Gingrich is a perverse product of political system

One reason to deplore our corrupt revolving-door politics and crony-corporatist economy is that it has produced a man like Newt Gingrich.
Through his defenses of his pro-corporate welfare lobbying efforts and his facile attacks on Mitt Romney's profits, Gingrich has emerged this election as an enemy of the free market -- an unlikely distinction for a member of the Republican Party, which is supposed to stand for the free market. The pious preachments of liberal college professors, the foolhardy machinations of liberal central planners, and the even the greedy public-policy profiteering of subsidy-suckling CEOs and regulatory robber barons are all less harmful to economic liberty than the insidious and Orwellian campaign by the former speaker.
Gingrich, both himself and through a superPAC technically separate from his campaign, has attacked Romney's lucrative career at Bain Capital. This is not automatically unconservative. There is nothing sacrosanct about making money, and defenders of the free market certainly aren't obligated to side with finance, as the bailouts reminded us. But the Gingrich video doesn't hit Romney for chasing bailouts or subsidies, for using eminent domain, or any sort of cronyism. Gingrich is attacking Romney for trying "to reap massive rewards for himself and for his investors."
The knocks on Romney in Gingrich's video are that Bain Capital "took foreign seed money," and that the struggling firms Romney tried to save laid off workers. The Gingrich narrative -- that Romney made money by laying off good working men and women -- is breathtakingly simplistic, the sort of thing you expect from an Upton Sinclair or a Dennis Kucinich.

He imploded after being given a 2nd chance and he deserves to be forgotten about. Same with Perry. They are both liars and showed their true colors. “Win at any cost.” I am thankful and still have hope in American Conservatives who now seem to be uniting and ready to support the less than perfect Romney.
And Obama and the Dems fear him more than any other candidate.
He’s nothing of the sort. He’s a brilliant man who got his feelings hurt and seems to have lost his perspective...TEMPORARILY. I’m praying he’ll get it together. Romney is no more corrupt for his years at Bain Capital than Newt is for his business dealings and at some point, hopefully before its too late, he’ll go back to showing why he’s the best man to lead the country.

Seriously, I dunno why you’re so enamored with Romney all of a sudden. I’ve listened to his speeches—he’s all talking points and empty rhetoric, never says anything of value nor presents any real ideas.
He will lose in a landslide to Obama, because he’s indelibly weak and phony.

I for one hope Newt regains his composure, now that
he’s “gone on record” sounding like he’s working for Team Obama (to the ears of many).
His current political rhetoric certainly sounds like a naked populist appeal
for swing votes, Independents, and/or whatever established or just-forming constituencies are out there waiting to be plucked for use in Primaries or the General Election.
As far as “Newt is the only one who could devastate Obama in a debate”-—I can understand those who think that and would like to see that, but I have NO reason to believe that Obama on his own is ANY kind of debater. Obama is merely speaking-to-the-choir glib-—he addresses the nation as if he had a 90% mandate continually spoiled by a recalcitrant,dangerously ready-to-riot 10%.
Of course, the percentages are always provisionally at least
50%/50%, quickly working their way toward 75%/25%, but that doesn’t faze him, nor does he even acknowledge it.
He doesn’t know how to do anything else—he’s in his own fantasyland, completely “outside” traditional political procedures and
expectations.

You’re right, Obama can’t debate. In his responses to Hillary, he just ran words together in a soothing tone and said nothing. She must have been hugely frustrated. My favorite response was when the whole big issue of licenses for illegals came up and Hillary went into a lengthy rant about how wrong it was and she’ll NEVER grant them. Obama just said, “I will” and nothing was ever made of it.

I’m not anyone’s bot, but I am hoping and praying Newt Gingrich first stops Romney and then whacks the Marxist right out of the White House.
If you’re implying that Newt can debate, I remember a debate he had with Bill Clinton in which Newt did so badly that Clinton actually looked Presidential for the first time since the 1994 election.
First he needs to whack the marxism out of his own soul.
