State Agent Tells Preschooler She Can't Eat Home-packed Lunch

Talk about government run amok, get a load of this. A preschooler in North Carolina was told by a state official that the lunch that was packed by her mother was unacceptable, because it did not meet USDA guidelines. The official then made the preschooler purchase a lunch provided by the school, and the girl later went home with her uneaten sack lunch AND a bill for $1.25. Talk about Big Brother watching you!

As reported in the Carolina Journal Online, the girl's mother packed her a " turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice." However, this meal "did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day."

Lunch box inspection? Are you serious? I'm pretty sure there are better uses of state funds than inspecting preschoolers' lunch boxes.

The girl's mother -- who said she wishes to remain anonymous to protect her daughter from retaliation -- said she received a note from the school stating that students who did not bring a "healthy lunch" would be offered the missing portions, which could result in a fee from the cafeteria, in her case $1.25.

"I don't feel that I should pay for a cafeteria lunch when I provide lunch for her from home," the mother wrote in a complaint to her state representative, Republican G.L. Pridgen of Robeson County.

The mother was angry for a number of reasons:

What got me so mad is, number one, don't tell my kid I'm not packing her lunch box properly," the girl's mother told CJ. "I pack her lunchbox according to what she eats. It always consists of a fruit. It never consists of a vegetable. She eats vegetables at home because I have to watch her because she doesn't really care for vegetables."

When the girl came home with her lunch untouched, her mother wanted to know what she ate instead. Three chicken nuggets, the girl answered. Everything else on her cafeteria tray went to waste.

Fox News' Trace Galllagher also reported on the story of the state messing with the preschoolers lunch box:

According to the Fox report, school officials later apologized. Why? For a stupid "big brother" invasion of privacy? No. They apologized, because they now deem that the girls lunch did meet USDA requirements. So... the lunch had the government's blessing. Big deal. They should scrap this program and return the money to the taxpayers.

Please share this information with your friends and let us know what you think. Should the government (state, local, or federal) be inspecting children's lunch boxes?

I have a little list, and I'm adding to it thus:

“I will know the Republic is Safe when:

...

“4. A parent may pack a school lunch of Twinkies and M&Ms, along with a steel-bladed knife with which to prepare the Twinkies for M&M insertion, and no official will have [Richard] to say about it that anyone else need heed.”

(Items 1 thru 3 not being germane to the subject at hand.)

PILES PILES! of food go to waste when the govt dictates the menu. Then the food stampers march over to Walgreens after school and have their mom get them copious amounts of candy with the money they saved with the food stamps they used to get more snacks.

One more reason to abolish the government school system.

Freedom and intellectual thought the primary reasons.

When I was in high school we had to leave our guns in our cars if we drove or in the principal’s office if our parents brought us. (We weren’t allowed to have them on the school bus)

We're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little more now if we can and the rest next quarter.

I hope the mother sent a ‘special lunch’ to school the next day for the agent. If they have a dog, it should have been easy enough to locate one outside.

I don’t think I know this country any more.

All you need to know today is, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you" are the ten scariest words you will ever hear.

I’ve been thinking about this. If it was my kid, I would send them a bill for the wasted lunch I packed...AND a note stating they will receive a bill EVERY time they pull this bullshit in the future.

You are correct. Nothing short of revolution will end this kind of thing. It is deeply entrenched and it will take force to stop it.

The GOP will fall in line with this soon enough. No reason to believe we’re represented by them any longer. Another reason to homeschool.

Yeah, so except the parts about a state agent not letting her eat the lunch she brought and then charging the family for school food, it's all perfectly accurate. A confused four year-old and people think that black helicopters are landing in the yard...

I think it may be time to find out the names of the government thugs and expose them to all the negative publicity they deserve along with the names of the enablers of this stupidity. It's one thing to be an anonymous government drone, it's another matter to be pilloried in front of the community along with your name on everyone’s lips. OK, Mr. or Ms. Bureaucrat, how do you like being at the center of an enraged public? It's not as easy as terrifying preschool kids, is it?

Contact the Constitutional branch of the ACLU (can’t remeber the name of them right now) and have them draft a letter to the school district saying they will sue if your child’ right against unreasonable search and seizure are EVER abused again.

Heck, the story from the School system is bad enough. Paying govt (union) flunkies to inspect kids' lunches?

They probably didn't even do that in E germany. The slowly boiling pot is near 212.
