STATE COLLEGE, Pa (Reuters) - The lawyer for the Penn State football coach charged with child sex abuse said in an interview on Monday the boy at the center of a 2002 incident detailed in the grand jury's report had been identified and said it never happened.

Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for the Penn State Nittany Lions, was arrested more than a week ago on charges he sexually abused eight young boys over a 15-year period.

Speaking to sportscaster Bob Costas, Joe Amendola, who represents Sandusky, said "we anticipate we're going to have at least several of those kids come forward and say, 'This never happened.'"

Sandusky, in a telephone interview with Costas that aired at the same time, acknowledged he had horsed around and showered with children involved in the Second Mile charity he founded.

But he denied he was a pedophile.

Actually you know one other thing: None of the principals involved has ever backed up McQueary’s story that he told them of a rape.

Hey conspiracy theorist: He is still on the coaching staff, and has hired an employment issues lawyer.

He's such a jagoff that he stands a very good chance of winning a Pulitzer.

Our two FRiends from PA remind me of a huge number of Western and Central PA residents I used to deal with for years. They worship Penn State and they dislike "outsiders" who diss anything about their area.

Well:

1. With your post you are in violation of Free Republic etiquette. I am not as tough as some here on this point. Some would yell at you on this thread and report you.

2. I am not a Sandusky apologist.

I personally know that at the age of 25, you do not admit to being molested as a male by another male. It is the kiss of death to your ego, and your sexuality. To this day, I tell no one but family, and that because my siblings were also molested by the same person. Truth be known, nobody in my family would ever tell the tale outside of the family. They would most likely deny it ever happened. Put them on a stage, and they would dummy up.

He didn’t say he wished he was dead because he committed sexual assault. If he had he would have been arrested on the spot.

“Where’d you guys go to school?”

Again embarrassingly for you I already answered that question 8 post before you asked it. To elaborate I am a graduate of the Universities of Richmond and Florida. As with the material on these allegations, once again you might well be better served by reading more and posting less.

McQueary’s still there because he has whistleblower status. You knew that, right?

Gee, maybe we’ll get a federal law to outlaw homosexual activity, especially with young boys and older adults. I guess that would be difficult for some people to accept. /s

To clarify, being molested as a child, will seldom be admitted to by a man in his 20’s, maybe into his 30’s.

I don’t read your posts unless they’re directed at me. And I’ll live with the shame of that for the rest of my days.

I agree with this post. Someone is only innocent until proven guilty in court. The rest of us are free draw whatever conclusion we want. On the other hand, the issue here is whether it might turn out the government could be wrong.

I am always willing to allow for the possibility that the government is wrong. But then I believe in freedom and that the government needs proof to take away the liberty of free citizens. Clearly despite the name “FreeRepublic” many here do not from time to time.

IIRC, two on the janitoprial staff for the athletic facilities also are eye witnesses, according to the Grand Jury Presentments.

Why and How could anyone “else connected to the case” support the claim of a sole witness?

I have not read McQueary’s father’s testimony.(if it exists)

“I don’t read your posts unless they’re directed at me. And I’ll live with the shame of that for the rest of my days.”

Again embarrassingly for you, my post 84 was in fact directed to you 8 posts in advance of your post 92 in which you asked where I went to school implying PSU as the answer. Your ability to embarrass yourself by posting rather than reading seems boundless.

I'm sure that he did. And quite likely the much vilified Joe Paterno -- source of all evil in the galaxy -- told them he wouldn't give his assistant a recommendation, and that was the end of it.

Based on the Grand Jury report, I envision a 1999 meeting that went very much like this: "The DA may not have had sufficient evidence to prosecute, and CPS may have declined to go any further, but I am going to see to it that you are never head coach of this program, and that you never work for another team in the NCAA. SERS has a pension buyout going that will allow you to retire on 87% of your income if you get out now. I suggest you take it. It's the best deal you're going to get."

And, given that it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to fire a university employee, especially on the basis of what were nothing more than rumors at that point for all legal purposes, that would have been a very good stand for Paterno to take. But he will get no credit from the lynch mob. No. Instead, people who know of nothing more than accusations -- many of which are in dispute right now -- are jumping to the silliest and most reprehensible kinds of conclusions about Paterno, PSU employees, the entire university, and even the "Pennsylvania State House."
