(CBS/AP) SANFORD, Fla. - Prior to a march and rally to be held marking one month since a Florida teenager was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer, the parents of Trayvon Martin defended their son and decried reports that offered contrary accounts of the confrontation.
Speaking after a community forum held at a Baptist church in Eatonville, the parents were emotional in the wake of a news report published in the Orlando Sentinel that said George Zimmerman had been attacked by the 17-year-old, and an Associated Press report that Trayvon had been suspended from school because of an empty plastic baggie found in his book bag which tested positive for traces of marijuana.
"Even in death, they are still disrespecting my son," said Tracy Martin, "and I feel that is a shame."
"They've killed my son, and now they're trying to kill his reputation," said Trayvon's mother, Sybrina Fulton.

Lady, I am sorry for your son and your family.
But if the evidence shows that he attacked Zimmerman and was on top of him beating his head against the concrete and beating him with his fists, then he was the agressor and the criminal and he was shot in self defense.
Those are starting to look like the fact...sorry for your grief, but if that is who your son was, then so be it.
Actually, she is right. They ARE ruining his reputation as a hoodlem.
It’s sad and frightening. For example, what Sharpton is doing by hounding Zimmerman is like what Sharpton did with Tawana Brawley. Sharpton also instigated the murderous racist fire bombing of a Korean grocery.
What Sharpton is doing is evil and he is not a person anyone should be listening to.
BTW, after Tawana Brawley, I really resent Fox News for putting Sharpton on as if he’s a nice guy. He’s a very evil person who has ruined lives and even caused lives to be taken for racism.
Ironic in that her son feeling that he was being disrespected (`dissed’) by Zimmerman may have cost him his life.
I’ll say this after reading his tweets calling himself “nigga” and all the dialogue being in gangsta slang, plus the drug issue, it doesn’t fit the claim that this is a sweet little kid who would never start a fight. Plus at 6 foot 2, I think he was more than capable of fighting Zimmerman.
Heard a phone message Zimmerman left for someone, in which Zimmerman sounded very sincere and well spoken.
Just saying. I don’t know if the use of deadly force was justified, but it was not an “attack on blacks”. And I don’t see how Zimmerman can get a fair trial.
Who’s this “ they” she is referring to? Joe Zimmerman killed her son. No one else.
A bit off topic, but “Martin” and “Zimmerman” are two names that are very prominent in the Mennonite branch of my family tree.
No relation, but it gives me a little jolt every time I see an article with their names in the title.

This fellow is named Joe; I can’t remember his last name. He was on with Ann Curry this morning. She was furiously (and I mean furiously!) trying to get him to say something negative about Z. He was having none of it. Very brave man.

I suppose reporting the eyewitness account of the innocent Trayvon beating the holy hell out of George Zimmerman and noting he was on suspension and posting photographs of him and his associates is considered “disrespecting”?
Frankly, I would have never known about Trayvon if the professional race card baiters had not interjected themselves into this situation.

Yep, and the black mayor at the time, Mayor David Dinkins, held back the NYPD for several days which furthered the damage ten-fold. His political career was over at the end of his term. Some say (I think correctly) he was the worst mayor ever to occupy the Gracie Mansion.
No, it was Freddy’s Mart that was destroyed in a fire - not the Korean deli. Freddy’s was in Harlem and if I remember correctly, the Korean deli was in either Queens or Brooklyn. Long time ago!
Also, Sharpton has never, ever been first on the scene. Not only is he an evil man, he is also incompetent at being the originator of racial horrors. He was the last arriving race baiter at the Brooklyn pogram but the most influential. It was the evil and very dead Sonny Carson who instigated the Freddy Mart murders. It was a black-owned business.
