George Zimmerman, who shot a black teenager in Florida, is in hiding after receiving death threats. A full portrait has yet to emerge of the 28-year-old, one of the characters at the center of the drama that has turned questions about race and guns into a national debate.
Since the fateful rainy night of Feb. 26 when Zimmerman, on patrol as a neighborhood watch volunteer, crossed paths in Sanford, Fla., with an unarmed Trayvon Martin, 17, the older man has been the subject of speculation. His friends and family have tried to defend him, have given a few interviews. But it has been the media -– principally, the Orlando Sentinel –- that has to fill in the outlines of the life of Zimmerman, variously described as white or a Latino.
Zimmerman's family has denied that race played a role. “The portrayal of George Zimmerman in the media, as well as the series of events that led to the tragic shooting, are false and extremely misleading,” wrote his father, Robert, a retired magistrate judge, in a letter published in the Orlando Sentinel. “Unfortunately, some individuals and organizations have used this tragedy to further their own causes and agendas.”
“George is a Spanish-speaking minority with many black family members and friends,” the elder Zimmerman said. “He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever.”
Zimmerman, the third of four children, grew up in Manassas, Va. where he lived in the 1980s and 1990s with his white father, Latina mother, siblings and a grandmother. The family was “very Catholic ... very religious,” neighbor Jim Rudzenski told the Washington Post. The children attended All Saints Catholic School through eighth grade before going to Osbourn High School. George was an altar boy and evening receptionist at the church.

Well obviously the shooter is a racist - no wait a minute - he’s a latino - can a latino be a racist - but his father was white - is he really a latino - but Obama’s mother is white - is he really black - is he a racist for pretending to come to the defense of a black who may have been shot in cold blood by a latino who might not be a latino - but at least we know that if Obama had a son, he’d look like the boy who was shot - who we can be pretty sure really was black - thank G*d.......
Knowing the fraud, corruption, conspiracies, scams and schemes this regime has committed.. BP oil rig disaster then massive oil drilling moratoriums, Fast & Furious gun running to sicken Americans of guns, blah blah blah.. Was Zimmerman the shooter? Don’t be so sure. This incident is being played up a way way WAY TOO MUCH and leading up to the election too.. This calls into question the Tuscon shooting and the ‘memorial turned campaign event held in a large stadium’ afterward. Be paranoid? YES, BE PARANOID.
If Zimmerman is deemed to be white, then so is Obama.
Apparently there was only one photo ever taken of him.
Just remember: when palefaces do something that’s racially motivated, they’re cruel oppressors actively committing hate crimes. When anyone else does something that’s racially motivated, they’re exhibiting pride in their heritage.
BTW, today I earned my conservative merit badge: some wacko on Facebook called me a “KKK thug” who “has a problem with people of color” when I asked her if she had a personal stake (i.e. whether she was black) in the Zimmerman case. I tracked down her profile, and turns out she’s white but married to a black guy. Go figure.
What really happened that night? Lots of questions. Looks more like an accident than a crime—Look into the man (28 is a man not a boy) and see is he a KKK member? (I doubt it as he is Latino and Roman Catholic) Does he listen to Rush? Is he a Tea Party Person? Now this death will be used as a political football to elect Obama-—the young man may well be sacrificed to win an election. I guess being an altar boy is what caused him to hate.
Does Zimmerman have a past violence record in Sanford?
Trayvon, this fine, upstanding student,was serving a 5 day suspension from school, when he was shot.
. . . And did Trayvon (whose parents aren't married) have a rap sheet? Hard to tell, if one is a yout, but he sure dressed like a thug, God rest his soul. Something in that bag besides Skittles? Sequester that grand jury, baby. They'll need all the protection they can get.
Seems to me that if Mr. Zimmerman wanted to shoot him for giggles, he just would have shot him right away, no? Why wait to get into a scuffle?
White people have been murdered, robbed, raped, verbally and physically assaulted by black men. Am I to believe all of those crimes were racially motivated? The answer is NO! The kid was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
How many black young men are KILLED “by” black young men in the inner cities of America EVERY day??? Where’s their outrage about those statistics? Is it only riot worthy when it’s another race doing the killing?
IMO, they should not be so angry and quick to throw stones when they are living in glass houses!
