Geez. Eventually, enough people will be brainwashed to scrape it and the Constitution.

If the voter rolls were purged, a voter id system put in place and everyone had to re-register, although I would still NOT go for it, however it would be more representative of how this country really votes.

I would do Congress by District and Sentorial and Presidential by county. This way, as an example, NYC would have the same electoral vote value as Watertown. Gets rid of cheating.

When the left complains, there can be no disenfranchisement because if NYC wants to stuff the ballot box, it only affects the one county, hence only one vote. It doesn’t impact the entire state.

...Agreed. A majority rule vote is a mob rule vote. That’s the reason for a Republic and not a democracy...

Yep meatheads in the east were foreseen as dangerous to the union ...that is why the founding fathers built it so....places like Montana, North Dakota, Colorado, Nevada and Texas could keep the swells in line even with thin populations. Who would have thought that all of New England would fall to the pinko Senators.

OMGosh! This is absolutely astounding! What a sad indictment on the educational system of this country that 62% of Americans would scrap the electoral college. I shake my head in sad, disbelief.

The irony of polls like this is the US is not a democracy...So, who cares if 62% of the population wants to do away with the EC or legalize drugs or take your pick.
Although, it is a indication that 62% of the overall population should probably not be allowed to vote.
Otherwise, I wish 62% of the population of the US would move to Canada!
Well, maybe more like 42%.
The other 20% are savable.

Let's just say uninformed.

The Electoral College is pure genius.

If you're interested in a terrific read on how our Constitution, including the electoral college, came about, I can highly recommend this novelized historical account ($8.99 on Kindle):

Tempest At Dawn

Product Description

As featured on The Glenn Beck Show. Tempest at Dawn is on the Glenn Beck Reading List.

The United States is on the brink of total collapse. The military has been reduced to near extinction, economic turmoil saps hope, and anarchy threatens as world powers hover like vultures, eager to devour the remains. In a desperate move, a few powerful men call a secret meeting to plot the overthrow of the government. Fifty-five men came to Philadelphia in May of 1787 with a congressional charter to revise the Articles of Confederation. Instead they founded the longest lasting republic in world history. Tempest at Dawn tells their story.

They are certainly dumbasses!!!

It would mean that about 10 major cities would be electing our President & VP. No other votes would be worth a damn.

Most people have no clue of the function of the electoral college.

Yes, 62% of the US population apparently does not realize that without the electoral college the President would be elected by NY and CA every 4 years. And we all know what that means.
