Ex-prosecutor fires shot after doorbell prank

A Long Island mom was so fed up with someone constantly ringing her doorbell and running away that she grabbed her pink 9mm pistol, bolted outside, and fired off a round before holding a neighborhood teen at gunpoint until police arrived.

“I shot that gun yesterday for the first time. I felt like I had balls,” former Bronx prosecutor Bernadette Greenwald, 37, boasted to cops not long after the childish game of “ding-dong ditch” caused her to snap.

She initially told cops that the neighborhood teen rang the bell twice, and on the third time threatened to rape her and kill her children.

But cops said the teen had nothing to do with the prank — he wasn’t charged — and the young man’s mother insisted he was walking home from a friend’s house after watching the Giants game and drinking beer.

Greenwald’s statements to cops later changed.

“The kid admits to drinking five or six beers that night. He admits to being on their property. She didn’t do anything wrong here,” said Mitchell Barnett, who also claimed that LeBlanc had trespassed on his client's property in the past.

I'm glad she didn't actually shoot him, but what the heck is a 17 yr old high school kid doing out drinking at 11 pm and the mother acts like he's so innocent?

What is the punishment for someone who wasn't a prosecutor who lies to the cops and accuses someone of a felony? Now what is the punishment for someone who was a prosecutor?

So she’s a liar and prone to “snapping”. Just the sort of person who needs a gun.

“I shot that gun yesterday for the first time. I felt like I had balls,”

Now you can learn what they feel like in a vice.

Welcome to the uncomfortable side of the New York courtroom, sweetie.

Forgot to mention the obvious psycho-sexual "issues".

That kid was probably drunk as a skunk. I doubt he can even halfway remember what he was doing that night.

That kid should know how to spot a ruling elite doorbell on sight.

I am surprised she wasn’t charged with kidnapping. She pulled a kid, at gunpoint, off the sidewalk into her home. The Rockville Center Patch has an article which better explains the story. This woman opened the door after the supposed doorbell incident and fired into the air. She kept standing there and after a bit this kid walks by her house on the sidewalk. She then held him at gunpoint inside her home. The neighbors are lucky they were not injured by her firing into the air and the kid passing by is lucky he wasn’t shot either by the woman or the husband coming home.

The woman lied about the incident initially so who knows if there even was a doorbell incident. In addition, the articles say she “resigned” from the prosecutor’s office in the 90s. She was taking Xanax. I’ll go with crazy lady.

The kid was probably confused because he had been drinking. It’s no wonder he was confused about a crazy woman with a pink gun grabbing him off the sidewalk.

YANK HER PENSION.

These elitist supposed law enforcement jerks think they are above the law. How can anyone believe she was fair and honest in her job she had for 20 years I presume.

As far as I know, you can’t shoot anyone for ringing your doorbell repeatedly.

I suppose NYC has a special exemption for former (female)prosecutors or maybe there’s a waiver for that in Obamacare somewhere.

If you could kill people for being highly annoying, I’d have stacks of libs like cordwood.

Except for the person that bought the beer for the underage drinkers.

Well her 9mm was pink. I guess that makes this OK. Probably raises breast cancer awareness or something.

Little punk is going to get himself killed if he doesn't change his ways.

And I will not cry about it.

Was she wrong in what she did? Yes, in how she did it.

Was the little punk in the wrong? Let's see, ringing doorbell's and running away at 11:00 pm while drunk? Can't imagine how anyone would feel threatened by that!

Too bad she didn't have a dog to chew on him.
