Thanks for pinging me to your obnoxious and petty opinion of Sarah Palin.

You feel you can criticize Palin for speaking out because she doesn’t have as much skin in the game as Newt but I can not criticize you for not having as much skin in the game as Sarah.

Neither YOU nor I are the topics of discussion in the thread. The entire issue that Sam Paine raised was the fact that she is a non-candidate as opposed to Newt. She wants to be taken seriously, she wants to be relevant, but unfortunately she opted out of the race and she is indeed not a factor as she would be IF she had gotten into the race.

Let's try an analogy. You and I are watching a NASCAR event, we'll say the Daytona 500. Morgan Shepherd is drafting Dale Earnhardt Jr, and suddenly goes outside, I say "he doesn't have enough room" and sure enough, he hits the wall, scrapes Earnhardt's car, and Shepherd is out of the race. I say "he didn't scope out how much room was there before he made his move", and you suddenly retort with "you're not a race car driver, you've never been in a race car, you're just up here in the stands watching the race! you don't know anything and until you have the experience of those drivers, you can't criticize them at ALL!"

Now quietly dwell upon just how stupid that sounds, and then apply it to your own commentary regarding Sam and I.

I'm still hopeful that you might "get it".

Your opinion seems to be ‘she isn’t doing as much as Newt so she should shut up’. So to be consistent ‘you aren’t doing as much as Sarah Palin so you should shut up’. See I don’t believe you should shut up.

WRONG. Nowhere have I suggested or even hinted that Sarah should "shut up". Kindly do not assign an obvious untruth to me. What I (and Sam btw) have pointed out is that Sarah has far less to risk with her utterances and proclamations because she is NOT a candidate. Newt IS a candidate and what he says and does on ANY topic will have a far greater impact on how his presidential campaign ends up, and I'm devoutly hoping it will end with him taking the Oath of Office in January 2013. Now Sarah on the other hand? If she catches Hell for what she says or does, it's no big deal, she continues on with her Fox News gig and lives happily ever after.

I am just pointing out your hypocrisy.

No, you're behaving like a mad little puppy barking at a chew toy that won't squeak.

And I am still hopeful that you might get it.

I actually think you have EVERY right to comment on the race car driver from the stands. Let’s continue your analogy shall we.

After the race, an ex race car driver, Tim Jones (sorry I don’t do Nascar), is on his Facebook criticizing the way Shepherd ran the race. You comment on Free Republic that Tim Jones shouldn’t be talking about it because he isn’t in the race with Shepherd and Earnhart and it didn’t cost him anything.

The earlier posts about Palin, were quick and fairly innocuous. Jeff Head mentioned her in his post, and I mentioned her back (from the posted article) to him. Neither of us made her the center of the thread.

Oh please, I was born at night, but not LAST night! You may not have made Sarah the 'center' of the thread and there was no need to, because you (and other posters) weaved her into nearly the entire BODY of the thread! Who do you think you're fooling with that nonsense?!? LOL

The two of you took it to a whole new level, and yes you did hijack the thread, making it about some old grudge you both hold concerning Sarah Palin.

Perhaps it is because we were not fawning over Sarah as you (and other posters) do by default?

I really don't care to keep this up, doubt I will respond if you do, but you need to reconsider what you did, and try to keep it a bit lighter if you would. Sarah Palin is hardly the enemy of conservatism, the kind of animosity you hold might be better reserved for some genuine enemy of our way of life.

Who said I viewed her as an enemy? Read back and you will see that I have clearly stated that I agree with MANY of the things that Sarah has said and done, and I have no animosity towards her, but I (unlike you it seems) am not about to give her or ANY public figure claiming to be a conservative an automatic pass and a rubber stamp for anything they say and do. And I do believe you ARE smarter than that.

Fwiw, I think you are being heavily bested by the poster you are so heatedly debating, keeping this thread alive with your posts.

You should be thanking me for keeping the thread alive, that's more attention to the article you posted, right?

Show some gratitude you ingrate. lol

Once more, you distort what I said. 'Tim Jones' can say any damn thing he wants to. But unless he was in the race, his view is no better than any other spectator, regardless of his background. See how that works?

This is just one of the things that have finally convinced me that Newt is the right man at this time.

I guess I am no longer looking for someone else to step up and run...don’t know why I took so long. I guess I had just counted him out long ago and had to admit the error and change myself! LOL

“But unless he was in the race, his view is no better than any other spectator, regardless of his background. See how that works?”

I agree in a sense. Because of his background his view may be more informed and maybe not, that depends on the spectator. But saying that he is only ‘cheering from the stands’ while you are not on the track is imho hypocritical. You have no more skin in the game than Jones does but you are criticizing him for not having skin in the game. I hope that is clearer.

However there is one difference between us and Tim Jones, because of his position, his views about the race will have influence on more people because his statement will be widely dispersed via TV.

Sarah Palin has over 3 million FB fans. People do listen to what she has to say. That is why we are discussing her FB post. So she has more skin in the game than I do. I think I have about 400 FB friends.

Your tone is more civil. :)

“have pointed out is that Sarah has far less to risk with her utterances and proclamations because she is NOT a candidate.”

So what? And you and I have far less to risk than Sarah. Her opinion matters to alot more people than yours or mine. The reason I got into this argument in the first place is that your first post said that all she was doing was cheering from the stands. I wanted you to tell us how much more you were doing than Sarah and you got offended. If you are going to criticize people for doing too little then you better be ready to receive some criticism back.

‘am not about to give her or ANY public figure claiming to be a conservative an automatic pass and a rubber stamp for anything they say and do.’

I have asked you this upthread and you have still not answered.

What did Sarah Palin say in her FB post that you object to?

Newt really handled himself well on Piers Morgan tonight, taking on the Obama administration for their one sided view of the Muslim world with respect to their apologies over the Koran burning. Piers Morgan approached all of his questions from the perspective that Obama has handled the situation well, only to have Newt hit back hard over how it should have been handled.

“This is such horsecrap. How did BushII and the others come back like puppy dogs to these mongrels?”

You got that right. Ten years of wasted American lives and treasure in the vain hope of building a “democracy” for these barbarians. One of the most foolish and tragic foreign policy endeavors in US history.

“We can be sure the MSM won’t report it...”

Just wondering how the MSM all ended up being against us. You’d think there were enough conservatives out there to have at least some representation amongst the MSM.

You use the phrase “more and more.” But she hasn’t changed anything since her announcement to not run. So there is no logical reason for any progressive tendency to think of her as an “obnoxious parent.”

So all you have left is emotion. If there’s something I’m missing, let me know. But it sure looks like you’re just making stuff up.
