You can bet there are plenty of people doing exactly what you describe.
Problem is they’re not in the news. What’s in the news is stories coming from the plenty of other people (establishment leaders) who have a lot to lose if he becomes president.

I think there are a good number of freepers who share your sentiment. I’m not one of them. Leaving the Republican Party will accomplish nothing but assuring Democrats control the money and power. The better path is to wrest control of the Republican Party, as the Tea Party is trying to do. It’s an uphill battle, one that began with Reagan and was furthered by the 94 Republican takeover. It has had its ups and downs, but the 2010 takeover of the house was a huge victory for the Tea Party and conservatives. Establishments come and go, and the elites of the Republican Party are dug in, but they can go nowhere without us. It is like the foolish argument by the “intellectual” elites of the party who want to marginalize cultural conservatives. It isn’t going to happen, and if it did, they would be crying to get them back. The Republican Party can’t win without cultural conservatives, and the Republican Party won’t have a future without the Tea Party conservatives.
If Rush, being a FLORIDIAN, was really interested in helping the US of A before it’s TOO late, he’d do a WEEKEND LIVE BROADCAST and INVITE the CANDIDATES into his own arena (put up some of your millions, Rush and rent a stadium) and be the MODERATOR and ask REAL ISSUES QUESTIONS)...DO IT NOW and let the candidates take the ISSUES and POUND OBAMA FOR A CHANGE!
Thank you! I thought I was going crazy! I listened to Rush this morning and was cheering that he was backing up Newt.
Then, I come onto FR and see that most here think he was bashing Newt. I was totally confused and wondered what I missed. Glad to find out I missed nothing and am not crazy! :)

On his show tomorrow, I am sure Rush will be talking about the altered audio of Newt and the fact that Romney has thrown in with Nancy Polutsie about “something she knows”.
Facts are facts. Reagan and Newt did not see eye to eye.

Rush is saying, "If this stuff had been going on I'd know about it". He is saying, "I was there and I was paying attention and I don't remember Newt bashing Regan".
Further Rush is saying this is an obvious coordinated attack on Newt coming together to do the most damage to him.

You're absolutely right, and I had just turned 18 in October, 1980 (my first vote was for Ronald Reagan). So even as a young person, I definitely remember Newt Gingrich. He was always on the news.
For rush to say he was unaware of Newt saying the Reagan Era is Over is a bit disingenuous. Rush had Newt on his show to dance away what he said.
I’m hope we have all voiced our resentment to Drudge for the Newt bashing.

Say what you want to now, but keep in mind that if we have a bunch of little Newt’s in the House and Senate, we can control a “moderate” in the white hut like Mitt. Still, the anger and resentment will make a very high hill for him to climb. And if he loses they will blame it on the tea party.
I caught on that that was what he was doing in about 5 minutes of listening in hour number 2.
