Would a Romney-Gingrich ticket be acceptable to Jim Robinson & other conservative Freepers? [NO!! ]
[Not only no, but HELL NO!! NEVER AGAIN!! - Jim] | April 9, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

Posted on 04/09/2012 8:06:05 AM PDT by mitchell001

Since Newt Gingrich is talking teamwork and cooperation with Romney & Santorum to defeat Obama, would Jim Robinson and conservative Free Republic people join me in accepting and pushing a Romney-Gingrich ticket. Frankly, I bristle at the mention of Romney-Nicki Halley or other RINO tickets. Personally, Romney would be very smart to put conservatives at the table of his campaign and administration team. Newt is so passionate about Big Ideas, reform and he knows how to push the levers of Congress. Mitt Romney can be a good president, however, with Newt on his team, Mitt Romney could be a great president. We need Gingrich's brains and political skill on the ticket and in the administration.

No ticket with Romney anywhere on it should be acceptable to any true conservative. Romney is a Liberal, Socialist, pro-socialized medicine, pro-abortion, anti-relgious freedom, pro-illegal, pro-homosexual agenda, Big Government, gun grabbing, liar. That is how he governed in Massachussetts and how her campaigned for governor and senator.

I’d rather deal with a wolf in wolf’s clothing, than a wolf in a very, poor quality sheep costume.

There is pretty much not a Republican ticket that I would not support against Obama at this point. Obama is destroying this country.

If a right-leaning moderate (e.g. Pawlenty) won the nomination, that would work for me.

Romney has been undermining both the party and conservatives since McCains run, largely using proxies.

If we tolerate that, and even forget all about it, we will get more of the same.

If Obama wins, many believe that the country will be too far gone to save by 2017.

If Romney wins, many of us believe taht we will only get to choose between differnt flavors of the same poison forever.

At some point, you have to show you are not bluffing.

I am afraid this is that point, at least for me.

No Romney.

Put Gingrich in a cabinet-level position.

I remind all of you of Bismark's dictum that "Politics is the art of the possible."

And lest any of you take offense at quoting the architect of the first welfare state, let me point to a similar sentiment expressed by one of the forefathers of modern conservatism, John Dalberg, the First Baron Acton:

At all times sincere friends of freedom have been rare, and its triumphs have been due to minorities, that have prevailed by associating themselves with auxiliaries whose objects differed from their own; . . .

of course Lord Acton goes on to warn us

. . . and this association, which is always dangerous, has been sometimes disastrous, by giving to opponents just grounds of opposition.

Even if John the Baptist is his running mate, Romney is still a liberal abortion-lover, homosexual-panderer, Planned Parenthood fundraiser, Bible-denying cult member.

Now that there is funny, ma’am.

Gingrich on the ticket would just reinforce the worst tendencies of each. There seems to be amnesia about Newt’s “statist deviations” on such matters as AGW, amnesty, and other matters. There is nothing acceptable about Romney other than his hair.

Romney has done nothing but ignore or insult conservatives. He’s repeatedly telegraphed his intent to lose his “severe conservatism” after winning the nomination.

He’s going to settle somewhere between Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama.

If you're asking if we'd prefer to lost to obama because romney tricked Newt into jumping onto the ticket, the answer is still NO!

Romney as the GOP candidate is like boarding the Titanic after they hit the iceberg.

Romney will be destroyed by hundreds of sound bytes released by democrat media dogs. They will bring his candidacy down with the truth about romney, and there will be no way we can stop them.

It doesn't matter what we do. Romney will be showed to be such a terrible choice his campaign will result in an electoral route the likes of which we have never seen.

He can't even unite his own base. They already know him.

He can't unite minorities. Anyone who does 10 minutes of honest research will learn why. DO IT NOW...

Romney means the end of the GOP forever.

>>>I would not go for that unless it was known Romney had a terminal illness!<<<

I’d be in under those conditions as well, provided he had less than 75 days to live.

I was almost going to post what if it's Romney-Palin? Of course I doubt he'd choose her and she doesn't seem a fan of his...plus most people would probably say "still no, unless the ticket were reversed in order".

Even if Palin was on the ticket, which she is way too smart to do, the answer is NO!

If it comes down to it I'll write in Ronald W. Reagan - his mouldering corpse could do a better job of running the nation than any of the other candidates.

“Why would Gingrich want to become toady to a liberal?”

Because Newt has a $4.5 million campaign debt that he would like to have Mittens help him pay off? Do I get a prize?

A Romney/Fill In The Blank ticket would be at least slightly better...and perhaps even *noticeably* better than an Osama Obama/Christ Almighty Himself ticket. Not that Osama would ever agree to run with such a racist/bigogt/homophobe.

To be fair, though, it IS pretty hard to find a real reason to support Willard Romney the open socialist. Party-line Republicans keep up the drumbeat because they’re afraid to step outside their bubble and consider fighting for actual change.

Telling people to vote for Romney because of his VP is like trying to get someone to buy a totaled car because you put a new air freshener in it.

I have never said I won’t vote for Romney. But count me undecided. I am going to listen to him during the campaign. If he convinces me he will work within the principles I hold dear then he will get my vote. If not he won’t.
