President Obama has deployed combat troops to central Africa to aid in the fight against the Lord's Resistance Army. In a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner, Obama says 12 troops with "appropriate combat equipment" were deployed on October 12 and approximately 100 in total will be deployed including a second combat team and headquarters, communications and logistics personnel. The forces will provide information and advise and assist "select partner nation forces," Obama explains. The troops will not fight except in self-defense. The full letter is after the jump.

Before checking this forum to see if any articles on this had already been posted, I was considering posting this Fox page but there is no need to be redundant. The reason I was going to post the Fox article is, there is something profoundly disturbing to me about all of this, and perhaps some of you share my concerns. Now, I did do some research on the LRA (formerly the Uganda Christian Democratic Army), it is typically tribal as is found all over Africa, violent, but so too all over the region, they take children by force into the Christian-Shamic fold (but taking children by force in such a manner is very common in Africa, be Christian-Mystic-Islam-et all, because children are, and it is not being bigoted to say so, are considered "stupid adults", or "little men" rather than "children") - and while atrocity occurs, all sides in the various factions here are committing atrocity or even worse ... and, while I understand that the LRA is jumping borders between Sudan, CRA and Congo which thus explains in part (but still disturbing) report that US troops will also soon be sent to these parts of the same region ... All of these little flare-ups, and the utter demoralization of the troops also has another purpose. When his “Civilian force, better armed than the military” rise up, you know the ones he armed in Mexico, and is training in the streets of America right now before our eyes, where will our military be?
Having quit because they don’t want to serve under this POS, de-funded, and their remainders spread all over the globe, a big part of the American people will just lay down for the slaughter.
Some us will fight, but most won’t.
