Mitt Romney may have more money than any other presidential candidate in the race, but his wife said today that she does not consider herself wealthy. “We can be poor in spirit, and I don’t even consider myself wealthy, which is an interesting thing,” Ann Romney said in an interview on Fox News. “It can be here today and gone tomorrow.”

Does she hate poor people unless she's firing them also?

Can she take the convertible to pick up the dog at the vet?

Where does she take their magic underwear to get it cleaned?

McCain could be goofy and weird, but with Romney you get the feeling that he has never been among normal people, rich or not, as though his feet have never touched the ground, Ann is his princess, and Mitt will someday be her God, if he accepts her into his heaven.

The Romney weirdness is a part of their single minded devotion to isolation and separation from normal humans during their entire history as part of the Mormon private inner circle of powerful and wealthy elites.

Mitt is going to have a lot of negative flip flop accusations thrown at him in the general, but if its all brought out now he might be able to focus real issues.

If his true history was brought out, it would finish him in politics forever, which is what we all want.

Romney needs to be driven out of republican politics.

Pretty easy to be “poor in spirit” - and a heckuva lot easier to be silly - with a couple hundred million in the bank.

Is this the sort of insight we may expect from our next First Lady?

Let's test this out, Ann.

Have your husband write me a check for $300 million.

I certainly won't be as fawningly self-indulgent with it as he has apparently been.

Cheers!

Stop hanging around with Warren Buffett and John Kerry, then.

Cheers!

Interesting, all the comments.

I immediately identified with what Ann Romney was saying. I can’t pretend to “know” exactly what she meant, but I think I know what she meant.

The woman has MS (she also had breast cancer.) I have MS. We are not Romney wealthy, but we are “comfortable”...but the amount of money we have in the bank does nothing for my sense of well-being.

She has a disease that is so unpredictable she never knows how she will feel when she wakes up the next day. Never knows when her body will give out on her. It is a progressive disease, and progressive diseases, progress.

I’ve heard her talk about campaigning and how sometimes she has to return to the bus, too fatigued to even talk. She puts on a good “face” (lots of MS patients do)...but I’ve also heard her say that sometimes she has to say to her husband “Go storm the castle” because she can’t go due to her illness.

I saw a Cavuto clip where he discussed Ann Romney, he said he watches her, and he can see the MS peeking through...why because he knows the disease.

What was the old saying, “If you have your heatlh, you’ve got just about everything.”

I cut the woman some slack...I don’t think she was belittling their wealth, I just think she was trying to express the reality of life...wealth ultimately is not what matters.

It is something about her; being snobby perhaps.

Snob? A New England tradition...

He can write me a check for $1 million to build a sanctuary for homeless cats.

“here today gone tomorrow” is such a platitude when preached by people who have never had to face tomorrow and realistically, they never will

The Romneys should stuff it, they are not lovable humble fuzzballs not are they working class people, they should never talk about anything except obama’s usurpation of the Constitution and disdain for individual liberties except for abortion

You’re right Ann. If you’re poor in spirit, you could give away all your money and still be happy. Show me.

“I don’t think of myself as rich”

That’s how the out-of-touch rich try to show that they aren’t out of touch—and really just demonstrate how very much they are.

Everybody gets at least one "tomorrow" they can't buy their way out of. Everybody.

What the heck does “poor in spirit” have to do with wealth? I have always hated that line of thought.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit" is biblical and I'm sure that you already know that mormons have a "different take" on things biblical than normal people do.
