A protest is planned Thursday in front of a Lincoln radio station to call for the removal of talk radio host Rush Limbaugh from the airwaves. The conservative talk show host is losing advertisers and being targeted after calling a law school student a “slut” and “prostitute” for advocating for insurance coverage of contraceptives. “Occupy Rush Limbaugh on International Women’s Day” is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday at KLIN, 4343 O St. The protest is being sponsored by Occupy Lincoln, which has a tent camp on the mall in front of the state capitol in Lincoln. Susan Watson, who is active with Occupy Lincoln, said the general assembly endorsed the protest of what she called Limbaugh’s “horrific” comments a week ago. She thinks KLIN should take him off the air. “He might be cancelled before we even get there,” Watson said in an interview. “It’s truly offensive, what he said. It’s offensive that someone would continue to carry a person who carries hate speech. He’s picked a fight with all women.” KLIN Program Director John Bishop said Limbaugh will stay on the air, however. “He apologized for the comments, which were rude and wrong. My philosophy is that the free market has always made programming decisions. Rush is our best, most consistent performing show since I’ve been here. When the free market says he is no longer desired, then we will look to replace him. Is there a line that can be crossed? Yes. But I don’t believe it was crossed here especially considering others who have done as bad or worse with no consequences. If he had not apologized, it would have made the decision more difficult, but I am a free speech, free market guy and that market will have its say. It always does.”

I agree. The “high water mark”, such as it was, has probably been reached with this mess and is receding rather rapidly. In a month or two more, Fluke will probably be about as well remembered as Stephen Slater or that homeless guy who has the really great radio voice.

Slut is hate speech now? Critical thinking skills are sorely lacking today. All one have to do is turn on a channel on TV and see trash with foul language,cartoon babies using the F word and so on and comedians who are some of the foulest I have heard talk about being offended. Give it a rest already protesters. What about the President of the United States calling half of the population TeaBaggers I believe that is an offensive word where were these protesters when that happened?

Super Tuesday put it in its grave, and furthermore rumblings over Iran/Israel are further back-paging it. I give it a shelf life of about one more week in some quarters, and then it will be long forgotten.
These skanks and sluts and whores and lowlifes have not quite figured that out. But let them have their fun and waste their bucks on filling up their gas tanks for these little-noticed desperate episodes.
Send him an e-mail & thank him for carrying Rush. I’ve done this with a couple of stations, including my local one. Other folks have done the same - the responses have been appreciative and grateful. My local station told me it has been rough - “they are very organized”. We’re in a strong Rush market .... and this station is feeling pressure. Go the radio station’s contact page and you will find e-mail addresses. It can’t hurt .... and it will likely help. The Left has no qualms about screaming like banshees .... while Conservatives tend to stay quietly polite. My personal motto (inspired by Andrew Breitbart): Now is not the time to cower in silence.
Let’s occupy Planned Parenthood ( sic ) until they stop aborting / killing.
