In today’s CBS News poll:

Compared to four years ago, is your family’s financial situation better today, worse today, or about the same?

The survey finds 20 percent say better today, 37 percent say worse today, and 43 percent say “about the same.”

that 63% who are better off or the same, must not shop for gas or groceries

I was absolutely floored yesterday at the supermarket to realize the skyrocketing costs of basics such as milk, eggs and bread. Wowser.

and gas- I don't buy by the tank now, I buy by the gallon, I suppose soon they will start posting the gas price by liter like the euros to make it look cheap to the dummies

How could 63% of any honestly polled group be better off or the same??? I don't get it. More propaganda?

If one could ask the “United States” if it was better off, the “United States” would in one loud statement say “Hell NO, I’m NOT better off... I’m actually a lot worse off!”. And, if one were to then ask the “Constitution” if it was better off, the “Constitution” would just be wincing and writhing in pain unable to.

I am surprised that the “about the same” group is so high. Few of the people I speak to say “about the same”, when the topic is brought up. Most say “worse off”, with a few “about the same”s sprinkled in. No one says they’re better off, not one.

FWIW, I noticed that Eliot Spitzer, on one of those Sunday morning shows, mentioned that “everyone” he talks to is better off. Big surprise.

I wouldn't do this; I don't think you're going to save any money unless you're actually cutting back on your driving. Prices are going to continue going up for a while.

“...Prices are going to continue going up for a while....”

And if that helps insure an Obama defeat in November, I am ready to do my part to support that.

Another 4 years of this clown and I will be in a frick’n soup line. I work in the coal industry and we can’t have another term. The lights will literally go out not only in Georgia!

I have a dozen professionals working for me and the majority are over 57 years old and several 60+. No one in my group has any plans to retire in the next 4 years. Obama has wiped out their (including me) 401k’s. This is true throughout not only my group.

Obama is plugging up the whole system. College grad’s can’t find a job because Mom and Dad can’t retire.

We need to take this entire administration and ship them to Queimada Grande Island. They will feel right at home. A den of viper’s!

I’m sure the CBS survey was compiled with with mostly:

1) Federal government employees
2) those on welfare
3) “Holder’s people”
4) OWS crowd
5) All Knowing Academia

This would skew stats toward a life being more favorable than four years ago because these groups have been specifically showered with ‘goodies’ by the Obama Administration.

God forbid CBS poll actual tax paying citizens or small business owners.

“I am surprised that the “about the same” group is so high”

Probably people that were struggling or just getting by before Obama came to office. I’m self employed and haven’t been able to put anything away for retirement for 3 years. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if my house wouldn’t have dropped $300,000 in value and a few investments didn’t get killed. I feel pretty poor right now, definitely worse off.

Those same 20% would support Zero if the economy totally collapsed and they lost everything single thing they ever owned.

Liberals are stupid that way.

For the first time in my life, I can say that I am worse off after a given presidential term. Furthermore, I can pin my lost standard of living directly on the administration's policies. (I used to work for DoD, which is actually all that I can disclose on this forum: but rest assured that you are also less safe than you were four years ago).

The frustrating thing was how many of my colleages at DoD voted for 0bama-and put pressure on me to vote for him, too. All but one of them have since been cashiered.

Easy answer. 10% are blacks (OMG does that make me a racist?).

10% are those who would vote for Joe Stalin if he were running the country (I teach at a university and I know some of them.)

“for the first time in my life, I can say that I am worse off after a given presidential term.”

My standard of living began declining during the second Bush term and has accelerated it’s downward trend under Obama.

same here...in 2007 i had a strong feeling the country was going to get whacked

right around then i decided to buy a fixer-upper sailboat, cheap, and ended up moving aboard...i enjoy it and its a cheap way to live

when the big economic downturn came i weathered it pretty well...also have an internet biz that kicks in a little

now that it gave me an economic refuge, i’m wondering now how bad the country is going to get...getting the boat ready for a long distance trip jic

Well, probably at least half the 63% are being taken care of by the government and the other half are some form of brain dead.

Propaganda? Do you think? In the United States? By the lamestream media? Naw.

You don’t happen to be in Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia do you? When those states all went for Oblabla I about dropped my teeth since his policies were death to coal mining and STILL they voted for him. Were they nuts?

Sorry you lost your job. Doesn’t sound like a very transferable skill. OTOH, glad your colleages lost theirs. Anybody who voted for the POS oblabla deserves all the misery he gets. The rest of us will just have to continue to suffer. I hope we remember for a long, long, long time though who voted for him and who your friends really are.

And yes, we are far less safe than we were four years ago.

Fortunately for me my skillset is in demand, but not at this time in the defence industry nor in my former home community. I was only out of work for 9 days.

Many of my former colleagues despised GWB. They enjoyed gravy jobs at the top or the world's most powerful and best-equipped military. GWB and the Rebublicans were expected to keep ponying up the bucks to build and polish their cool machine. They wasn't supposed to use it, damn them! Some of these losers voted for Kerry, but a ton of them voted for Zero. I have no pity for them.

These figures are BS. I do not know anyone who is better off. I, and many others I know, am on a fixed income(retired)and altho my income has stayed the same(by some miracle), the prices of food and gas have dealt me and others in my position(retired people)a heavy blow. None of us Blame Bush:), we all know who the he** is to blame, the communist in the WH and his commie minions in the MSM.
