Advertisers bail from Rush Limbaugh show (Carbonite)
politico ^ | 3/2/12

Three advertisers on Rush Limbaugh’s popular radio show Friday announced that they are pulling their ads, and other companies are expressing concern over customer outrage in the wake of the conservative host’s controversial “slut” comments this week.

“We don’t condone negative comments directed toward any group. In response, we are currently pulling our ads from Rush with Rush Limbaugh,” the company Sleep Train Mattress Centers announced on its Twitter account early Friday.

The company began tweeting at some of its followers starting around midnight, telling multiple Twitter users, “Thank you for your concern. We are currently pulling all of our ads with Rush Limbaugh.”

All of the company’s tweets announcing its decision met grateful responses from the Twitter world.

“I have to buy a frame this weekend. Now I know where to go. Thank you for refusing to support Rush’s hatred,” @djimenez9 tweeted.

“Thank you @theSleepTrain for not supporting misogyny. You’re a good egg,” said @FlightyWendy.

Carbonite is awesome. I’ve used them for years. I am sorry to see this.

I just sent a msg to Carbonite, via their help window, advising that I will not renew.

I hope their balls are on fire.

Let’s keep up the onslaught against these cowardly businesses.

Good point someone made in that the protestors probably don’t or won’t use the products of those they have asked to boycott Rush.

We have cash, or so the rich liberals claim. Time for us to show some muscle out in the free market.

The best commercial beds are made by a conservative Christian co in Orange County, CA — Custom Comfort. They are so excellent and so very comfortable that I never go to the showroom, I order beds over the phone, sight unseen. They tell me to come in and try the bed but I know I don’t need to. After hotels I can’t wait to come home to my bed.

I don’t know if they are national. But they used to advertise on radio in SoCal.

...."Anyone know an alternative?"....

I've used Norton Ghost for years and have never had a problem. It's automatic and it really works.

I guess you could say it's risky because I use a local HD to backup to, but what are the odds of both crashing at once? I guess a fire or tornado might get me, but It hasn't happened in over 15 years. I have just restored C: when things get so messed up I can't get by and it takes about 30 minutes for about 40 gigs of stuff. If I use my USB drive, maybe 45 to an hour cause it's slower. A WD USB 1 terabyte drive runs less than $100 most places. They have solid state USB 3.0 drives now that will hold my stuff for about the same price, just not 1 terabyte.

I divide my main drive in 2 parts and just make C: big enough for my OS and a few programs. The data is usually kept elsewhere on D:,E:,F:, ect. Get a virus and restore C: in minutes. When I install my OS and programs, I make am image then totally clean and keep it somewhere. If I get a virus I can use the totally clean image or go back a few days to get rid of it. If I loose something mechanical, I can do the same if I have the image somewhere besides my main drive.

I never understood Mosy or Carbonite because, if I understand correctly, you have to format C:, install the OS and then restore the image online. I'm sure Ghost is faster using the boot disk. Also, if you have a virus or malware, doesn't it get stored with your data so you would just reinstall the virus?

I would think the Carbonite/EIB demographic is only a tiny, tiny part of their business. Good niche point of sale - but nothing that is make or break.

Seriously. No person should be paying for another person to engage in sex. No one has the right to free sex. Next she will tell is we have to pay for her lingerie and toys too.

Me too, plus advising them that I would do all I possibly could to dissuade others from using their fair-weather-friend services.

PS: Don’t use Carbonite, Sleep Comfort, LegalZoom, etc.

Isnt a bit hypocritical of EIB to be pimping a known MoveOn, liberal, Boston based, corporation?

Surprised more folks are PO’ed about that...

Carbonite advertises on all the conservative shows on my Fox network.

The funniest one is Carbonite. I never heard of them before Rush, and never heard of them anywhere else. Wait’ll their sales (hopefully) plummet. I sure won’t go near any company of politically correct cowards.

You can keep carbonite if you really like it. I’ve used others and they all seem about the same. In the end, there is no other way for me but to actually copy important files myself to a memory stick and/or CD.

I don’t know about Rush starving, but he has now apologized for what he said, so maybe he was a little worried. Or maybe it was the lawsuit that people were offering to help her with.

Carbonite

The Carbonite software is trash. It runs ALL the time.... and once when I had a computer crash of the hard drive and tried to reload the saved files/programs it would not reload anything. Tech support was a waste of time and would NOT do anything to help.

I have been using Mozy backup and it is the complete reversal over Carbonite.
Only runs one time a day and after the first time it is very unobtrusive. Two times it has restored deleted or wiped files and was fast and easy to use.
Compared to Carbonite it is a gem of a program.

I predict the majority of sponsors are back with a week or two. Profit has no shame, nor should it.

Carbonite. I wont be renewing my subscription when it comes up later this year.

Look into Mozy Backup. It is free up to 2gb of selected files. The software and operation is far less buggy than Carbonite. Has saved my bacon at least twice.
The interface is relatively easy to use. I have mine set to check only at 2:15. It does so and never bothers me any other time. Has a small foot print.
Mozy, give is a try.

ho hum...not the first time.

Wait til they notice that these bozos are good at sending email complaints but their actual sales (to conservatives) fall steeply.

Anyone know an alternative?

Look into Mozy BackUp. Small unobtrusive foot print and after the first time it runs only once a day but does not bother me any other time.
It saved me several times with individual files sometimes with many more.
Carbonite is buggy and a drain on a system. Mozy works like a charm and now I would not be with out it. Check it out at Mozy.com. You will not regret it.
