that we don’t need the rule of Congress as long as some foreign government or some foreign agency say its OK.”

Gingrich said that Leon Panetta is secretary of defense for the U.S. and not the United Nations.

“If that’s not good enough for him, he should resign,” Gingrich said.

THE INTERVIEW

In an interview with The Wilson Times, Gingrich said he represents two things that would help Wilson if elected.

“First, I’ve helped create jobs twice, 11 million new jobs with Clinton, 16 million new jobs with Reagan and so I have a job creation program that would be directly helpful,” Gingrich said. “Second, I believe that what I’m doing in energy will bring the price of gasoline down to under $2.50. (That) is important for folks in communities like this who have to drive a fair distance to work. Having less expensive gasoline really matters.”

High energy prices also drives up the price at the grocery store.

He said what he would do with jobs and gasoline would put more money in the pockets of Wilson residents.

Gingrich said he is in favor of hydraulic fracturing or fracking.

Hydraulic fracturing is the process of extracting natural gas from shale rock layers deep within the earth. Some states have residents who say during the process of fracking their well water leads to polution, Others believes it’s an untapped source of energy and economic growth.

“Obviously we would have to study fracking to make sure that it is not a serious problem,” Gingrich said. “We have to be concerned about fracking. But I think we ought to do it from a scientific basis.”

Gingrich said low-cost health insurance must be found that allows people to purchase policies.

“We can do it, probably by letting them to buy in as a group, rather than by small business or by individual,” he said. “In addition, we have to find new ways to allow doctors to provide very low services – possibly by giving them tax breaks if they are willing to take care of people on a charitable basis.”

Gingrich said his message has a positive answer on jobs and a whole range of issues that offer new voters a chance for a better future.

Thanks for supporting Newt. He is the only one who is fearless against the media and even Fox when they are so wrong headed. I know his family and they love America and are showing it with dedication and devotion with action. Nobody can outwork Newt. At 68 he perseveres tirelessly and is more worried about America’s Legacy than his own. He has fought against the liberals his entire life and tried to preserve our culture and the vision of our Founding Fathers. Romney can’t come up with big solutions. He is an elitist at heart and can’t win on ideas. He has to throw money and mud at his opposition. He uses the same tactics as Obama and Newt will force Obama to come out of hiding and actually debate without a teleprompter. Newt =$2.50/gallon. What a stimulus that would be!!! America wake up. Moderates only dig deeper holes. Newt is a true American Hero and forges on because he loves this country.

.

Newt Gingrich will have his political "Battle of Midway" victory at the GOP Convention in Tampa ...

Sarah Palin will "officially" endorse Newt Gingrich (exactly) one calander week immediately before the Covention ...

The resulting political firestorm will create a deadlocked "first vote" (denying Willard the easy win) ...

Then ... on the second vote ... a Historic Moment ... Newt will announce that Sarah Palin will be his VP Choice, Santorum his Attorney General, Allan West his Secretary of Defense, Richard Bolton his U.N. Diplomat, and Rick Perry his Energy Secretary ...

Newt wins the GOP Nomination on that second vote ...

and then the White House in November 2012 ...

"Scratch One Flat Top" ...

Hmm, I don’t know about that math. While it’s true, Romney needs about 60% of the remaining delegates to win- actually its 57.6%, we Gingirch folks follow the number religiously- total votes cast so far is a moot point. He needs 493 more delegates. With Santorum out, you cant assume Gingrich is going to get them all...I think we all hope so- I know I do- but it’s not a correct assumption.

The resulting political firestorm will create a deadlocked "first vote"

First votes are only deadlocked if someone doesn't meet the threshold of delegates. The first vote is just a count of pledged delegates and no endorsements at the convention can change that nor would it create a 'firestorm'.

Remember, brokering is done with the delegates and the party establishment. Outsiders with fans won't have a vote or a voice in brokering.

Clear as glass, if the Mitt forces can get Newt to drop out, its unobstructed though convention even if he’s short of the 1144.

Would be nice if Newt and Palin could announce some combo, whether Newt/Sarah or Sarah/Newt. Because she isn’t on any Primary ballots, Newt will need to stay in the game and I do beleive he will.

Late one night, I did a quick search for where to donate and that site came up. I donated and went to bed.

The next morning I read the confirmation email and it didn't say anything about Newt or what I had donated to and I thought I'd been scammed. The newt360 PAC appears to be on the same side and working for the same goals, but I my intent was to donate to Newt himself.

Today, I got it right and my donation went to Newt Gingrich.org. He's the man with the message that needs to be heard! Go Newt!!

Palin does not need to be on a primary ballot in order to talk to uncommitted delegates in Tampa. If she can garner the support of “X” number of delegates she will have by-passed the primaries and ten months of baseless attacks.

Palin did say something about “unconventional”

It is sickening what has been done to minimize Newt after all he has done for America. No one can match his productivity and his success for conservatism and yet we Republicans fumble along and grab on to a guy like Romney to carry our banner. Newt isn’t a war hero like McCain and Dole, but he certainly has shown his courage and love of America. He is the son of a career soldier and a patriot. With nothing other than his God-Given talents he has persevered against a torrent of adversity from the left. We elect guys like Clinton and Obama. America should be ashamed.

Got a new image for you to use if you'd like. I made it this morning with the wife. It's a little more Patriotic American style and I think presents a better image of Newt as an American President. Let me know what you think, and if you like it feel free to use it liberally (pun intended).
