"Again, my understanding is that the ‘truthers’ assert US complicity or even execution of the attacks."

There is probably a website sponsored by them that will shed more light on what they believe.

Hey Sarge you have some great images.

Love the Pac Man thing. Pac Man was actually my nick name shortly following my Army ETS.

Nice to see you out here.

Hope that all is well. I have been away for a while.

"The administration felt that aggressively taking the war abroad while implementing sensible security measures at home would minimize the risk to liberties at home."

Iraq was like a killing field in a way, it drew out the extremists from all over the middle east and we fought them on foreign soil instead of here. In that single regard the invasion worked like a charm, it may have solidified some support for Al Qaeda against us but it did far more good than harm. Where we blew it was after the invasion was of course not having enough troops in country and disbanding their military too quickly. I know its not a popular belief, but I still think we should have tuned north and toppled Iran's leaders also. Yes the world would have been pissed had we done so, but in the political atmosphere after 9/11 had we moved quicker and with more force the world would be in a much better place right now.

You might be surprised to know how much more tempered it really is. Go ahead and check it out firsthand.

There are those who should be shown the door.....and I will be more than happy to hold it open for them....

Captain Kirk was definitely on that list. His personality was even more repulsive than mine, and that’s saying quite a bit.

Yeah, there is too many things going against him...for me to ever support him...even against Obama, I would think of not voting for him. Then again that’s really close...

He’s more of a libertarian with oddly liberal like views.

No, he ruins it for me for borderline saying we’re to blame for 9/11 and that perhaps our government was happy or took part in it...either or is horrible.

The way he presents his views and what he truly believes is the problem. I didn’t believe in going into Iraq, unlike many here. That’s not a bad view. But once you enter, you must stabilize and you must keep Israel and any real democracy interest at hand. We’re not alone...that view died long before Pearl Harbor. And like it or not, we have to be the world police when it comes to real bad guys. Of coarse I don’t think we should be overly involved where we shouldn’t, that government ought to be as small as possible, ...his fundamental beliefs aren’t flawed. It’s his delivery and zealotry.

He represents a wing of the republican party and in some sense we must align domestically...but foreign policy wise. I think he ought to say prudence is key and avoidance of such past policies...but don’t be left of the liberals!?

no. Ron paul is an idiot with foreign affairs but he has very good points as far as spending that no other politician talks about.

"secular Iraq"

Saddam was secular? How can Saddam be secular and use FATWA's for jihads at the same time?

Answer: can not

Where did you get that crazy idea that he was secular?

He was a cynical, manipulative dictator who understood how to motivate followers of Islam and used them to do his dirty work. He himself was very decadent and westernized, as were his sons. If it could be said that he had a religion at all it would not have been Islam, he may have been Zoroastrian. He was attempting to restore ancient Babylon.

He was Muslim the way Obama is Christian. When it suited him, he was a muzzy.

Iraq, for all of Hussien’s craziness, was not an Islamic state.

Lots of reasons to get rid of the guy...but his fatwas (if there were many) were a joke to get the fundamentalists to support him against us.

Jim Rob warned that guy just last night to watch his step. Looks like he decided to commit suicide by zot, anyway.

Well, off to fell Trollhenge with his disintegrated bytes! I shall honor his passing by depositing a golden shower of remembrance in the porcelain alter.
