Suggestion to Gingrich, Santorum, Perry and respective supporters
RealClearPolitics Republican presidential primary polls | Jan 17, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/17/2012 3:32:52 PM PST by Jim Robinson

RealClear Republican Presidential Polls as of January 17:

South Carolina, Monmouth University: Romney 33, Gingrich 22, Paul 12, Santorum 14, Perry 6

South Carolina, Rasmussen Reports: Romney 35, Gingrich 21, Paul 16, Santorum 16, Perry 5

Florida, PPP (D): Romney 41, Gingrich 26, Santorum 11, Paul 10, Perry 4

Florida, Sunshine State News/VSS: Romney 46, Gingrich 20, Santorum 12, Paul 9, Perry 3

Nationwide ABC News/Wash Post Romney 36, Gingrich 16, Santorum 13, Paul 16, Perry 9

Nationwide Gallup Tracking: Romney 34, Gingrich 15, Santorum 15, Paul 12, Perry 6

Like it or not, the trend has been clear for weeks. If we wish a conservative to be our nominee, Perry should drop out of the race and we should coalesce around Gingrich or Santorum. As long as all three or even two of the three remain in the race the conservative vote will be split and RINO Romney will get the nomination.

Gingrich should challenge Santorum to a series of Lincoln-Douglas style one-on-one debates and if there is a clear winner, then the loser should drop out, or in the very least, we may be able to better decide which one is better suited to take on Romney and Obama.

May our very best conservative take on and defeat Romney/Paul and then wipe out Obama!!

Delete my account. You sir are an utter fool. You can vote for whomever you want, but you don’t dictate who I will vote for or support. It’s too bad the Palinistas blamed Perry for Palin not running. Maybe if you all would have been slightly rational you would have realized that Perry had the best record and was closest in ideology as Palin. Perry isn’t perfect but he has experience, proven leadership and bonafides as an uncompromising fiscal and social conservative.

Have fun backing a loser. Newt will not be able to defeat the dems. They blame him for impeachment while getting blow jobs at the same time with that two bit whore of a tramp he is now married to.

Not only that, Newt’s as big a progressive as Romney and 0bama!

Would love to see it happen, but it's a pipe dream. Too many egos at stake. Not to fear though, God is still on the throne and there won't be any upcoming primaries for his seat!

"It’s obvious that like Huntsman, Perry doesn’t stand a chance. Huntsman did the right thing. If Perry would now drop out and endorse the leading conservative, then it would help defeat RINO Romney who is a sure loser against Obama."

Exactamundo, Jim.

Reagan, are you kidding? Between Iran-Contra, pulling the Marines out of Lebanon, raising the debt ceiling, granting amnesty to illegal aliens, that gaffe about bombing the Russians, his “zany” Star Wars defense program, his divorce, his second wife Nancy’s astrology, and that old Bedtime for Bonzo footage you just KNOW the Dems are gonna trot out, the man’s clearly got too much baggage to get elected. What we need to do is incubate a test tube baby and raise him in a bubble until age 35 so that he never leaves the house, gets a job or speaks to anyone. Then we’ll have the perfect baggage-free candidate ready to go in 2048. /sarcasm

Failure to coalesce didn’t work very well last time.

We had RudyMcRomney vs the Huckster, Hunter, Thompson and Keyes, oh yeah, and “Republican” Ron Paul. We couldn’t coalesce around a conservative so one by one they dropped out leaving it to a race between RINOs McCain and Romney with the Huckster and “Republican” Ron Paul bringing up the rear to the bitter end.

Hunter dropped out on Jan 19.

Thompson entered late, fizzled and dropped out Jan 22.

RINO Rudy dropped out on Jan 29 after getting third in Florida.

Loser RINO Romney dropped out and endorsed RINO McLame on Feb 7.

RINO Huckabee held on until March 4 then dropped out and endorsed RINO McLame.

Keyes finished 4th in North Carolina and officially dropped out of the race and the Republican party on April 15.

“Republican” Ron Paul withdrew on June 12 and endorsed a third party candidate. Unfortunately, he did not drop out of the Republican party.

Loser RINO McLame got it by default.

I am sold on Senator Santorum....!

He must be over the target because he's sure taking flak right and left....

..and most of you here are determined to neutralize him.

This silliness about his wife is the imaginings of lowdown, scummy, vile sewer rats! .

It may be coming from Britain but it has Soros fingerprints all over it.

I am angered beyond words.

Right as rain.

Newt/Santorum would be the ticket to beat. Perry needs to do what’s right. He’s an admirable man and I have faith he’ll do what a good soldier should.

Agree 100%. Perry should drop out tomorrow. I had hoped that he would have skipped NH and worked on his debate coaching. He didn't. He's just not prepared to run and has no intention of becoming so.

Rick Santorum is the best choice. In some ways, he reminds me of Jimmy Stewart in “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.”

“Surely Perry knows it is time to step out TODAY..”

Really? Perry is the only candidate who invoked the ire of leftist trial lawyers and DC federal bureaucrat fascists.

Why do you suppose that is?

Not trying to be confrontational, but Perry is hated by federal fascists, leftist lawyers and judges.

What’s wrong with that?

Seems to me that those qualifications are a plus to consider.

Santorum sure as hell can’t claim the same. Gingrich probably can.

Now that’s what I call Cajun spice...

Funny, I have yet to meet one progressive who thinks Newt is anything close to a progressive. That’s sort of like calling Bill Clinton a conservative.

You state the case very well. In addition, Rick Santorum has a clean background and an ernest personality that will strike the right note with the American people.

He’s my 3rd and final choice in this election I’ll still be voting in the primary but only to remove Debbie Stabenow.

You are correct .... I was going on the headlines of a post on Hot Air and that headline was "Gingrich: “I would be delighted" if Santorum dropped out. Here's the quote of what Gingrich actually said (assuming that is correct!):

“I would be delighted if he decided to endorse me,” he told reporters here after being asked if Mr. Santorum should drop out. “I’m respectful that Rick has every right to run as long as he feels that’s what he should do. But from the standpoint of the conservative movement, consolidating into a Gingrich candidacy would, in fact, virtually guarantee victory on Saturday.”

Santorum was really fired up on Hannity today about this.

Santorum should probably throw his support to Gingrich (and I say this having contributed to Santorum’s campaign, not Gingrich’s), but only if Gingrich announces Santorum as his VP at the same time.

AFIK, it is illegal to offer a position in return for an endorsement.

I certainly agree that it's time for Perry and probably Santorum to get out and endorse Newt.

The "establishment" thinks that Mitt is unstoppable, but they don't realize that the GOP base DOES NOT want Mitt. It can happen basically the same way the leftist base coalesced around Zero over Hillary four years ago.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for Santorum to get out? It’s his numbers Newt needs. Perry’s numbers still keep Mitt in the lead. And I feel Perry is a better Plan B if something goes terribly wrong.
Serious question (maybe stupid question) - how to get rid of Paul? Who considers him a Republican? Why is he there? It’s like those children’s puzzles - “which one does not belong?”.
