Newt Gingrich surges in national polls
Washington Post ^ | 01/23/2012

Posted on 01/23/2012 12:55:17 PM PST by Mount Athos

One week ago, Mitt Romney amassed a record 23-point lead in Gallup tracking polls. But in the latest poll released Monday, the former Massachusetts governor’s advantage has evaporated to a single percentage point among Republican-leaning registered voters. Romney now stands at 29 percent to Gingrich’s 28 percent.

Keep RIck and Paul in as long as they are the candidates running against Willard in VA and the other state Newt didnt qualify for.

Rick should keep attacking Willard’s non-conservative position setting up a good cop/bad cop with Newt.

The MSM is trying it’s best to destroy Newt. Newt needs to take their and Romney issues and address them head on...For example Mitt keeps saying Newt was a lobbyist. A small voice from the back of the crowd challenged him this AM saying “Don’t lobbiest have to register?” Newt can pick up on this saying Mitt has absolutly no knowledge of how DC works and would be in the same position as BhO.

Romney is telegraphing his attack issues. Newt’s professor background will take these issues, and point by point destroy Mitt. It’s the same model that Cain was explaining on how to solve a business problem.

If I had to guess, I bet Romney pounds Gingrich tonight on his supposed lobbying and call him an insider and blame him for economic problems. I think that will be his theme.

But, I am sure Gingrich will be prepared for that. Hopefully no actual surprises.

Well, looks like Newt is surging. I have always liked him but was hoping for a Santorum/Newt ticket. Newt will certainly humiliate Obama in a debate and that will be fun.

Anyone here care to second a Newt/Santorum ticket.

You got that right. If Obama refuses to debate, Gingrich will set up and empty chair with an empty suit representing Obama and pound away at him.

But Obama will not refuse. He’ll come in overconfident, smug and stupid, thinking his superior intellect and Marxist dreams can outwit and crush the inferior, out of touch, “right-wing extremist” Newt Gingrich. None in his circle has ever dared tell Obama that he’s full of shinola and actually nothing more than a useful idiot, and, of course, he’s never doubted his great oratory and debating skills and has never suffered self doubt. Newt will tear Obama a new one and expose his Marxist plans for America and the damage he’s already inflicted on us!!

No way in hell will Obama be allowed a second term to continue his destruction of American Liberty!!

Newt is the one to bring him down!!

Go, Newt!!

“Somewhat OT: Is tonight’s debate going to be televised or only streamed online? I can’t seem to find a TV listing anywhere.”

NBC WILL SHOW IT IN PLACE OF “FEAR FACTOR” TONIGHT.

And we haven’t even had any FL debates yet. Lol. They’re ALL going to be on suicide watch by this time next week.

Yes Obama will avoid the debates as much as possible. Problem for him is, there will be great pressure to do 2 or 3. Then again, if Obama is behind he may need to debate.

OTOH Obama loves to hear himself talk, thinks he has been a great president, and thinks everyone else loves to hear him talk.

I honestly didn’t think it would be so easy to shatter the “electability” myth.

As soon as Romney
Is not inevitable,
He drops like a stone.

The good news is that for every time Romney attacks Newt in the debates, Newt gets a chance to respond.

Same for Santorum.

Oddly, the more Santorum attacks the lower his polls go.

He's just not liked.

I would not be surprised if 0bama refused to debate Gingrich.

I wonder what pretext he will gin up to justify his refusal?

I expect that a charge of "racism" will soon be made against Newt. He could use that, at last temporarily.

Oh, come to think of it, the race card was already played against Newt by Sheila Jackson Lee two days ago.

Obama could say something like "it would demean the office of the President if I were to appear on the same stage with the racist GOP nominee." The State-Run Media would love it.

“...group is Newt too conservative to draw in the 20% of independents. I looked him straight in the eye and told him this conversation took place in 1979...”

Indeed. Remember what the political landscape looked like in Georgia pre-Newt. Compare to how it STILL looks today.

Compare pre-Mitt Massachussettes to post.... wait. When did one end and the other begin?
