Newt Gingrich emerged Thursday as the first Republican White House hopeful to criticize President Barack Obama for apologizing after Muslim holy books containing extremist language were burned by NATO soldiers.
Gingrich told a crowd in Spokane, Washington, "President Obama surrendered twice today and I think that deserves to be brought to the country's attention."
**snip**
He continued, "The president apologized for the burning, but I haven't seen the president demand that the government of Afghanistan apologize for the killing of two young Americans."
Gingrich said Obama was ignoring the treat of radical Muslims intent on harming Americans.
"There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama's attention in a negative way, and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States, period," Gingrich said.

“He is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the United States. Period.”
Gingrich said if Hamid Karzai doesn’t apologize, the United States should leave the country.
“We should say good bye and good luck, we don’t need to be wasting our time and our money,” Gingrich said.
For your ping list.
I’m not sure the exact time but Governor Palin made a similar call on her Facebook page. But being a Newt-ist myself, it’s good to see him lead.
Go Newt Go.
I think Santorum might make a workable veep for Newt, but he’s too green to be president yet. If Newtorum can get their acts together than Romney will cease to be a worry.
HJere's what I wrote on my page earlier today:
KORAN BURNING AND AFGHAN RIOTS
FR Thread: HERE
Good on her, she's always in the center of the fray taking flak.
These Afghans are such hypocrites. Everyday they sh!t on their own “holy” book and treat each other like crap, breeding terror and what not. What part of the “thou shall not use your book to attack us” they do not understand, or else it is not a worthy book?
They treat us like servants, like we are some kind of maid, to take care of their arse better than they care for their own.
Originaly this was a post 911 operations to maintain a civil divorce civil from Islam, but now it turns into a criminal matter of what we have in custody that is ours, we must do as they say. ANd thus now we are actualy getting remarried to them.
This is such horsecrap. How did BushII and the others come back like puppy dogs to these mongrels?
I did hear that Sarah Palin, like Newt, had demanded an apology from the Afghan president.
Meanwhile Karzai is demanding that the U.S. servicemembers responsible for the burning of the so called “holy books” be turned over to Afghan authorities for trial.
Dear Reader is in a whole lot of trouble with his spinelessness. We are so screwed with this guy as CIC.
Right on. Newt is right.
Thats whay I have noticed about her too from the beginning. She draws the flak and makes it safe for the more timid Repubs to take a stand. She was the first to take on Obama after the election when the Repubs were in complete disarray, and she continues to be the first to step into the line of fire on issue after issue.
Santorum make a workable veep for Newt? Are you joking?
Santorum was part of the coup that unseated the Speaker. Newt had mentored Rick Santorum when he first arrived in the House of Rep, and was stabbed in the back by tricky Ricky.
Gingrich would have to be crazy and stupid to trust Santorum ever again!
From the WSJ:"Most Afghans learned about the Quran burning in Florida only when Mr. Karzai on March 24 (4 days after!) condemned the act as "a crime against the religion and the entire Muslim nation," called on the U.S. and the U.N. to bring the perpetrators to justice and demanded "a satisfactory response to the resentment and anger of over 1.5 billion Muslims around the world."
Karzai did the same thing this time and 0buttwipe apologizes to him.
ping
Why can’t people see that Newt is our Churchill for these times?
I know people that’re Newt-ists. They have some fantastic tans...
wait
Wrong Newt-ists..sorry..:(
I’ve done considerable study of the Islamic religion and the various cultures under Islam.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the way to properly dispose of Korans and other Islamic holy documents is to vaporize them in numerous and properly placed thermonuclear explosions. The Obamamites must realize that also and that is likely the reason Obama wants to drastically cut the number of nuclear warheads in our arsenal.
Indeed; we are wasting the lives of our best young men and women there. We should destroy every vestige of infrastructure in that hellhole and leave them. It would be worth it just to see what kind of unpleasant death the Taliban have in mind for that corrupt hypocrite Karzai.
Why have Romney and Santorum failed to comment on this? Probably because Michigan has a large Muslim population and Mitt and Rick are afraid of offending it so soon before the Michigan primary by giving the impression they might not like blood-thirsty Muslim rioters killing American soldiers.
If Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin are the only two prominent Republicans with enough courage to speak the truth, let’s have a Gingrich/Palin ticket and be done with it.
Looks like he took another one for His team. :) It is so
difficult for me to forget Rick for doing this.
—>>If Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin are the only two prominent Republicans with enough courage to speak the truth, lets have a Gingrich/Palin ticket and be done with it.
Amen. Obama’s worse nightmare. 2 Conservatives/2 reformers.
Way to go Newt. All we hear from the GOP leadership is crickets chirping.
Looks like either a little journalistic license or Freudian slip, pointing out that harming Americans is actually a treat.
"That's a fully false, fallacious and ridiculous narrative that is not borne out by any facts," Carney said. "The President, following up on a telephone conversation, the likes of which he has routinely with President Karzai, wrote a long letter on a variety of issues related to our bilateral engagement, including reconciliation, including the trilateral talks with Pakistan last week in Islamabad, in which he also expressed his condolences - or rather, his apology for the inadvertent burning of religious materials by American personnel in Afghanistan."
Did anyone get pea soup on their pants from Jay Carney?
So the "narrative" by Newt is "fallacious." Carney just described what Newt is condemning the President for doing. The spinners for the Obama Regime are a disgrace. They all need to be checked in for mental evaluations; then turned over to a priest for exorcism.
Good for Newt! I’m so sick of that sorry sack of $hit that lives in the W.H. who consistently sucks up to muslims.
Newt is not my top choice (she’s not running) or even in my top ten among potential candidates. However, he is by far my first choice among those still in the race, and this is why. With the immediate and exceptionally grave danger currently facing our country, we need a leader who will tell it like it is, and that is Newt. At least Gingrich comes up with the right answer 90% of the time, and this is one of those times.
Bump
He should have also reminded them that burning is an acceptable method of destroying this evil book.
“If Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin are the only two prominent Republicans with enough courage to speak the truth, lets have a Gingrich/Palin ticket and be done with it.”
Now there’s a plan!
Fixed
Much as I agree...we don’t have the will, nor do we have a Gen.like Sherman.
Plus, pull funds from Pak-EE-Stan and put ‘em back on the terrorist list.
Wait for the brokered convention.
Becaue the media, its idiot pundidty and curent polls tell them otherwise?
Just a guess, mind you.
Independent, critical thinking, on the individual part of most voters have long gone the way of the wind.
GO NEWT!!!
WTG, Newt. Nail that SOB.
Wrong Rick. I’d bet on Newt selecting Gov Perry for veep.
Some of my friends and I were at the Spokane rally when Newt said this. It was a great moment for him. After the rally, a CBS reporter came up to us and said that his boss in NY wanted him to get responses to this statement. We told him we weren’t interested in talking to CBS. You can bet the liberal media is trying to manufacture a controversy about this. My money’s on Newt to make them cry like little girls.
I applaud Newt for his comment.
I just watched the Republican debate (I taped it) and am I imagining things or does it appear to anyone else that Romney and Paul appear to be ‘tag-teaming’ Rick Santorum?
Paul is a one-trick-pony who turns every question into a discussion of federal government intervention in our lives.....never offering any solutions, but he keeps beating that horse.
I am actually looking for input from any Freeper who has noticed that Paul, in every debate I have watched, has never singled out Romney to chastise.
It really struck me while watching the debate that Paul was acting the ‘Stooge’, which is an apt description of Ron, for Romney. Otherwise, he restricts his comments to attacks on Rick.
It also was interesting to listen (not having watched the debate until tonight) to pundits opine that Newt didn’t do well in the debate......my wife and I thought he did VERY well. His comment noting that no one in the main stream media had the courage to ask obama why he supported infanticide should be a bumper sticker, in my opinion.
EODGUY
Nothing on FOX about Newt on this. Just more coverage of protests.
Gingrich first to hit Obama
For a second there.
I sense a Newt re-surge!
Believe it or not, Rush made a big deal about the unholy Paul/Romney alliance today.
They did the same thing in Iowa and Florida to Newt. They're clearly in cahoots.
