Santorum Questions Obama’s Christian Values
WBUR ^ | Feb. 18, 2012 | AP

COLUMBUS, Ohio — White House candidate Rick Santorum on Saturday questioned President Barack Obama’s Christian values and attacked GOP rival Mitt Romney’s Olympics leadership as he courted tea party activists and evangelical voters in Ohio, “ground zero” in the 2012 nomination fight.

Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator known for his social conservative policies, said that Obama’s agenda is “not about you. It’s not about your quality of life. It’s not about your jobs. It’s about some phony ideal. Some phony theology. Not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology.”

Obama campaign deputy press secretary Ben Labolt said Santorum’s comment was “the latest low in a Republican primary campaign that has been fueled by distortions, ugliness, and searing pessimism and negativity.

Even as he criticized Obama, Santorum also went after one of Romney’s most promoted achievements – his leadership at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

“One of Mitt Romney’s greatest accomplishments, one of the things he talks about most is how he heroically showed up on the scene and bailed out and resolved the problems of the Salt Lake City Olympic Games,” Santorum said. “He heroically bailed out the Salt Lake City Olympic Games by heroically going to Congress and asking them for tens of millions of dollars to bail out the Salt Lake games — in an earmark, in an earmark for the Salt Lake Olympic games.”

How can you distort the Kenyan's Muslim faith?

I absolutely CHALLENGE ALL of the FREEPERS who have made comments along the lines of...
..."There's many reasons to oppose Romney but religion isn't one of them"...
...or it's "bigoted" to raise religion in a race for POTUS...
...to come on board this thread & apply their "high-minded lecture" to Santorum here.

If religion is...
...(a) off-limits or uncouth in some way;
...or (b) should be hermetically sealed from what constitutes "character"...
...then go ahead..."religion doesn't matterites" & the self-appointed "bigot patrol" are hereby invited...
...to come onboard this thread & go on the indirect defense of Obama on this thread by...
...attacking Santorum...
...plus lecturing posters to lay off bringing up "Christian values" and whether Obama has them or not.

Go on.

Be consistent (for some of you -- for a change).

Show that you're not a hypocrite after all.

Let's see those single-minded convictions about keeping beliefs & religion out of this race come out re: your even application of them across the board.

What? Few takers? What? You're going to prove yourself to be hypocrites, after all?

I wholeheartly agree with Rick Santorum, only I go much further!!! Barack Hussein Obama is no Christian of any sort. He is one of two things, either an non-believer in God as worshipped in any type of Christian religion, or.....a devout Muslim!!! IMHO, I side with Obama and his wife, Michelle being outright atheists. The only God they believe in is themselves. End of story!!!

Lets see.
Christians protect the unborn/BHO aborts them
Christians cherish children/BHO thinks its punishment
Christians care for the less fortunate/BHO envies the more fortunate. Envy is a sin.
BHO endangers Christians in Egypt, Libya, Syria, and Kurdistan

The MSM has no problem with Obama throwing around partisan, ideological rhetoric at the national prayer breakfast, but real Christians better not dare call him out on his opportunistic distortions and deception.

Good.

It is past time that the phoney baloney good time rocken roller always on vacation during the Muslim holy days Obama is challenged.

I am sick of the left saying we can’t question a persons patriotism or faith.

Only God knows his heart, but we sure can question his actions that have gone contrary to Christianity and Patriotism. Let the war games begin!

“Santorum has said that he wouldn’t try to take away the birth control pill or condoms but that states should be free to ban them. He told a Christian blog last year that as president he would warn the nation about “the dangers of contraception” and the permissive culture it encourages. He’s also questioned whether women should be in combat and said that “radical feminists” have undermined the traditional family by “convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness.””

Other than promising NOT to take away birth control pills or condoms, I’m trying to figure out why any conservative should have an issue with Rick. The rest of the above sounds just fine.

Obama causes me to think of Simon Magus (Simon the Sorcerer) who wanted to use Christianity to make himself wealthier and more powerful. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+8%3A9-24&version=NIV

Obama gets to hang out in a racist anti American church for 20 years. And if you call him out on it, you are the hater and racist. It's quite amazing.

I have always said Faith and Reason can never be separated. Atheists say it has to be-—but they live by faith in their failed system, also, but unlike Christians who gladly state their faith....Atheists lie and say “faith” is “irrational” although their lives are lived on faith of sick, twisted ideas such as Marxism.

All postmodernist’s thinking is irrational—that you can compartmentalize human beings and take away the moral nature from man (Stalin’s idea of “separation of church and state”).

You can not have a complete human being—a flourishing one by removing either the rational element or the moral one. That is what constitutes the Nature of Man. Faith and Reason are designed to function together in all civil societies. Zero wants “Lord of the Flies”....godless world so they can create a termite colony of people.

Remove either faith or reason and you have a disaster (Libertarians need to wise up). It is why the USA was only possible during the window of The Age of Reason when God was not yet obliterated by the Marxists and Austins and Benthams.

As for Mormonism—there is no rational thinking involved in that ideology—which is so bizarre you have to wonder if Romney is insane. It is why I can’t vote for him—I guess you can say it is because of his religion, when I think of it as being about his rational abilities.

Correct. The MSM only thinks it is divisive when a Conservative candidate calls out the democrats and Obama. Basically they want to shut down the opposition. But Obama is not a christian, he’s following the radical theologies of Islam and liberation theology.

I question Obama’s Christian faith, and how devout he is, and wonder what his true theology is.

I know he says he’s Christian. But, every time I have heard him talk of his faith, he talks about how Christianity calls us to be “our brother’s keeper, and our sister’s keeper”. He says that tenets of Christianity such as this are what drew him to Christianity as an adult.

I question his faith because he completely misunderstands and misinterprets the Bible story in which Cain asks God “am I my brother’s keeper”, when God asked him where his brother Abel was, after Cain had killed Abel.

For Obama to cite this as his inspiration for Christianity, this misunderstood Bible story, makes one wonder how much of Christian theology he really understands.

Yes.

Tell me a candidate's position toward the "least of these" -- for example, preborns...where 1/3rd or more are slaughtered/dismembered in the most dangerous place to be alive on this planet (the womb)...
...and I know more than just where they stand on an abstract "social issue..."
...I then know a key to their character...like Romney's openly pro-abortion statements up thru May of 2005...(he supposedly "converted" on pro-life cause by November of '04!)...
...or Romney's pro-abortion political actions via RomneyCare (2006)...
...or Romney's pro-slaughter of embryos' statement he gave to Katie Couric in December of 2007...

ALL of those are "character" considerations...not simply "social issues' 'stuff'"

Likewise, vulnerability to deception in what's supposedly THE MOST important area of a person (his faith) IS a character issue...Guess what, ALL? Gullibility can't be compartmentalized from faith & other-worldly worldviews? Gullibility and lack of basic discernment bleeds over into some very important POTUS responsibilities!

Since Romney's faith has said a LOT of positive things about both Mohammed & Islam (see Mormonism: What the Latter Day Saints think of Islam [Indicator of how Mitt perceives Islam?]...
...and since Romney's faith has said a LOT of negative things about Christians & Christian sects (we're supposedly "apostates," a dead & false church, "corrupt professors ALL," the "church of the devil," and creedally abominable)...
...my rhetorical Q for all Romneybots or potential Romney voters is: Tell us how Romney would deal foreign policy wise with international Christians vs. international Muslims?
Tell us, why isn't Romney simply Obama lite on these considerations?

"By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?" Jesus Christ

Matthew 7:16

- Obama signed "hate crimes" against those who speak the truth of homosexuality

Obama signs hate crimes bill into law

- Obama has signed into law legislation "legitimizing" homosexuality in the US military

- Obama is an agitator of covetousness and malice

- Obama has lied on thousands of occasions

- Obama has mocked the Bible

Obama mocks Bible

- Obama has twisted scripture such as Genesis 4:9 to justify Marxism, Communism, and government theft

Obama is not a Christian. Period. He is anathema to everything God's word has taught.
