Joshua Smith, 14, was at one of life’s crossroads. His mother, Tamiko Robinson, fought hard to keep the Detroit teen on the straight and narrow. Members of a local gang in their twenties pressured him to live life as they did, on the edge.

Early Monday, Joshua made his decision. According to the Mail Online, he entered his stepfather’s room, got hold of a 12-gauge shotgun, and pumped at least ten rounds into his sleeping mother. The execution, carried out gangland style, was a clear and unambiguous message. It speaks volumes about two lives, destroyed in an instant.

Probably too young for prison, and even if he was sent to prison he would probably enjoy it. Lots of gangs and violence in prison. Thats what he wants.

No, not too young for prison. My guess is he will be sent there, to join the gang he so desperately wants to be part of.

Not to bash mom since you should not speak ill of the dead, but:

Where’s dad?

Does mom have a job and income or is she on “public assistance?”

How many generations in this “family” have relied upon government assistance?

Any prospects for productive employment among these people?

We can probably guess the answers to these questions.

Not even a two bit punk. A one-bit or maybe half-bit punk. Perhaps even the tough guys he longs to be cooped up with will not take too kindly to a gratuitous matricide.

In this case, a little READING can fill in some of the details. She apparently remarried.

May Ms. Robinson rest in peace. And may the stepfather make that little sh!t Joshua wish he was never born.

God help us.

“Members of a local gang in their twenties pressured him to live life as they did, on the edge.”

###

Well how brave of them. On the edge and all. Maybe Hollywood will lionize them, seeing how obsessed they are with edgy behavior.

More like OVER the edge into gross, uncivilized, pathologically antisocial, murderous savagery.

“On the edge” is confused counterculture terminology used for talentless “artists” who can’t produce works sufficient to pass a Junior High level art class.

Why anyone who cares about their kids would stay in Detroit or any of the urban jungles is beyond me.

Must be hard living as an Asian in Detroit. Oh, wait....

” It speaks volumes about two lives, destroyed in an instant.”

Nope, these lives were destroyed by DECADES of liberal utopian policies. Detroit is the logical outcome of democrat rule.

Didn’t read the whole story but if it were my son I’d move away from the city. I’d move where there were no gangs.

Anyway, it’s too late. And something else must have been wrong. My friend grew up in south central and had to avoid both the crips and the bloods on the way home from school every day. Went on to become a doctor. Not easy but it can be done.

Without the shotgun this goes on every day. Teenagers buy into the violence and gangs thing. They ignore or physical threaten their parents (usually a single mom) if they try to stop them.

This is America in the age of Obama. These are the values that these young people have today. Get used to it.

Not to bash mom? YOU’RE DOING EXACTLY THAT!

I commend her for trying to keep her son out of a gang. And I don’t in any way say the kid isn’t responsible for what he did. My point is that this story is just one more sad illustration of what the welfare state has done to us. And the worst part is that instead of pointing out this fact, the media is probably going to use it as a reason to expand welfare because “we aren’t doing enough for the poor.”

I’m pretty sure if they put him in gen pop he will be an important part of a “gang” .... but not the type he was thinking of.

Really? Is this another high capacity assault shotgun?

Sad. At 14 I was discovering girls and cars. I couldn't have conceived of something like this.

Wonder if this was some sort of initiation?

At any rate, this kid is about to learn what violence really is.

Even my small Georgia town, far from Atlanta and any of that influence, has gangs. You can’t get away from them anymore. Armor your children from gangs from within. In their hearts.

high capacity assault shotgun

Yeah, I wondered that, too. That's a long time, and at least one re-load, depending.
