Moderate beer drinking could have the same health benefits as wine

We've known for a while now that moderate wine-drinking can confer some health benefits. Now a new study reveals moderate beer consumption can also reduce the risk of heart disease by 31%. So what's behind this unexpected health benefit? Researchers at Italy's Fondazione di Ricerca e Cura combined several different studies conducted in the last few years that allowed them to explore the possible link between beer drinking and cardiovascular disease, with a data set of over 200,000 people. They found that regular, moderate beer drinking carries almost exactly the same health benefit that has previously been demonstrated for wine consumption, as moderate beer drinkers enjoy a 31% reduced risk of cardiovascular disease compared to non-drinkers. The best combination, they discovered, was drinking slightly more than an English pint's worth of beer containing 5% alcohol each day.

Did you do a news search on ‘pizza’ and then ‘beer’ and post the stories? Low carb diet got you down? lol

Don’t tell the mormons here in Utah. If they see you buying beer at the grocery store, you might as well be speedballing.

If you want health effects from beer, i would strongly urge you to stay away from low price co2 carbonated lagers and drink ONLY 100% pure unfiltered barley ales that are bottle conditioned. You will pay through the nose but it is better for you. In case you didn’t know, the way you tell if the beer is unfiltered bottle conditioned is the sediment in the bottom of the bottle.

I remember a scientific study on the old upper midwestern wives tale that a beer helps a breast feeding mothers milk. They ‘disproved’ it using a study of orange juice and vodka?! Where was the hops, malt and yeast in that study?

Heck, today, they could just use any of the readily available NA beers.

sam adams is not bottle conditioned, does not have sediment in the bottom of the bottle, and in most cases is not ale. I know nothing of the other brands you mentioned.

Maybe the Obamas since they are brewing their own beer now are going into the beer business and need some health Wookie promotion.

I suspect anything rich in carbs and calories and easily digested is good for lactating mothers. All those stupid fools in the weight gyms across the country paying good money for weight gain formulas are just that...fools. Never has there been a better weight gain formula invented than ordinary NATURAL beer. Homebrew is the best.
