Before October 2011, Lorna Mendoza and her nurse colleagues at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey served patients every day in the same day surgery unit without any hint that the hospitals respect for the nurses religious beliefs was about to come crashing down around them.
But a few weeks ago the hospital suddenly announced it was imposing a new policy under which all same-day surgery unit nurses must assist in abortions or be terminated.
Twelve nurses represented by the Alliance Defense Fund have responded by filing a lawsuit to have the new policy overturned. And yet the hospital is planning to force Lorna and her colleague Julita Ching to assist abortions this Friday, Nov. 4, despite the hospitals crystal-clear legal obligations not to coerce them.

NURSING SHORTAGE!!!
Take the firing.
Sue the hospital.
Get a job at a pro-life hospital.
(by definition, shouldn’t all hospitals be “pro-life”?)
Tell the nurses to put on Burhkas and yell ALLAH AKBAR just after being ordered to perform abortions...
I hope they know better than to quit.
Let the hospital have security escort them out, THEN sue for wrongful termination.
I would love to see a bunch of Pro-Life nurses OWN this hospital.
Betcha anything the moslems get a pass on this. Bigots rule the world.
Plus... sue for a special prayer room and special times each day to pray for the abortions to cease. Sue everybody in sight. Occupy the hospital. Bring in the media. Let’s roll...
they’re going after the “pro-life” hospitals too. Trying to force them to perform abortions.
Yep!
Another front in the pro-life war.
Thank you for posting this - update the nurses got a Temporary Restraining Order signed today.
I’m going to post this on the Jersey Board and try and get people to call the Gov. and also the disgusting Hospital.
sorry, I need a response to someone who said they cannot force you to do anything you do not want to do. Was anyone forced to assist? What was going to happen if someone refused?
Sorry, it is 515am and I missed FIRED! .. but on what grounds can they fire you , and still they are not forcing anyone to assist.
Someone would assist rather than be fired. Has this ever happened to anyone?
