My mother and father grew up in Mussolini’s Italy. My dad is gone now, but when my mother saw the children singing praises to Barry Hussein Soetoro Odinga 0Bama0, she was chilled to the bone, because she was required to sing praises to Il Duce Mussolini in school.

You would win that bet. Most informed people understand that apostasy from basic teaching has caused there to be a polarized Catholic Church. Because the Church is so large, it takes time to correct this, but the correction/purification IS taking place. More and more bishops are being appointed, with care taken to ensure that they are orthodox, good men. Personally, I believe that our Lord has allowed this attack on freedom of religion by the administration to awaken even more people in the Church...and to speed up the process even more.

I shared some handouts with people at Mass yesterday and was a bit surprised at how such a small thing as a handout seemed to enable them to begin talking about things that they had been longing to say on all of this.

I can find no support for Mussolini ACTUALLY making the trains run on time, it seems to be a myth. I certainly have not been able to find any confirmation for his having train crews shot for late arrival. I suppose I must be looking in all the wrong places.
While I believe you may be right, I also believe Obama vastly underestimates what the conservative/patriot response will be.
Excellent point. He derives his power from this document, so if he decides it's no longer valid, then so is his administration.
He probably wasn’t figuring in the potential of uniting catholic lefties with catholic righties.
The lefties may still think Paris Hilton ought to have “free access” to Plan B, but they don’t like to see their family get picked on by this guy.
It’s like when my kids fight with each other all day every day....but if an outsider picks on any of them, they’ll rally to the defense.
I don’t remember what thread I was on last night, but I read a FReeper’s post about attending mass this past weekend that Pelosi also attended.
Did she receive communion? Yes.
Since the Constitution is a dead document to people like 0bama and Ginsberg,
any oath to uphold it, to them, is just as meaningless.
Their intellect and ability to make society-shaping directives takes precedent over anything written in the past.

Mussolini had his own son-in-law executed for reaching out to England to pursue peace.
My father told me that you had to be careful of what you said to whom about Mussolini. If you said anything bad about him in front of a Fascist, you could be killed. If you said anything good about him in front of a Communist, you could be killed. So the common people devised a way to deal with this by saying, “He makes the trains run on time.”
My mother tells me they used to sing praises to Il Duce and the Fascists in school. One of the songs they used to sing went like this.

They were told in school that they could no longer speak their regional dialect. They had to speak the schoolbook Italian, as devised by Il Duce’s education ministers.
The school uniform, for my mom, was a black shirt, a gray nectie, and a gray skirt.
Her grandmother said it looked like the children were dressed for a funeral march.

You see? So your boss does not have to walk to the drugstore with you and pay for it... you have to take your health insurance card and go there like you always did, only now it will be free!

I’m wondering if the parish priest does not have much say in the matter...with someone of her fame and stature it would (most likely) be up to her bishop to deal with her.
They would probably try to deal with it privately at first...have a meeting with her and request she personally refrain from receiving.
If she is defiant, they would have to discuss the matter with the parish pastors about how to deal with her.
While many would like to see a showdown at the altar, this is something priests avoid.
The focus is on the eucharist, and no one wants to make it about Nancy Pelosi.
Despite the common thinking among non-catholic leftists that the Church is tyrannical and oppressive....the Church really does give its members opportunities to resolve these things without publicly embarrassing someone at the most important part of the mass.
Unfortunately, when stubborn defiant catholics also are famous and powerful, it creates public scandal.
They are going to have deal with this...and soon.
