Coverage of Sarah's announcement on Fox and Friends this morning (35 seconds)

Posted on 10/06/2011 3:55:57 AM PDT by Scythian

I rolled out of bed ran down and got my cup of coffee and back up to bed to watch Fox and Friends, I thought for sure Sarah's announcement would come after the coverage of Steve Job's passing, but I kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I even began to doubt that what I had read about Sarah's not running last night was a fake. Finally, at 6:35 this morning, 35 minutes into the show spoke about Sarah's announcement. Mind you, this is after talking about today being national noodle day for at least 3 minutes.

The coverage was short, probably 30 seconds worth, and it was demeaning towards Sarah in my opinion.

1) Gretchen stated that the reason Sarah didn't do a press conference like Christie was that there were actually people pressing Christie to run. Now, this implies that the regular people pushing for Sarah to run aren't real people like the ones pushing for Christie.

2) Whats his name made a remark about Sarah's "Title" statement.

I was really shocked.

Not sure why so many people are fascinated by a sales tax instead of a flat income tax.

Not sure, but I'll take a try at this. Income tax... illegals or others getting paid under the table. How much income tax do they pay? I think that would be ZERO. Sales tax, and everybody that makes a purchase, illegally here or not has to pay.

yeah but then you’re taxing legal Americans who already paid taxes. Then you’re going to have to give prebates and there will be fraud and those illegals will end up getting them.

Another angle: if they spent a lot of time on it that would make republicans look beatable, in dissarray. Brushing it aside makes them look like no big deal, on panic, etc.

You can’t blame people for being dismissive of her when she ran a wild goose chase for the last three months that she knew she likely wasn’t going to run.

Now, she’s likely used up whatever political capital she had and she is likely finished politically speaking.

Had she, as I had suggested since Dec ‘10, ran for congress, she’d likely have a seat and she would have been a strong asset for turning around wanton spending.

Now she is nothing and I don’t mean that disrespectfully.

I agree with you... and I will state right here and now that Cain is a FLAWED candidate... because he lacks political leadership experience and he needs guidance and education. Rush can help him privately and he most likely will... Palin certainly could help his campaign by advising... but the rest of the field... they are just dims dude. Some may be conservative for a dim... I'll grant perry that... but santorum and his progressive statements on Bill Bennett's show... supporting specter... sucking up with steele... and romney is kennedy... and perry and his embracing and aiding illegal aliens... I cannot and will not commit to that deeply flawed field. In a time when we need a real leader... we will have to take a very bright business man and shape him into a great conservative leader or it will just not matter. The rest are LIFETIME POLITICAL ANIMALS... career politicians... the lowest form of life this side of the Wall Street commie protesters. Normy... I just cannot sit here and lie to myself and I will state the truth as I see it until the final lights go out.

Yes, I am depressed about the economy... I am losing everything that I have worked for over 40 years... obama and the dims... along with bp... have destroyed a very successful business... and regulations and taxes on my business have decimated it... businesses around mine are dying... it is starting to look like a ghost town. A 60 year business across the street from mine closed last month. A 35 year car dealership... located half a block away... is closing next month... and none of the others in the republican field will do what must be done to change the environment quickly enough to make any difference. I am cornered and fighting for my life... and this election is my only self defense weapon. I will no longer go along to get along... this is the line in the sand and I will defend it until death.

I agree. Since Palin Punk’d her supporters, they will not really care what “Stringalong Sarah” has to say.

She has made herself into the female Newt Gingrich, meaning UNELECTABLE.

I'll take a stab at this. The entire concept of taxing "income" - the fruit of ones intellectual or physical labor is inherently immoral.

What belongs to someone - other than one's soul - more than the product of one's endeavors? Why should government get first call on that product? If slavery is the same thing as a 100% income tax rate, then any lesser amount is simply a matter of degree.

It's like the kid said several weeks ago. "How much of MY money should I be allowed to keep?"

She doesn’t deserve 5 seconds after what she just did to her supporters.

Yeah I noticed that also. I imagine the decision came from higher up. The Steve Jobs death story probably also had something to do with it. It was on all the 24 hr news channels for the 1st 1/2 hour. Maybe it's better that way. We need time to regroup reload.

Here's my problem with Cain. He is a political animal, he was running for office for a while now, he just lost. He went to an all black college, which I don't like and he is apparently still for affirmative action. I don't like crazy tax plans that probably will never pass anyway and I don't like people without records.

I can look at MItt and say he is a moderate to liberal Republican because his record says so. I can look at Perry and say he is a very social Conservative and he is not a tax raiser and he is a spending cutter, because of his record. I can point to flaws and positives in both. Cain is another unknown entity who speaks well and comes across as a decent man but he needs to be vetted like Mitt and Perry have been then we will see where he stands. right now he says the right things and is amiable but i don't know him and his record is invisible.

Because it's immoral to tax the sweat of your brow.

They seem to be smugly silent and satisfied that Sarah Palin is gone.

Because they knew for months she wasn't going to run? As did I am many others here. Palin was doing zero to prepare for a presidential campaign and that has been obvious for a very long time, only her most fanatical supporters failed to see it. She ran a very long drawn out tease campaign that fooled about 10% of conservatives who had attached all their hopes and dreams to her. Finally it is over and those in the media who had been certain Palin wasn't running were proven right.

The only people doing a disservice to the field are the candidates themselves. With the exception of Cain they are a pitiful lot. Sarah didn’t cause them to suck so badly. They did that on their own.

Well said. The absence of any one candidate did not cause anyone to implode on their own. They didn't need any help to do that.

In another thread Newt has said that if offered a VP slot he would not say no. Could he give Cain the experience in certain areas that he needs?

Dittos....

This whole meat grinder process of debate after debate has gotten us to where we are now.

The candidates have spoken leaving the field where it is right now.

Candidate A flubs up and falls in the polls, then Candidate B flubs up and falls in the polls etc. etc.

I think in that light, FOX handled everything fine. Palin was interviewed on FOX last night, after all. It isn’t breaking news this morning.

Unless Fox fawns over her and strews her path with rose petals from now until eternity, there are people here who will criticize them and call them leftists. It's a sad commentary.

BWAHAHAHAHA!

"Ailes hates Palin...Murdoch hates Palin . . .""

Yeah right; that's why they gave her a $ 1 Million/year contract, because they hate her. /rolleyes

Get real.

Sarah Palin did this to herself. She has only herself to blame. She could have done the same thing 3 months ago only her ego would allow it.

Once more we see Sarah "belly up to the bar" only to back away and disappoint her supporters. I guess she really is a quitter.
