Thanks for your thoughtful note.
I would like to correct one thing: I do not include Gingrich in the RINO camp. I do not trust his judgement. And, he is part of the political elite who brought us the wonderful Marxist in the WH. If he were the only non-RINO left standing I might consider him. He won’t be because we have three great candidates who do not carry his baggage.
I have posted with others who talk about Cain’s verbal slips. When I ask them to give me some examples they never reply. Cain is not a slick politician who worries more about what he does not want to say than he does about what he says. He’s not gonna tell you one thing and me another. It may be you do not agree with everything he says, but that should not disqualify the total man. I find his candor refreshing. Moreover, it seems a rapidly growing number of conservatives agree with me.
You said the conservative/GOP RINO pres. pool was weak. Who do you suggest would strengthen it?
I believe that this election cycle was perfectly positioned for Sarah Palin. She had set her campaign up, as she had done running for AK governor, as a battle against crony capitalism in both parties. Her message actually received significant bipartisan support (Waterloo, IA speech).
This, IMHO, was her time.
I actually like Cain -for the reasons you described - and I’ve supported him financially (more than$9.99). However, I am concerned about how many times he’s had to walk back from statements he’s made and basically state “I never said that” (even though he did). I don’t think it’s an honesty thing, rather more thinking out loud (engaging mouth before brain). Also, his campaign staff is doing a horrible job preparing him. When you’re an also-ran in the back of the candidate heap, these things don’t really matter. When you’re the front runner, however, everything becomes incredibly magnified. Cain and his staff need to be aware of this and be much more careful and better prepared.
Not trying to be original witty or otherwise glib ... just stating fact
I notice you freely insulted me, and then didn’t have the courtesy or courage to acknowledge it and apologize.
Newt did not have to sit with Nancy or buy into AWG, but his doing so marks him as an establishment Republican (I.e. Rino). Yes, Perry was once a Dem but we can count that as a youthful indiscretion (just like RWR btw).
As a fellow Georgian, I know Newt and have heard him speak so while he is a very passionate and logical proponent of conservative values...I still have that picture in mind and easily recall his support for global warming....He will NOT be accepted by the base...period
