Ron Paul's campaign is out with this new ad in South Carolina, which hits Rick Santorum on his "record of betrayal."

"One serial hypocrite exposed," the ad says, showing clips of Newt Gingrich. "Now another has emerged: Rick Santorum, a corporate lobbyist and Washington politician. A record of betrayal."

Bwahahahahahahahaaha!

This from the asshat that packs bills with earmarks, votes against the bill (which passes) and then says I never voted for earmarks.

Bwahahahahaa this racist loon is just TOO funny.

Romney’s wingman.

My advice for Rick is to not laugh it off. Paul bites, and hiding isn’t going to work.

Paul is running fourth in SC so he’s out to kill Santorum and Gingrich, and he’s being helped by conservatives. Romney already leads and the best Paul can do is catch the other two for second.

You have a very good point. I like Santorum but part of his success could also be that he just happened to be the person standing in front of the chair when the music stopped.

Is this going to continue? We'll see but Ron Paul is slimy.

It is very possible that Ron Paul’s mission is to do whatever it takes to help the democrat party and to damage conservatism. Ron Paul continually tries to corrupt the meaning of conservatism with his attempts to inject Code Pink talking points into it, and aligns himself with far left democrats on a host of issues (gay marriage, pro-choice at state level, anti-war, terrorist rights, etc…) and Paul serves to split the conservative vote to the best of his ability and now attacks conservative candidates as well.

In every way Paul seems to be a plant for the radical left-wing.

Is Paul a lifelong anti-conservative?

My cursory look at his lifetime of being a political hack, is that he promotes himself by leaving the left alone, and attacking the right.

Paul isn’t running against Romney or Obama, he is running against those who can defeat either one of them.

“Why doesn’t Ron Paul go after Mitt?”

Why would he? As recently as a week ago I used to think that Ron Paul was a shoe-in to run as a third party candidate. I don’t think so anymore; I think he’s looking to deal.

So who is the most logical candidate to cut a deal with? Answer that question and you have your answer.

Paul is a mean, jerk who has no chance in hell of winning and if he did, G— help us all.

If Romney gets the nomination, he’d probably beat Obama but would not substantially change DC (he is too centrist) and only slow down the country’s decline.

If Santorum gets the nomination, he’d probably beat Obama and would make substantial change and substantially slow down the decline, possibly reverse it overtime. Santorum doesn’t care what people think if it goes to his core principles.

I don’t think Gingrich could beat Obama. Too many of my conservative friends say they simply couldn’t vote for him with all the personal baggage and hypocrisy. Plus, even if he won I think he is too worried about his place in “history” and would be too accomadative to the media.

That's actually funny. Several of the Ron Paul websites are wondering why they don't go after each other and are speculating they may be partnering, possibly to have Paul on Mitt's ticket or cabinet, or even Rand as a VP nominee.

Rand Paul as Mitt’s VP would ensure three things;

1. Many conservative TEA Party types that LOATHE Romney (myself included) would support that ticket.

2. Wrong Paul would not run independantly.

3. Wrong Pauls’ kook, fringe supporters would probably vote almost en masse for that ticket rather than stay home and get stoned.

I don't see a lot of real content in the ad—just a bunch of name calling and vague accusations. I think Santorum needs some fine tuning in his fiscal conservative ideology, but he is a better candidate for conservatives, both fiscal and social, than Romney or Paul. I also think Santorum had to side with unions and do some other things to be a viable candidate in his state, which is very union. He also followed what the GOP leaders wanted him to do back when those leaders were even more RINO than they are now. From what I can see, he is the best remaining candidate (Perry would be 2nd).

I think Santorum needs some fine tuning in his fiscal conservative ideology,

One major reason that senators make weak presidential candidates is that they usually have extensive voting histories, which can be cherry-picked by opposition researchers to smear the candidate with (some) of his own votes.

Given all the compromises, quid pro quos and procedural hijinks that go on in that whorehouse, I would bet that one could make any senator from either party look like a demon or a saint, pretty much at will.

On the other hand, you will notice how rare it is for the newt-haters to actually rely on his votes. They much prefer to float out offhand comments, attacks on his personal life, and the occasional brain fart, because his voting record does not support their efforts to smear him.
