Tea party leader warns Romney: Don’t expect us to campaign for you (Iced Tea)
Daily Caller ^ | 4-13-12 | Alex Pappas

The leader of the Tea Party Nation organization has a blunt message for likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney: Tea partiers will likely vote for you, but don’t expect them to get energized and campaign for you.

“The tea party is not going to coalesce around Romney,” Judson Phillips told The Daily Caller on Thursday. “Most of us will vote for Romney, but we will not be out there with signs for him or in his campaign.”

Phillips said that surveys conducted on the Tea Party Nation website have shown that about 25 percent of tea party activists say they won’t vote for Romney in the general election.

-snip- Another conservative leader, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, struck a similar note after former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum dropped out of the presidential race this week.

“It’s difficult for us to back a candidate our constituents don’t believe in and aren’t excited about,” Perkins told CNN

The republican party had better listen up and define a Tea Partier, of which I consider myself one.

I do not join organizations or groups. I have my own set of political priorities, most of which, if not all, are derived from the constitution.

I use to be proud to call myself a Republican. However, today the republican party is nothing but a bunch of back stabbing leftist leaches, and me first types. The democratic party is even worse.

I won't vote for Romney. I will continue to encourage conservatives to vote conservative, and not cave to the GOP-e.

I'm a conservative. Not a Republican.

Take your “lesser of two evils”, “hold-your-nose-and-vote” mentality someplace where people are dumb enough to buy into scare tactics.

For all purposes the Primaries are over. This is who will be running and you now have a choice;

20 out of 50 states with over 1,000 delegates (45% of the total) haven't voted yet and you think the primaries are over? You seem very interested in suppressing people's right to exercise free speech and their freedom to vote. You just love Romney the Masshole that much, do you? I didn't realize elections were over when only 55% of the vote was in. The bottom line is it's still in the hands of the voters. If they decide to vote against Romney, he will be denied the automatic nomination and we can reload for the convention. Like Sarah Palin said last night, don't retreat, reload.

“The Tea Party should now concentrate on getting the most Conservative candidates elected to the House and Senate so they can pull Mitt to the right”

That’s not going to happen any more than Boehner and McConnell got pulled to the right in the aftermath of 2010.

I do, however, agree that this is where conservatives need to focus. I’ll be paying particular attention to competitive Senate races where a conservative is running. If we can flip the Senate, we can at least gain the ability to send legislation to whichever socialist ends up in the White House.

A gridlocked Obama for 4 more years will probably implement a lot less liberal policy than an empowered Romney for 4-8 years.

A reelected Obama will not be "gridlocked"; if he wins another term, he will almost certainly have a Democrat Senate, and the GOP will have a smaller majority in the House. That is what is so dangerous in assuming the choice betweeen Obama and Romney wouldn't matter, because Romney would have a significantly more conservative Congress to deal with.

My point is that the dynamics of the campaign will dictate down-ballot elections, and if the electorate favors Obama, they will give Harry Reid the majority again. If you thought things were bad since 2008, just imagine what's in store in a second Obama term.

The teaparty DID make itself loud and clear in the early stages of the primaries. And each time a teaparty associated candidate surged toward the top, the GOP-e and their lackey, FOXNEWS (can't be trusted) made sure that candidate was shot down and everybody was told Romney was the one, the INEVITABLE!

Now the GOP-e and FOXNEWS (can't be trusted) have to eat their own work. We can either vote for four more years..no, that is totally not acceptable. Or we can vote for four years of a liberal in conservatives clothing who has been jammed down the throats of the public and run over top of any other candidate who dared to speak against him. And that is not acceptable either. Or we can vote for a real conservative, without regard to the Alinsky tactics being used by BOTH major political parties.

What the GOP-e and FOXNEWS (can't be trusted) have done is prove that they care more about their own agenda and maintaining the status quo than what is good for the people of America. That is also a form of hating the USA.

So you’re suggesting that the Tea Party people should just shut up and fall in line like good little serfs. Is that today’s GOP-e talking point? I don’t get their memos.

Its not scare tactics, its reality, provided mitt is the nominee and it sure looks like he will. You want to not vote for him, fine, that is essentially a vote for Obama
and his commie admin. If you are ok with that, so be it.

You condeman scare tactics, and then you ping the admin to try and scare me from posting my opinion. How Orwellian of you.

Thank you. We are letting the GOPe "deem" the race over, that's exactly what's happening. They say it's over so it's over?

I don't think so. What's the latest PA polls? I can't believe Sketch would get Rick's votes so is Rick still in the position to force a bc?

The tea party “leaders” have gotten the message that people are not in lock step with Romney.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Then why in the hell did 1/3 of the Tea Partiers vote for RINO-Rom in every friggin’ Primary? I watched closely. 1/3 of the Tea Partiers supported him. And, why the hell didn’t the Tea Party take the lead and coalesce around ONE Conservative so we would not keep dividing up the vote and giving RINO-Rom “plurality” victories? So, the bottom line is:

ALL TEA PARTIERS ARE NOT CONSERVATIVE!!!

BULLSH** ! I remember friends of mine telling me in 2008: “Obama doesn’t have a chance”. I said to them: “BULLSH**”. Now, I see that 4 years later, in 2012, ignorance is still rampant.

Its not just Obama we need to fire, its his whole admin, especially eric holder. The Romney admin will likely be liberal, but not the virulent communists and racists littering the obama admin.

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! And, we need to hold the House and re-take the Senate. If people sit home, the glory days of this great nation are over. My great grandchildren will probably be speaking Mandarin Chinese.

It is NOT “essentially” a vote for Obama. If I vote third party, it is ONLY a vote for the person I pull the lever for. It does not take votes from anyone or give votes to anyone except that person, and it’s flat-out wrong to say otherwise. And I pinged the admin because support of Romney, whether blatant or the “soft” support that you espouse, is a no-no on FR according to Jim. Consider yourself advised.

Yep, that one positively reeked of irony. Let’s give four more years to the Communist...THAT will show ‘em who’s boss!
