Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president Thursday, saying he's impressed by the Republican candidate's debate prowess and believes he could easily beat President Obama in November.

"Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love," Trump said in Las Vegas, telling the candidate to "go out and get 'em."

The real estate mogul, speaking briefly with reporters before the announcement, said that even though he "never knew" Romney before the race began, he's come to know him in recent months.

"His general attitude and the last two debates were very impressive," Trump said.

He also cited Romney's position on China, calling the former Massachusetts governor

It was more of comment on the sic transit gloria mundi aspect of the situation. It’s one of those things about life, like you can’t let the actions of others affect your mood or circumstance. I think we are better off without Trump’s endorsement. He’s a humbug.

I am really glad he is endorsing Romney. When I heard he was endorsing Newt I, like some other Freepers, thought he was up to no good. Figuring (unfortunately) that Romney is probably going to get the nomination...I figured he would use “his guy” not getting the nomination as an excuse to bolt to a third party bid.

Hey dummy, when Obama appointed Cordray, the Senate wasn’t in recess. We weren’t complaining about a recess appointment, it’s that he made a recess appointment when there wasn’t recess.

Uh...DUH...I know that...they were in pro forma sessions. You are apparently too obtuse to get my point. PERHAPS I should have put "recess" in quotes for you so that you would understand that I was saying some future GOP president will make a "RECESS" (get it now?) appointment when the dim senate is in pro forma session. And when they do that...if you don't think there will be some on here that will cheer because dims are getting a taste of their own medicine...regardless of how unconstitutional it is...well...hopefully you get the point. Maybe?

Just WOW.

All I know is that I’m not going to roll over.

And there is nothing that said that I have to ignore the oath to support and defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic that I took when I first joined the military

The way I see it, the current administration as well as the RNC elite who’s pushing willard the liberal are domestic enemies of the Constitution.

Got bumped off the computer. Lost all my shortcuts for t-shirts etc.

OK cause there were thing that really needed to be done.

Thanks sam for the synopsis of “the Donald” threads.

My take on the fiasco:
Trump is a wheeler/dealer. He doesn't do anything without getting something for it.

He was late to the integument. Deal wasn't set or changes were made to Trumps advantage

Two commentators mentions the sour look on the wives faces (One related it to a child's look just before they have to take bad tasting medicine)

The odds in Vegas said that anyone who Trump endorsed would not necessarily be favorable to their campaign.

Newt not only was given the impression, but comments by Donald were replayed today that indicated he favored Newt till twenty four hours ago.

Not sure what to think...but one possibility is Donald is setting Romney up for a “Your Fired” in the future.

Donald has been promised something in return for the endorsement....He sure doesn't need money....What could it be...He certainly doesn't need power...Money buys power.

Could he exchange his endorsement for an agreement that Mitt would stop attacking Newt. Just saw Mittens on Hannity and he didn't say one bad thing about Newt...Kept waiting for it and maybe it was missed, but still. Sure seems like a different person.

Who knows?????

“Office Of The Newly Crowned Wannabee President-Elect”. Cheap Suit Productions. LOL

LOL! I didn't watch the coronation, but the whole thing is bizarre...they are treating Romney not only as the nominee, but as the president-elect. Heck, I guess it worked for Obama, so why not?

I agree that Romney is maxing out his voter potential. For some reason, that doesn’t seem to bother the GOP, though.

I can post the shirts, but can’t get them to link up with the href connection to Newt’s donation page....I’m so tired I sure it’s just a little thing...Will look at it again in the AM when I’m rested.

Red made me a new pink t shirt which I think I’ll wear tomorrow.

My husband hates politicians. He watched it and said “I wish these politicians would quit cheapening the flag by standing in front of it.”

Anymore, I agree.

I think you’re a troll, time will tell. Did you say this about Newt?

LOTS of people on this board had a lot of very nasty things to say about Newt back in October and November, when Perry and Bachmann were still in and when many hoped for S***h P***n, too. As a long time Newt supporter, I caught my share of flak from them.

Now that Newt is the officially endorsed candidate of FR, they've gotten their minds all Newtly revised, yes sir, no sir, three bags full, sir!!!

So I suggest you not rag on anyone who may have changed his mind since then....

And I cut birthers some slack, except for those gullible morons who bought into combover boy's steaming platter of bulls**t.

Oh, Lord, I know. Saw Romney “positioned” in front of flags in some shot. Makes me ill — like they’re trying to make him look presidential.

I personally feel Trump’s endorsement will hurt Mitt and benefit Newt more. I was very concerned what would be said about Trump pairing up with Newt ... I think Newt’s just fine without him.

“We have wasted all of this effort up to this point in the naive belief that we had some input to the political process but the smart ones now know we have no representation at all.”

The smarter ones know the american electorate. Not recognizing that is, and always has been the problem.
