I’m sorry to say that many Americans would scrap their Republic altogether in exchange for some magic beans.

This poll was conducted nationwide by telephone to 1006 people who actually answered the phone.
What does the statement mean ...the majority of Republicans said they favor amending the Constitution, the Princeton, N.J., polling agency said...???
Were they really Republicans? Do they mean amending the Constitution in general, or specifically changing the rule about the Electoral College?

The Electoral College is the only thing that stands between a republic and dictatorial tyranny...........

Keep the Electorial college but seats should be decided by majority winner in each congressional district. If there is not a majority, then a run off is held between the top two candidates.
The remaining two seats per should be alloted to he majority winner of the state. If there is no majority winner, the two seats are split between the two top canidates.

If you want the inhabitants of New York, LA, & Chicago to elect your leader, then have at it. I live in a small southern town. I have little, if anything, in common with these people.

That’s about right.
62% of Americans favor a mobocracy over a representative republic.
What could go wrong?

The Electoral College was adopted to prevent the larger states such as California, New York, etc. from dictating to the states with smaller voters, such as the midwest which is farm land. Hitlery was pushing this way back when Gore lost.

That is because they are ignorant of the purpose or intent of the Electoral College!!
The result would be candidates campaigning in only the half-dozen most populace states, as THEY would determine the election!
Anybody surprised that 40 years of dumbing down our civics and history curricula contributes to this result?

This comes up now and then... i recall Hillary! chiming idiocracisms on this score a few years ago. Every time it comes up, they issue the same ridiculousness, and conservatives have to respond to set it right again.
