LA Gas Prices Have Their Highs and Lows
KABC TV Los Angeles ^ | Feb 24, 2012 | Jacob Rascon and John Simerson

By If you drive around Los Angeles, you’ll find gas prices all over the map. From the high $3 range to - yes, it’s true - more than $5 in some spots.

And no one is happy about it.

"Very upset," Israel Valenzuela said after buying gas for more than $5 a gallon at a Mobil station in Hacienda Heights. "I’m so angry at the government."

So why did he pay so much?

"Because I was on empty," he said. "It was just on fumes, so I had to stop here."

The worst part about it was that Valenzuela could have paid a dollar less per gallon across the street, but he didn’t notice in time.

From $5 to fewer than $4 a gallon, not all of fuel in L.A. County is equal.

Vons gasoline in La Verne, CA (near Pomona) is selling gasoline for 3.859 a gallon. (3 cents less per gallon if you have Vons Club, even less per gallon if you are a regular shopper there and have gas rewards piled up.) That at cover price is 50 cents less a gallon than anywhere else in town.

They must be pulling some kind of special today.

Don’t know why the Vons station in La Verne is selling gas for 3.859 tonight, but if you want to pass on to the SoCal Freepers, those who can take advantage might want to.

Location,Location,Location.Gas prices vary a lot depending on the state, city, and even the block where you buy your gas.

Many states have higher petroleum taxes than others. Some cities have to import their petroleum from longer distances and therefore have to pay more for transportation. Additionally, there are gas price trends are on the local level and these trends can impact prices

This guy has nobody to blame but himself for not taking note of his fuel situation prior to being on fumes, and then making an emergency purchase at the last second.

Believe me, I check out the prices in the area as I drive around, have for years, and I know where the best prices are.

I just bought gas this morning at the best price in my area, and paid $4.359. I was paying $3.669 (same location) in January.

Just made a cross-country trip.

Paid $4.05 at my favorite convenience store in California.

Paid about $3.75 in Vegas.

Hiway price in Utah was about $3.29.

Hiway price in Wyoming was $2.95.

Denver convenience store price was about $3.10.

Prices similar on the return trip.

The truly amazing thing is that Iran may wind up delivering the death blow to Obama’s campaign when it is all said and done. If they keep up their embargo which will keep oil prices high, the American economy will suffer which will lead to Obama’s defeat. God moves in strange ways...

Wake up people, it’s not just gas.
Obama has been printing money like crazy, EVERYTHING is more expensive.
It is part of his plan to wreck the economy so everyone looks to the gov for a handout.
Destroy private savings, put people out of work. Tax those who still work unmercifully and make all look to Washington for help.
Hope will not fill my tank. Anyone but Obama 2012

I’m glad my husband works from home, and I can often do the same. Most of my coworkers have arranged to work from home at least one day per week to save on gas, but we have a great work environment that not everybody would get.

The Democrat-media Complex (MSM) has started playing up the price of gas. Since they ONLY do things to help democrats and Obama - it gives us a hint about the future.

Here's my guess. Obama and his friends in the ME will drop the price of gasoline in time for Obama to be the hero who brought gasoline prices down. The higher it gets now - the more dramatic the drop will be at the end of summer.

To Mr. Valenzuela's credit, he stated "I’m so angry at the government [about high gas prices]."

Of course, I presuming he knows Obama is POTUS and not George Bush.

Let's hope he votes the right way in November.

I may be off base here, but it's my take Mr. Valenzuela will forgive and forget before he votes illegally in June and November.

There's about a 60/40 chance this guy isn't even a documented citizen, if he's in so-cal.

I’m not. Who do you think is paying the higher cost of fuel so you can ride the bus? (everyone that pays taxes in the area that funds that bus)

$4.39 best I can find around here in OC.

Notice folks are driving a little slower (surface streets)

I try to do the shopping on the way to or from work rather make a special trip at weekends.

Drill here, drill now!
