A fatal explosion has hit an Iranian military base near capital Tehran, according to local media reports. There has not been any immediate confirmation of casualties in the blast, which apparently happened in an arms depot belonging to the elite Revolutionary Guards in Bidganeh.
The AFP news agency reports that the force of the blast shattered the windows of homes in the western suburbs of Tehran.
Alireza Jane, an Iranian official responsible for security issues in Tehran's governor's office, told the ISNA student news agency that the blast hit "a military base."
She said the explosion, which was originally reported to have hit a gas distribution station, happened about 12 miles west of Tehran.
A statement on the Revolutionary Guards website said the arms depot belonged tot hem but did not give further details.
There are no details on what may have caused the explosion.

Fools playing with fire!
Maybe the explosion made him a woman.....so to speak.
Sounds good.
I find it interesting they keep using the word hit.
We’re probably thinking the same thing.
I think it mmore likely they will suffer a series of terrible nuclear tragedies, self inflicted, before they finally figure out they shouldn’t have ever taken on the responsibility of nukes.
Messing with the smartest people in the neighborhood isn’t a good idea.

Looks like two seperate explosions, the smoke on the left looks to be from a smaller explosion that probably happened first since it seems to be fading.
Something very similar happened in Oct 2010 at another base. Iranians said accident but there was speculation later it was a sabotage and the site was a lot more important than just a ammo dump.
This is probably something similar.

Therefore, it was not a fatal blast as the headline screams
The blast to which you refer was missiles and reports indicated it was fatal, numerous deaths.
Iranian TV say 15 dead according to Reuters.
Silence! I kill you
Israel would never do anything like this...ya think.
I’m hoping it was an IED storage building or factory on the base that blew up in their faces.
“There are no details on what may have caused the explosion.”
he he he
pong
Cheers!
Any connection to this from yesterday?

VIENNA (AP) The U.N. nuclear agency is reporting “very low” but higher than usual levels of radiation in the Czech Republic and elsewhere in Europe.
The International Atomic Energy Agency says the “very low levels of iodine-131 have been measured in the atmosphere over the Czech Republic” and elsewhere on the continent.
PASDAR AMMUNITION DEPOT EXPLODES IN IRAN, SEVERAL DEAD

US arrests Iranian for terrorism: accused of plotting assassination of Saudi envoy.
Immediately after the charges were announced, the US Treasury Department announced it was applying sanctions to five people implicated in the plot: Arbabsiar; Shakuri; Pasdar commander Qassem Soleimani; Hamed Abdollahi, a senior Pasdar officer who coordinated aspects of the plot and oversaw the other Qods Force officials directly responsible for coordinating and planning this operation; and Abdul-Reza Shahlai, a Pasdar officer who help coordinate the plot. Shakuri was described as a deputy to Shahlai.
Will need to look at weather conditions.
Gee. That sure is too bad that a terrible accident like that would happen to those guys.
According to links in posts #27 & 41, the radiation has been detected for 3 wks
No. I'm going through my radiation tracker, the Eastern Europe sensors are offline- but I'm getting Azerbaijan, and their radiation levels aren't above normal. If it was coming from Iran by wind it would have to pass over Azerbaijan.
By the way, Tokyo is currently experiencing a massive spike in radiation today!!! Their readings are higher than Fukushima right now!
Mossad denies ever having heard of a country called Iran.
Reichstag Fire style event?
ping
Darwin at work
If this was an Israeli op, not a bad target to go after. Apparently the base that got hit stationed IRGC troops responsible for operating Iran’s IRBMs. Wonder if there were any Shahab missiles at that ammo dump that went boom?
Explosion occurs in the village of Bidganeh where the Fifth Raad Missile Brigade, responsible for launching Shahab 3 and 4 missiles, is stationed; satellite images of the site reveal two large military bases near the village.
A calling card from Bibi. “We know where you live and can reach you any time.”
“By the way, Tokyo is currently experiencing a massive spike in radiation today!!! Their readings are higher than Fukushima right now!”
Do you have a link for that? Thanks.
I have reservations this was an accident” but no doubt will be reported as such. Seems to me might be “communication” when voices go unheeded.
I have it through something called RadTracker.

I found a link for you! Tokyo is at 133 ru/hr right now and Fukushima’s at 91 ru/hr. It was even higher than that earlier at both locations.
Here’s the link:

Drag the map over Japan and zoom in to see the readings from exact locations throughout Japan. Let me know if you have any questions.
Revolutionaries? Very possible.
Mossad?...depending on the target, also possible.
If we had the right President in the White House, the mullahs would have fallen alreaddy during the uprsising over a year oago.
Not a good idea to store Iranian ammo, as they found out in Cyprus: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14102253
Maybe more software like “suxtant” will forge a complete meltdown the first time they power up. Something must be done. The mullahs are crazy nuts and the shi’ religion is even more evil than the crazy mullahs and the countries helping these people need to understand when the muzzie hordes are at THEIR gates well, there will be bolld there also because these people want the world for allah not just a piece of it.
...apparently happened in an arms depot belonging to the elite Revolutionary Guards in Bidganeh.IOW, it was RG, not Iranian per se.
According to Iranian TV, one of the deaths was Hassan Tehrani Moqaddam.
A 2002 NCRI briefing names him as Revolutionary Guard Missile Force Commander.
Yeah, just an accidental explosion at a boring old weapons depot.....
Just noticed this after I posted the above reply.

Did you say that his name was Moqaddam? Perhaps he was stoned? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macadam ;-)
Ha. You’re right
Iran exile group claims blast near Tehran hit closely guarded missile base

(Snip)An exiled Iranian dissident group, the Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK, meanwhile claimed that the blast hit a missile base run by the Revolutionary guard rather than an ammunition depot.
Former MEK spokesman Alireza Jafarzadeh, citing what he called reliable sources inside Iran, said that the explosion hit the Modarres Garrison of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps west of Tehran.

My guess is that it was caused by a error in a missile test. The general would not have been there if it was a simple transport of ammo. If my guess is correct then a lot of other key persons in the Iranian missile program are as well dead or wounded.
Can we get any clue from the color of the smoke?
Shahab 3 takes several hours to get ready, as the liquid fuel must be pumped into the missile. Was a leak the cause?
http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/hticbm/20090527.aspx
Or is it a solid propellant missile?
“The general would not have been there if it was a simple transport of ammo”
That was my 1st thought. Then I thought he could have just been in an area near enough to be killed.
But there were also reports that they limited the number of paramedics allowed to the site to just like 5 or 6, so I knew they were hiding something significant.
I’ve learned that when IRI puts out a number of casualties, (or arrested) to put a zero after the number and you’re closer to the truth.
That’s MEK trying to make themselves look good by ‘revealing’ what was fairly common knowledge.
“the number of paramedics allowed to the site to just like 5 or 6.”
If they feared that there would be additional explosions, they probably restricted the number of rescue personnel.
How many explosions were reported, one?
