Limbaugh Rejects Company That Suspended Ads From Show Over Fluke Remarks
The Blaze ^ | 03-08-12 | Jonathon M. Seidl

Posted on 03/08/2012 10:14:01 PM PST by Lazlo in PA

Rush Limbaugh has rejected an advertiser’s apparent attempt to reunite with his show after the company initially dropped its ads from the program following his remarks about contraception advocate Sandra Fluke.

The company, Sleep Train, calls itself “the No. 1 Bedding Specialist on the West Coast, and most recognized mattress retailer in the region.”

In an email to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen (obtained by The Blaze), a representative of the show says that Limbaugh personally considered the company’s request, but denied it considering its public comments following the controversy.

“Thank you for your requests last week and this week to restart your voiced endorsement in local markets of The Rush Limbaugh Show,” the email begins. “Rush received your requests personally.”

“Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh’s character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.

“Rush appreciates your long friendship and your past support, and we wish you good luck in the future.”

“I’m sure Ed Schultz will be glad to hear from them. All 15 of His listeners will by something.”

Yeah, I’m sure the one guy with the 14 voices in his head will buy something from them.

Big Lots?

Hey, that's where we do all of our grocery shopping so that we can afford a decent mattress!!

Got you beat. Picked up a like-new mattress leaning against a dumpster in front of a million dollar plus home at Kennebunk Beach. Posturepedic.

Sent an e-mail to sleep train. They don't realize how loyal conservatives can be. My family is amused that after all these years, I still boycott Heinz ketchup, even when it's on sale.

Rip it open and see if there’s cash or cocaine stuffed inside.

Too bad Air American isn't still fleecing the public - their 25 listeners would be up for grabs....

Yes, I noticed this evening for the very first time, a Carbonite ad on FNC's "Special Report."

It may have appeared before but until today, never noticed.

FYI, my daughter ordered flowers for a funeral in another city, from Pro-Flowers. She told me that she'd never, ever use them again as the flowers turned up late to the church, later claiming that they'd "been sent to the home instead."

Of course, they also turned up at the home hours after the funeral......and wilted!

After complaining to the company representative, they told her that they were not "responsible for being at a certain place by a specific time, and the flowers probably wilted due to the excessive hot day (it was summer after all)!"

If you're late with a floral delivery for a funeral, what on earth good are you?????

A bit of history here on Snapple: it was a privately held company when first advertised and used by Rush; it became an overnight success, so much so that Quaker Oats purchased it. After that, either they changed the original formula or something as it wasn't nearly as good as before, so I quit purchasing any.

I also think that they quit advertising on Rush.

AMEN!!! I'm thinking of dropping my AOL email account to show my support for him.

Good luck with that -- they'll probably send a couple enforcers out to the house to lean on your kidneys with a crowbar and see if they can "persuade" you not to quit.

I’m with you on that. I’ll not shed a single tear if they lose even more business for trying to come running back.

Btw, “Done the Campus Flute”? LMBO!!!!

Certainly they did stop advertising on Rush’s show; that is why it was an example. I don’t recall for sure that they quit with prejudice, but I know they did quit. I didn’t recall that Quaker had bought the company, but clearly Rush has gone where Snapple went before with his Two If By Tea initiative. And I doubt that his marketing staff brings that up when talking to prospective advertisers . . .

It would be nice if we’d all call Sleep Train and let them know we’d never think of buying a Sleep Train bed in the future.

Most of us really WON'T buy one now...
